Cannot believe the next two months are prepping blind without being able to see what I flunked. Although I suspect it was mediocre performance across the board.

Lousy start - did games from PT 69 (section 2), had 2 Qs unanswered when time ran out, and got 2 of the ones I answered wrong - first game seemed weirdly hard to get my head around, second and third were basically fine, fourth was a pain.Worst performance in an LG PT for a while (but I had two LGs in Sept, and turned the last game on each into a disaster, so prob where a bunch of score went).

Checking in!
After yesterday, I don't really know what to do and I'd love to hear what you guys think...I got a 167 on the september LSAT. That was an unusual score for me, as I was averaging 175. It was, however, a retake, so I pretty much only have one more shot at the LSAT. My question is: do you guys think I should apply now anyway or take the Dec exam and apply later in the cycle? Or maybe I should sit this one out, considering that it's my last chance, take the Feb/June LSAT and apply early next year?
My goal is to get into Harvard, so I was thinking about applying now and, in case I don't get accepted, taking the June LSAT and trying again next year. Would it be a bad idea? I have above average softs, a "superior" international eval and LORs from Harvard professors (I went there as an exchange student), so I feel like I could maybe take my chances now. I fully realize, though, that what really matters is the LSAT score, especially as an international applicant, and I'm afraid not getting accepted now might hurt my chances for next year. What do you guys think?
P. S. Sorry for the long post, but I'd really appreciate if you guys could help me out with this decision, bc it's deiving me crazy

WIsh there were a single thing I could point at. Instead, between the two areas I was most worried about (Lacquer and Virus) I only missed one question (14 on Lacquer), and I lost 11 points on the LR and 5 points on the woodland clearing passage. And in LR, as usual, there is no specific question type that gets me. It's a complete random grab bag of questions. I feel like I studied myself into a wall. I feel like there is a path to study that gets you to the upper 170s and 180 and I took a path that ends at the Lower 170s and now I have to back track. Only thing is I don't really know what to do differently.Greenteachurro wrote:Lol most of my anomaly was in the Virus game lost 6 points, pretty much made up all of my abnormal point loss. Guess I'll try to do all of the weird games from now until then. Happy studying.

Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Time to register! New Poll!
Question about (I think) unusual LR question-type.
In the European Sept test, one of the ones I didn't like at the time, and can't stop thinking about now, was a type I don't recall seeing on a PT. Basic formulation was: Multiple courses of actions are available to achieve a desired outcome. Which should they do. One of the answer choices was something like 'this course will attain the outcome. But the others will do it better, so should do one of those instead'. As the Euro tests are undisclosed, I'll never be able to check it. Does anyone know of a test with a similar question style that I could use to inspect the logic?

nimbus cloud wrote:Unless you are URM, you are almost certainly not going to get into Harvard with that LSAT. You will, however, have a real shot if you get something closer to your average score even if you apply in January (which is actually not that late). There are stories of people getting into Harvard in July - well after the application deadline! - because of a great score/GPA. Yes, that would have to be an exceptional candidate, but that's July we're talking about. TL;DR: you need a better score for Harvard. I'm URM but not in the usual sense, as I'm from a South American country, so i don't think that really counts in my case. I see your point about retaking...Thanks!

I would say hold off on your app until you take the December test. You're already prepared having an average of 175, it's just a matter of applying your skills on test day. I wouldn't think waiting an extra cycle will or even can help at that high a level.tsf wrote:Checking in!

Been lurking here for a while now, but forgot my previous account info so had to create a new one. Anyways, after screwing up on my september, just wanted to check in with all of you. Went over the sept lsat this morning and found that i missed 8 questions total of strengthen/justify. Guess I know what I'll be drilling now for next couple of days.

How far below your average were you ? Maybe you just tripped up like during the day. My first time through (this is currently my 3rd time), for example I like panicked and totally switched all of my methods for attacking questions to the versions that I heard were better and totally bombed the test (162). I think the thing is to develop consistency in methods, so go back do a little research maybe read through a powerscore book or one of the other ones and then stick with that method and perfect it.Instrumental wrote:WIsh there were a single thing I could point at. Yeah I def think that the test is easier to attack if you go for pure perfection because then at that point you're not allowing for "allowed misses" or anything like that which can totally change the dynamic of your studying.

No I already have a high score that I'm applying with ASAP, but I'd like to try and raise it and negotiate a higher scholarship in January/February after I receive some acceptances.dj9i27 wrote:yeah it's been done before, just have literally everything to go when you get your scores back. luckily we are all in a down slope of applicants still so they'll give out money.HennessyVSOP wrote:I'm thinking about it. No, but I think I should probably start doing so lol. I went at this alone my first time through and I think being able to communicate shit with other neurotics might help a bit. Have you had any experience with it?Mikey wrote:Anyone participate in the 7sage BR groups?
