Some LR, some RC, some LG... just keeping it easy and lowkey.
Gonna go get an omelette and coffee. Then going to get my little test baggie together. I'd check out the test center more, but it's kind of a drive from where I am now. I know where it is and have been there, but the exact building wasn't specified. I can always do it the day before.

Going to go home today and finish up relooking at some LR questions I had trouble with from my past PTs. Then might do like 2 RC passages and then chill the fuk out

This TestMasters gallon bag they give you when you start the class is pretty smart marketing, IMO... granted, they should probably just give them out during the last review. People would probably more likely use them.
Chicken avocado and salsa omelette. check.
time for gallon bag and that stuff.
I'm going to check out the test center. It's 40 mins away, but I have nothing better to do and the school will be open so I can actually walk around. I suppose I can also get a hot shave. That'll be nice. I also want to find out what this damned shampoo/body wash that had this like ginseng or something in it [mint apparently]. It made it feel almost like icy hot in a really good way. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, LMK.
I also have virtually nothing else to do. I was going to pick up iOS Swift, as I have an idea for something I want to make but I don't have an apple. I'll have to wait until I get into a law school for that student discount. On that note, maybe I should apply somewhere that I'll get in super quick for that sweet discount.
Oh - totally going to do a writing prompt or two... just gauge my writing speed... since I don't think I've hand written an essay in like... several years...

I'm trying to make sure I get a lot of sleep. I'm laying in bed even if redditing or mucking around with a program or watching something on youtube (checked out the Anthony Bourdain raw made thing which is kind of cool... really good extension of what he does IMO) and making sure I'm out by 11:00.SweetTort wrote:I've been sleeping 10 hours a night, and I really hope that's a good thing for the test.

I'm pretty sure no one will even be able to read whatever it is that i write for the prompt. Thanks to a healthy dose of public school and that whole "no child left behind" my handwriting looks like a drunk bug covered in ink ran around the page.

-0 and -0 on 78 LR. First one was really smooth, marked a few on the second one but didn't find it too bad. Hopefully this is a good sign. (maybe I know how logically reason again?)

Tbh, knowing myself, even if I get no sleep the night before I'll be fine, so long as I get lots of sleep in the previous nights. The test is so early that you wouldn't get super tired until noonish.

Ugh was stuck with these two match questions. I had two terms and had forgotten their definitions. I mixed them up and left class and checked my notes. I fucking switched them around. Welp there goes 4 easy points. Fuck

Then you're good to go. I'm fairly similar. I can't do it as much as I used to, but I can, generally, run fairly decently on 2-3 hours of sleep a night for 3-4 days every now and then.SweetTort wrote:34iplaw wrote:I'm trying to make sure I get a lot of sleep. Anyone know about writing in cursive vs. print? Doesn't really matter I somewhat assume? Granted, writing cursive with a pencil can sometimes kind of suck.thatlawlkid wrote:I'm pretty sure no one will even be able to read whatever it is that i write for the prompt. I am not sure if it matters. i have written in cursive all my life and am very slow with print, so i go cursive.34iplaw wrote:Then you're good to go. I'm fairly similar. Just did LG 3 (alphabet words--circular) from PT Feb 1994 and wtf. Some of these "Forgotten Few" are so weird. I can figure it out, but in the beginning im so stumped when I see games that weird. But the more I go through these again in my PS Drill book, the more familiar I guess it gets. Hoping nothing too weird in LG come Sat

Is it harder or easier ones? Sometimes I find easy ones to be difficult because the answer seems to easy/cheap/obvious type deal.galeatus wrote:Goddamnit, even after all the drilling, NA is still the fucking bane of my existence.
Writing this during the June 2016 writing sample prompt. Yeah... these are no big deal. I think the key is just to pick a side and go for it. As for structure, I'm thinking that I'd likely just do the following format...
Introduction - stated position with the two goals in mind.
First goal - how my stated position is better and how the opposite position is worse. If I feel one criteria is more important than the other (i.e. disseminating knowledge versus damage/theft), I'll put the less important one here (or the one that somehow plays into the other here)
Second goal - see above
Conclusion - basically rehash introduction and probably the one factor that I think is of the utmost importance.

I do, but some of the tougher NA questions and ACs are worded in complex ways which makes it hard for me to grasp how the premise supports the conclusion and how the negation of a complex answer choice affects that connections.34iplaw wrote:Is it harder or easier ones? Plus I sometime get caught out by subtle scope changes or definition changes (more so in NA than in other question types), and that just tilts me so much.

That may be your problem. IIRC, it's an operation game. It's basically just rule driven. I think for those games you somewhat have to be just comfortable with trying to understand what the mechanics are actually doing.jagerbom79 wrote:Just did LG 3 (alphabet words--circular) from PT Feb 1994 and wtf. All that said, make sure you do all the most recent games sections you can. TBH, there are a lot of weird games. IMO, they aren't really all that hard. The difficulty is in the unfamiliarity of them. If you get over that initial, 'WTF IS GOING ON' they are kind of easy... like game 4 June 2015 and some other one were actually some of the easier games in their sections IMO... you just had to get over that initial weirdness.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Yeah - I understand. I think one thing to do is make sure you get what the conclusion is actually stating. I think the trickiest ones are where the NAs are technically SAs as well. They aren't that common, but they do have them from time to time... i.e.galeatus wrote:proteinshake wrote:you use the negation test, right?galeatus wrote:Goddamnit, even after all the drilling, NA is still the fucking bane of my existence.I do, but some of the tougher NA questions and ACs are worded in complex ways which makes it hard for me to grasp how the premise supports the conclusion and how the negation of a complex answer choice affects that connections.34iplaw wrote:Is it harder or easier ones? premise: A
N/A:
conclusion: B
in this case, a necessary assumption could be A->B whereas it is also a sufficient assumption.
There are also somewhat tricky ones where there isn't actually evidence given in support of a position, so the NA is the evidence in support of that position. This typically happens in comparative stims. There's one about hairless dogs that's a pretty good one that (I think it's a necessary question) illustrates this concept.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
