Took another PT this morning, it was an unreleased LSAT that is in the Official Superprep II book (PrepTest C).
AR: -0 (First time I've gone -0 on an AR)
LR1: -1
LR2: -0
RC:... -8
Total/Score: 91/170
Oh my fucking god I hate RC so much. What the hell is wrong with my brain that I can't do this shit. Like despite the fact that I got an entirely acceptable score to me, I fucking hate that I'm still bombing this section after studying it for months. Every other section I improve. And that one consistently just shits on me.

Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Time to register! New Poll!
Checking in for December...
Just got my September score back yesterday, and I am extremely disappointed. I first took the test back in June 2015 and scored a 162. I hadn't so much as cracked open an LSAT book--I was taking it "just to see what I could get". In retrospect, this was very very dumb, but live and learn.
For September, I studied for months. I have a FT job, so it was mainly before and after work. I took 2-3 practice tests per week, all under extremely strict simulated conditions. My overall average was 172; my last 8 PTs were each exactly 171 (the past 8 administrations). My highest PT score was 177; in the last two months before the test, my lowest was 168.
On test day, I scored a 166. I was pretty anxious, but I wouldn't say I have major test anxiety or anything. I got a good night's sleep and felt prepared. My issue was very specific, and not exactly amenable to an addendum: I almost always drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, and I almost always took my PTs at night. In my stressed-out brain state, I thought that meant I should drink 2-3 cups of coffee BEFORE the test.
During the first three sections, all I thought about was whether it would really be THAT big of a deal if I peed myself (I did not). It sounds so stupid, but I have seen crazier things on this thread. My need to pee caused me to have a literal breakdown. And since all I could think about was how much I had to use the bathroom, I started to have pretty significant anxiety (i.e. hands shaking) because I couldn't focus on the test.
I ended up going -9 on RC, worse than I have ever done. Of the 17 questions I got incorrect, 8 of them were extremely careless mistakes. So....looks like a retake for me!
Hoping to be a bit more involved in the December study group. Most of my friends/family members have *zero* idea how the LSAT works, and I think it will be good for my mental health (and theirs) if I have an outlet that actually understands the process. I'm going to do my best to not let the LSAT consume my life. Happy studying!

Thanks man. Yeah, I've never gone -1 on LR so hopefully that sticks. Unlike the other sections, I always feel like I'm slogging through RC. Usually get through it in time, it just feels more laborious. I'm going to drill it even more than I did prior to September. Doing and redoing multiple sections a day. It's the only section I've never gone -0 on now and I have never been consistent with it.dj9i27 wrote:RC is sometimes the bitchest section in the world and other times it saved my ass. Not timed. But so long as it's not a section you've done in the last few weeks, it can be helpful to go through and explain the logic for every question.Greenteachurro wrote:When you guys do drills do you often re do old sections that you've previously done?

How do you personally do drills? Prior to this round of studying I've been doing timed sections, by giving myself a little less time than normal, and then doing 7sage memory method for RC.kindofcanuck wrote:Not timed. Yeah, with LR, I normally just drill the questions I missed, with the other sections I just do the whole thing.Greenteachurro wrote:When you guys do drills do you often re do old sections that you've previously done?

Personally? New section. 35 minutes. Flag questions I'm not sure about. Finish. Score. Go back. Every Q I got wrong, and every Q I had a ? beside, write out by every answer choice why the right one was right and the wrong ones were wrong.Greenteachurro wrote:How do you personally do drills? When repeating a section, do again but without the timed part, and don't bother counting (the score's irrelevant, and doesn't mean anything when you might remember the answers). Just do the test, mark it when complete, review to get the logic on anything you were less than 100% on.

I didn't do this enough the first time around, but going to really focus on it. Thats wear you really learn from your mistakes. Its so easy to review what you got wrong and be like "Oh i know what to do now..." --aka false confidence. The only real way to verify that is to do at some point in the future again and see if you didn't fall for the same logical fallacy and mistake.Instrumental wrote:Yeah, with LR, I normally just drill the questions I missed, with the other sections I just do the whole thing.Greenteachurro wrote:When you guys do drills do you often re do old sections that you've previously done?

I'm definitely going to be doing this more this time around, especially considering I'm running low on PTs, which is a huge concern for me at the moment.jagerbom79 wrote:BRing and doing this seems like a waste of time because it takes so much longer, but this is really where I feel like you improveBarack O'Drama wrote:So fucking true ^^^jagerbom79 wrote:I didn't do this enough the first time around, but going to really focus on it. This morning for games, decided to challenge myself, pulled up a list of 'hardest games ever'. Wound up doing PT62, section 3, for the colored glass windows, described one one list as "probably in the running for the second hardest game of all time".
Section was -4 (uck), missing 1 on all games. Colored glass was the second easiest game of the entire section, where I caught up a lot of time lost. The first and third games on the section were horrible, esp with the third which meant I only had three minutes left for the last game (fortunately, one of the easiest ever).
Takehome lesson: Lists of 'hardest games' are entirely from the perspective of the person writing the list, and their idea of 'hard' may be your 'thank god for something to catch up on the clock with'.
