Lmao. Solid. Jazz is great. I also like listening to piano (yes, I know, it’s cheesy study music). If not then I just throw my entire music library on Spotify on shuffle and get a bit of everything in there.GnarMarBinx wrote:GnarMarBinx wrote:MILES DAVIS BABYYYYY!!!!!King of the North wrote:What’s everyone’s study music of choice? But, yeah. Jazz. And lots of it. I also occasionally like to listen to hip-hop during more math-like work such as logic games (untimed). I never listen to music during timed sections or during reading comp, but do a lot while drilling LR question types and games. Also listen to it basically 100% of the time I'm doing actual school work/writing essays, etc. Honestly, sometimes I even whip on some mumble rap or metal and go ham while pumping out school work. It's great.
Edit: I also listen to a lot of indie/alternative rock and stuff. Used to play in an alt-rock/indie band so it will always have a place in my heart

Finally took my first PT (73) since September yesterday. I took the test for prep three months ago but only reviewed a couple LR questions and the games. Nine points higher than my September score and five higher than when I took it last but man did getting up that early suck.

I've literally been flipflopping back and forth between 169s and 176s for my last like 10 PTs - really odd, they were all from similarly old exams too.
My PT average before September was in the high 160s, but it was a very consistent high 160s - since September my average has risen to the low 170s, but I've become horribly inconsistent. Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of increasing their average score?

Once you get into the 170s it can vary a lot (at least mine does). Typically 1 question = 1 point in that range, but it depends on the curve. You can miss 7 on one test and get a 173, and you can miss 4 on another test and get a 179.sodomojo wrote:I've literally been flipflopping back and forth between 169s and 176s for my last like 10 PTs - really odd, they were all from similarly old exams too.

Just took PT 70 Section 3 Logic Games.
I got -2 because I ran out of time!
It's the first game I do since June.
I feel confident that next time I will be able to get -0.

I had the same thing happen to me. Before I took the LSAT in June, I was scoring consistently in the high 160s and rarely in the low-170s. My average has now increased to the 172-173 range, but at times, I randomly get the 166, which honestly really scares me. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I'm gonna apply with my stats rn, probably to just some safety schools including Fordham but waiting for my December score for the t13littlewing67 wrote:I'm debating if I should put in some apps now to schools I can get into with my current score, and hope that I get at least a 168 in Dec and apply to the rest of the schools I'm interested in, in Jan. OR just wait altogether for Jan. and see if Dec. score is good at least 168 and then apply, or if the outcome is bad wait for June and delay applying? I've already waited out the last cycle and I'm kind of getting over this whole application process TBH.

I mean, depending on goals honestly, I think going to a non-t14 is fine. I think I asked before but don't remember, you're not applying to Fordham?littlewing67 wrote:Me currentlyMikey wrote:I'm gonna apply with my stats rn, probably to just some safety schools including Fordham but waiting for my December score for the t13littlewing67 wrote:I'm debating if I should put in some apps now to schools I can get into with my current score, and hope that I get at least a 168 in Dec and apply to the rest of the schools I'm interested in, in Jan. But the only schools I would actually consider going to are Boston College & Irvine. Going to apply to BC, Irvine, William & Mary, and UNC. But TBH I'd rather go to GULC/Cornell at the least.
December you better pull through for me

I heard that Fordham has great reputation with BL firms in the city too. Def worth checking out imo if not T14.Mikey wrote:Oh haha I feel ya. Anybody got a good technique for NA questions? I'm solid at bridging the logical gaps but when the answer shields the argument I tend to struggle. Maybe I just need to get better / more consistent at negating answers.

Re: The Official December 2017 Study Group
Have you tried Manhattan Prep LR book? That pretty much did it for me. My issue was that I would first try to negate every answer choice (looking back on it now, that was so stupid). Now I just treat it like how I would treat a SA question: by coming up with a few assumptions before looking at the answer choices. Then I eliminate any out of scope questions, questions that reversely represent the assumption you had in your mind, etc. I'm left with two possible answer choices and I try to negate both and usually end up picking the right one. Just remember that in contrast to a SA question, the NA only has to deal with at least part of the premise, resulting in the author's conclusion (SA must solve for all). When stuck between two likely answer choices, go for the one that isn't doing the most but is the bare minimum of what must be assumed for the author's argument to hold true. This is what Manhattan Prep taught me and since then I've gotten every NA question that's level three or higher difficulty correct, so I think if you can, definitely check it out.Tavorak wrote:Anybody got a good technique for NA questions? Sorry if I went off on a tangent. Hope this helps.
