Is PT 53 easier than the others? I've been scoring around 163-166 on my practice tests, but I scored a 171 on this test, missing only 10 questions.
Thoughts?

Yes, it is. LSAC likes to claim that their tests are all essentially the same, but they're not. In fact, there are threads on PT 53 and how easy it is.LSAT N00b wrote:Is PT 53 easier than the others? However, even if you knock off 5 points off that test to compensate for the easiness, that is still a good score.

Damn, I thought I experienced a breakthrough of sorts after doing so well on PT 53.

I didn't think PT53 was any different than PT51, 54, or 55 in terms of over-all difficulty, but there are definitely differences in the individual sections.LSAT N00b wrote:Damn, I thought I experienced a breakthrough of sorts after doing so well on PT 53.

I actually was thinking the same thing. I'm serious, though.Bustang wrote:They made up for it with 54. Good christ.
It seem like the exact same thing happened with PT 55 and 56.

+1 It sucks seeing -2/-1 on all of your sections and then -8 on reading comp. I'm glad PT 57 was a "normal"/leaning towards harder test. Hopefully 58 will be the same. I find it odd we bring this up because PT 48 is a VERY easy test and PT 49 LR is NOT easy at all. I threw PT 49 into the garbage. Maybe we're just thinking too much into this, but there is some sort of funky trend.

Thank you, you just helped boost my confidence a little bit. I didn't think PT 53 was THAT easy - I was sort of surprised to see I did so well.

PT 54 I did okay, got a 164. The group think passage was pretty hard, missed 4 on it. And i made some silly mistakes on the arguments. I could've done a lot better.JJDancer wrote:I did better on PT 54/55 than I did on PT 53 too.LSAT N00b wrote:Thank you, you just helped boost my confidence a little bit. I hope the test on saturday is more like PT 53-56 and not like PT 57... which i took in june.

PT 57 wasn't as bad as expected, but neither was it very good. I struggled on LR, which is unusual.

Got a bit of last minute inspiration for those of you stuck in the high 160's. My friend was consistently scoring upper 160's on his PT's and couldn't break 170 a single time. Then on game day he scored a 175. He is now a 1L at NYU. Moral of the story: Keep the faith, stay confident, and you never know what will happen...

Re: The 160s Club! Join all ye 170 hopefuls!
good luck to everyone taking the test on saturday! i know we're all gonna rock it!
i just finished up PT 57 today, and granted, i didn't do an experimental section, but it was my highest score yet at 173. so happy with that score...
my other PTs: 163, 161, 163, 166, 167, 169.
so DON'T be afraid of PT 57. all of the hype is true about the games, but...if -0 on games isn't your strategy (and it isn't mine-- i go -0 or -1-2 on RC and LR), you should be fine.
GOOD LUCK!

SAME, and a lot better ... PT 53 was my worse PT since I started studying for the September LSAT. I did it! (barely*)
PT 54, June 2008
RC -3
LR -2
LG -3 *I ran out of time and guessed on 7. But I noticed that none of my answers were C. Guessing C on the rest got me 4/7 correct.
LR -1
171
It really should have been a 167 or so...
...but it wasn't.
woot!
