I know we tend to think of our goal as building stamina which is always good but even going from not taking a break in PTs to taking a break real day can throw you off. Just as we have to train our minds to concentrate for longer periods make sure yours is also able to be "disrupted" for 15 mins and get back into it... In general I'm weary of the theory that doing things different in practice from test day is a good idea unless it's maybe adding one extra 6th section in after the break.

Niiiice. I'm seeing a pretty consistent relation between time off (and margaritas) and better scores in this thread.

Yeah I get you.

But I've experimented with different ways of PTing and I know what I can and can't do. If I do a 4 section PT, I just go straight through. if it's 5 sections I take the break but only for like 2 or 3 mins. 6 section PTs, which I have only done once, I did take a 15 min break. Overall, besides fatigue in the 6 section PT towards the very end, I think I'll be fine with the way I'm doing 4 section PTs. I totally get you though, it can come back to screw me but I'm willing to take that chance :P

Im thinking about doing a 6 section in the upcoming days for stamina. Thats impressive though that you dont take a break. My break helps my recharge so much haha

6 section PTs are good to build stamina, but I don't get fatigue from this test most of the time anymore since it's been so damn long already.

if it were up to me I'd tell my proctor to say fuck the break and let me continue lol

Today:

PT 74

LR1: -3 *
LG: -2 *
LGe: -1
RC: -4
LR: -4

-13 | 169

I really don't know how to categorize this test. All three sections before the break (*ed) were done with a 28 minute timer accidentally thanks to a setup mistake in the 7Sage proctor app. I did the first LR in the 28 minutes allotted, but I noticed something was wonky on the LG, and pushed through to the 35 minutes on my actual watch because I believed it more, plus gave myself an extra two minutes to allow for the uncertainty. I think had I done this normally, I would have been pressed for time, but not wasted time panicking with 6 questions left and "five minutes remaining", so IDK what to think of that section. With regards to the first LR, I notice that 2/3 errors were after the 5 minute warning, when I noticed myself stressed out about why time was being called so early. The RC is obnoxious, and I attribute it to nerves/confusion over the timer/certainty that I had flunked the LG and thus wasn't going to get back into the 170s.

Happy with that LR1 score, but frustrated that this test could have gone better in ideal conditions. I left at least 3-4 points on the board due to timing confusion.

PT 68

RC: -5
LR1: -4
LR2: -5
LG: -6

164/81 raw

This was my first timed PT ahead of September (I'm late, I know).I also had a experimental in there for a fifth section. Obviously, my LG sucks. Game 3 tripped me up. I frequently go -0 on LG untimed, however. Should I just do a bunch of timed LG sections for the next few weeks?

Yes, focus on LG. No reason to be getting a -6. That is just unfamiliarity with the section. study LG by the 7sage fool proof method (works wonders)

I hope this test wasn't a fluke because I'm very excited to have tied my best score as well as having my best score on a test in the 60-80 range.
Don't give up hope y'all; the late stage gains are possible!
Good job, and keep it up. Rooting for you.

Probably the first time I've posted in this thread looking for advice, which shows how desperate I am for confirmation (and how nervous I am for this test). Anyway, my section averages for LR is roughly -3/4 per section (ideally this would be <=-2 per section), and LG fluctuates between -0 and -2 (probably 4 exams at -0 or -1 for every -2). I'm looking for recommendations on where to focus these last 3 weeks. I feel like I have the largest opportunity to earn some points back in LR, which would mean foregoing additional LG practice/drilling. I think focusing on LR and ignoring LG is justified since at best I could save 2 points with LG improvements, whereas there are still up to 8 points on the table in LR. I used to be consistently -0 at LG but after spending the last 4 months doing LR and RC exclusively, some of the common stupid mistakes will bite me in the ass. Surprisingly I have 100% accuracy on the substitution rule questions, so it really is just mistakes on my part, not particularly the “tough” questions. Any opinions?

I am in a similar spot as you. I wouldnt drop LG completely but just back off of it and focus more on LR/RC. When im not PTing and reviewing or drilling I will focus more on LR at the start and majority of the day and in the evening when im tired or its a day being hungover or just out of it for one reason or another I will drill LG, because I feel like I have to be less focused for LG since its more of a game and kinda fun.

I havent been able to get under my -4 hump consistently yet, so I cant swear to the old gods and the new (Ha) that what i am doing is the best strategy, but as far as weights on focusing on certain sections i think my strategy is the best approach. You want to keep making your strengths as sttrong as you can. Think of it like working out. Just because your chest is your strongest muscle group doesnt mean you just stop doing bench and do arms everyday all day etc.

I hate RC, but what I'm most concerned about right now is the 2nd LR

I completely bombed the 2nd LR, RC kicked my ass too but I'm used to that

PT74

RC: -7
LG: -0 (3rd game was annoying af)
LR: -2 and -8 (??????????????????????????????????????????????             )

Hey, Cooley is the dream. But idk, if you get a 167 your score will only be 20 points above their 75th percentile and I just don't know if that'll cut it.

PT71

LR1 -2
RC -3
LG - 3
LR2 - 6

Overall: -14

168

Goals before the LSAT:
Solidify LG at no more than -4 and RC at no more than -5
Improve LR to a consistent -5 overall

I found PT65 pretty rough too (-14 curve is there for a reason). Did my worst on LR in a while and scrapped out a 172 on the back of RC and LG.
