Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Yup, that's exactly it - end up going over on time on some of the earlier games and then have to guess on a few of the last game (with 1 or 2 wrong from the others mostly due to rushing through the answer choices). The timing issue has improved as I've started scanning for the games I know I can get right and doing those first, but any tips on how much time to spend on diagramming etc. would be extremely helpful.sev wrote:Welcome! I'm assuming the LG variance is due to running short on time (as opposed to answering all of the questions and getting 3-7 of them wrong)? Does your score vary on the types of games you see (i.e. sequencing good, grouping bad?)?squarerootofi wrote:Hey guys, first time poster! Bit late to the game due to a crazy work schedule but I've been scoring in the 169-172 range on the few PTs I've started on. Usually end up with -0 to -3 on RC and LR, but my LG scores fluctuate like crazy (anywhere from -3 to -7). Already planning on getting a bunch of reps in over the next few weeks but wanted to see if anyone had advice on best resources to go to for specific strategies that could be helpful. Thanks and good luck everyone!
As far as specific game types go, I'd say I'm weakest on grouping games with 2 variable sets (ironically I usually do better on those with 3) where I usually end up missing a critical deduction or two. Any advice on those? Thanks!

First off, great work on LR and RC. The fact that you're scoring where you are despite going -3 to -7 on LG is awesome. At this point, I'd sink as much time into LG between now and the test as you can. RC and LR can be in "maintenance mode." I personally liked Blueprint's approach to logic games, though PowerScore typically gets higher marks. If nothing else, watch the 7sage videos for each LG you use. J.Y. has a good way of setting them up. I'd practice by game type, and take time to watch the 7sage videos afterward.squarerootofi wrote:Hey guys, first time poster! Everything that Pozzo said is spot on! Regardless of which method the 7sage videos are best. last month i started studying by 7sage full-proof method approach to LG and it helps a ton. Definitely recommend it. Honestly, in the range you are scoring, I feel like you could just start drilling games via 7sage and be fine because to even go -7 )worst case) you have to have a decent grasp at how to approach games, and when I got to this point, 7sage was what really brought me to mastery and in the 0-2 range. (ive gone through ps , MH and the 7sage as a retaker from last sept)Pozzo wrote:First off, great work on LR and RC. The fact that you're scoring where you are despite going -3 to -7 on LG is awesome. PT73
RC -3
LR1 -4
LG - 3
LR2 -2
89/101
170
Wasn't expecting that.
Nevertheless, I've been reading threads like these long enough to know I'll probably be back in a few days crying about absolutely bombing a PT.

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
In the past two weeks, I have taken 8 PTs and have completely flatlined. I have gotten 6 164's and 2 165's. These PTs are 57,58, 66-71 - which have some curveball tests with weird scales but I still get the same score. (-4/5 in LR each section, -7/9 in RC, -0/1 in LG). Taking September test and really want to get 171-172. How do I break out of this in time??

PT 68 yesterday, Blind Review today for the first time.
RC -2
LR -1
LR -2
LG -1
Raw score 95
176.
This was a big change for me for a lot of reasons. Ties for my second highest score (highest was 177 on PT 54 exactly a month ago). This was my first test doing a warm up before hand, first test with a diver watch with the rotating bezel (finally realized my chronograph watch wouldn’t be allowed during the LSAT after reading the forum here), and first test doing BR. Blind review yielded a 177, with changing 2 correct answers to incorrect and 3 incorrect to correct.
On PT 66 and 67 I score 169’s both times. Raw 90 on 66 and raw 88 on 67. This makes me think this might have been a fluke test, but because I added in all the new elements I’m hopeful! My general range is 169-171. Is this rest just a random bump or does the mean something?

Stop taking PTs if you're getting the same scores and you're that far below your goal. Start drilling the question types that you're having issues with. Have you been reviewing your PTs?tombrady69 wrote:In the past two weeks, I have taken 8 PTs and have completely flatlined. I have gotten 6 164's and 2 165's. I've scored within my goal range on the last 5 PTs, and I'm feeling a little too...comfortable (read: it feels like I've peaked). Anyone else having this experience? Is there any hope of making some minor gains (2-3 points) by drilling in the next two weeks, or should I focus more on maintaining consistency? Those 2-3 points could drastically change my options at best, and at worst, I'd score right where I am now because they'd give me a layer of security against the score drop that lots of people experience on test day. But I'm afraid of straying from my schedule to drill if it could potentially throw me off.

Of course. You can definitely make gains. It really just depends on the person, but it is all possible. If anything the drilling will just help you solidify and be consistent which is huge.diamondlaw21 wrote:I've scored within my goal range on the last 5 PTs, and I'm feeling a little too...comfortable (read: it feels like I've peaked). For anyone experiencing any form of anxiety or restlessness, I'd 100% recommend some mindfulness sessions. I downloaded Headspace and I like it tons!

Anyone have advice on improving RC? I'm honestly very satisfied with my LG and my LR is at least okay but I'm really struggling with RC. Anyone have advice in the last couple of weeks? My PTs have been all over the place and its freaking me out.

First full PT since taking in June (I've just been doing logic games): 79
LR1: -1
RC: -2
AR: -3
LR2: -1
Hilariously similar breakdown to my June result (just one fewer game question missed). Comes out to 174.

I've only done three days but I know in general I'm feeling better. It's only five mins per day too so doesn't hurt to try it. Headspace in particular only has ten free sessions but I want to continue it so probably going to do the monthly subscription. Let me know how it works for you!sev wrote:Whoa, this was amazing. Am I the only one who is pumped that the test is almost here and over with ?
If so, don't worry I'm not hiding my nervousness. I know how it feels but I'm fucking ecstatic that I'm most likely going to be done with this test after almost two years :') I need to get wasted right after the test!

I think almost all of us are going to be nervous on test day, that's a given. It's an important test, but once you realize you have studied and tried your best, you'll realize there isn't shit to be anxious about. if you go in confident and with a clear head, you will be fine.chewinggum wrote:I'm getting more anxious everyday! When we the last time you PT'd? I'm going to PT today, I was going to do 81 yesterday but I had things to do so had to move it to today.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
