Ok, this is a weird question. If I apply now and then retake and February would I be able to amend my application after a decision has already been made?

Serious question: Is your form number/test form serial number on your answer sheet supposed to match the form number they have posted under the disclosure books they have posted in your LSAC account?

My bf's score was sooo much lower than any practice test he's ever taken. It's unbelievable

I'm especially taking it personal because I was his test-prep coach

Really bummed about my score. Better than September, but not close to where I want to be. I've never even scored this low on a PT.

Anyways, I'm going to suck it up and use this month vacation from classes as an intensive prep for the February exam. Third times a charm..right?

Hopefully applying in February doesn't decimate my chances at admission.

Hands down the RC was the most difficult section on this test, followed by LG. The curve should have been a -13/ -14. Looks like schools will have a hard time making their medians this year.

RC was actually my best section -5, looked at the test and -3 would have been possible (got 2 main point ?'s wrong which is silly since I got the questions that followed right). The others rocked me. Blaaaaaaaaah

Haha. Same here. Stupid perfume passage! I hated it! I missed a question on every single reading passage, which never happens to me... Plus, I went from -4 on the September one to -6 here...

Good news:

The logical reasoning showed a general trend...

Two of the questions I got wrong fall under the same family (weaken/strengthen, which I think are the hardest questions)...

The other three were 2 "most likely support questions," and the final one was one of those difficult resolve the paradox questions...

Will definitely invest some time in those LR sections, since I know for a fact MBT gives me trouble when under duress, and weaken and strengthen baffle me at times because of their fine details.

Yeah edit out your post, Oskosh. We can only discuss the test questions once PT74 has been distributed to all the test prep companies, so save your comments/questions until next week once the test is available for purchase.

I'm obviously biased, but I think this LG was one of the harder LG sections in recent memory. Much more difficult than June or September. Pulling off a 170 with -7 in LG was a near miracle. I do agree that the curve should have been -13.

Same here. Hoping for the best, but I'm going into it basically thinking that if I don't get the outcome I want this cycle with my current numbers, I'm retaking and reapplying with new numbers. No compromises. We got this, guys.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Do we need a new set of LORs if we apply two cycles in a row?

I can't tell from this: Please note that recommendations already on file need not be duplicated. Applications for the Fall of 2012, 2013, and 2014 have been retained.

Does that mean we don't need new ones if we already have two on file, or does 3 on their list mean we do?

Edit: Ann Levine says you don't need new letters in the comments to this post, so it probably just means we need to get them any new/employer from gap year letters. Worth checking with adcoms, though.

Scored a 162. Up from 3 points from the 159 from September. I don't understand what's going wrong. My PT average has been a 170. I've studied through the Manhattan books, 7sage and the LSAT trainer. All my materials have been exhausted. I take PTs in as real conditions as possible and blind review every question. I feel like I worked as hard as I could for it. I studied for the LSAT starting from last December. My GPA is a 3.8 and I was shooting for a T-14 or even schools in SoCal like UCLA/USC. Like a lot of you, I don't want to waste time, effort and money into going to a lower ranked law school and come out with subpar results. It's not worth it at all. I graduate with a bachelor's degree in finance in May and I'm really thinking if I should just look into getting an MS in finance or an MBA instead. I'm debating if I should take it a third time or not in June. I feel like it may be a waste of time and should just move on. After a year, I'm sick and tired of studying for the LSAT and the anxiety/psychological stress it causes. I feel like I probably will get a similar score since I have studied as hard as I possibly could have and tried my best on both tests.

Are you 100% sure that you want to be an attorney?

If so, take a gap year, retake and get that 170+.

If not, throw some job applications out related to your finance degree and then get an MBA after a couple of years being employed.

2.) More importantly, for those of you upset with scores, if you were PT'ing above the score you got, what do you think happened? Were you PT'ing in inaccurate conditions/taking PT's you've already taken and thus had inflated PT scores? Test day pressure? Or was it something else?

I just went back and looked at my previous breakdown/took my ego out of things, and for 5 section PTs in full simulated conditions, pencils down at 35 mins, etc. the breakdown between what I scored on this test and what I was getting on my PTs was very similar—like LR/RC scores were very close to what I got on the last few PTs before the actual test. I just blew LG this time...hard

I didn't use it, partly bc I thought it was overkill (and partly because I'm lazy), but following that guide should definitely help you on your retake. Its effectiveness is more about the time and effort you put in, instead of something special about that guide. To answer your question: For LR, I performed how I normally did on PTs. For LG, I completely choked and went -7, when I was averaging -0/-1. For RC, I did much better than usual, which ended up saving my score. In terms of a routine, idk. I mean I drank a cup of coffee at around the same time every morning, so I continued doing that. I tried not to treat this test as anything special. I listened to music that I normally listen to while driving, and I didn't warm up, since I never did that with my PTs. I actually thought I bombed the test, but the LSAT will surprise you like that, both good and bad.

The score that he got from LSAC is what his score was. There is almost no chance of LSAC making a mistake with scoring.

The test form # (Box 12 on the scantron) is supposed to match what is written under the disclosure book column on LSAC.org
Check if he misbubbled or something.

I know I might sound a little crazy Yeezus to question the test, but how on earth does someone score 35 points lower than they've ever scored on over 10 practice tests (proctored by both myself AND his PowerScore course) AND feel fine once they leave the test? It's all so strange.

You'd be surprised to see what nerves can do to a test taker when it comes time to take the LSAT for real, when each question counts. And I hope I'm not coming across as a dick, but the truth is, 10 practice tests (or something around that number) is not nearly enough preparation. As Dirigo said, he should check to see if he misbubbled. If it really was 35 points, that could be a possible explanation. But even if that was the case, I'm not sure how appealing that would work.
