Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Had the last two days off, was meant to be super productive but spent them sick in bed sleeping 16+ hours a day.
Tried to do a timed LG section yesterday, but realised halfway through that I couldn't think or focus worth shit. Now I know why people who are unfortunate enough to get sick during the LSAT tend to suffer large drops in their score.
Going to the library with 20 RC passages today. Not leaving until library closes at 12. Finalising RC strategy

Hit my first 169 today (which may or may not be a fluke since my last highest was a 167) but a good motivation booster that I might manage to crack 170 before September

I've noticed no real correlation between drinking and PT scores. Currently at a loss as to wtf to do leading up to this test.

Can any full time workers in here chime in whether they're taking the week of the lsat off? What are you doing then? Might go ask my boss whether I could do that but would have to take it unpaid which sucks but I'm more worried about being gone from my desk

I work full-time. I'm not taking off. If your PTs are good with the schedule you're used to, why feel a need to change up your schedule for the real thing, unless you work 70-hr weeks, work nights, or are on call?

I didn't take any days off for June and am not planning on taking any off for September. Just maybe take a longer lunch on Tues and Wednesday if you think you need some more time. I preferred to not change anything from my normal schedule. Routine is a key ingredient in reducing stress. Minimal stress is a key to performing well.clueless801 wrote:Can any full time workers in here chime in whether they're taking the week of the lsat off? What are you doing then? Seconded. Two takes while working full time, didn't take off either time. When you get to the week before the test, "the hay is in the barn," as they say. You've put forward a lot of work and energy to get to this point, and now your job is to stay calm, remain steady, and make sure you're entering the test with your wits about you. Any major change to your schedule will likely throw you off your game.saf18hornet wrote:I didn't take any days off for June and am not planning on taking any off for September. I work full time and will be taking off the 2 full weeks before the test. I need to get away from work to get my mind 100% in LSAT mode. Plus it gives me time to get my schedule in order. Plan on taking a bunch of PTs at the same time and basically the same location as the real thing. Should feel routine come Sept 16.clueless801 wrote:Can any full time workers in here chime in whether they're taking the week of the lsat off? What are you doing then? Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Thanks everyone for your responses!!
I'm usually in the office until 6 and then sometimes til 6:30, 7. So not terribly late compared to other corporate paralegals but the job can get so mentally exhausting that studying after work is a struggle. I've been forcing myself to stay at the library until 10:30 every night, but my commute's a little over an hour from the library so it's almost midnight by the time I head to bed and then I'm up again at 8 in the morning to start all over. I wish I could say I'm getting a good night's sleep but I think stress is causing my insomnia. My PT scores are still fluctuating actually :/pricon wrote:I work full-time. I'm not taking off. Sigh, stress... yeah taking any days off stresses me out because then I feel like I'm falling behind on work even though the world will keep moving on without me.saf18hornet wrote:I didn't take any days off for June and am not planning on taking any off for September. This is very true! I'm taking the day before the test off at the very least so I'm at least physically rested.Pozzo wrote:Seconded. Two takes while working full time, didn't take off either time. Yup, this is what I was considering asking my boss. What all the other guys said was very true though so it's such a toss-up. I do feel like I need more time to study.Impressionist wrote:I work full time and will be taking off the 2 full weeks before the test. I need to get away from work to get my mind 100% in LSAT mode. Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
I haven't reported here in a while, so I'll put the one I just took:
PT 73
RC: -2
LR1: -5
LG: -2
LR2: -3
Total: -12 | 170
I'm pleased, but can't help noting that a low LR score sinks me a bit. That, combined with knowing I rushed through LG and missed out on a -0 leaves me happy with this score (it's my first time back in the 170s in about a month, and 170 is my baseline goal), but knowing I can do a little better. Can't help but also notice that the curve is -12 here, a standard -11 would leave me out of the 170s. Still pleased with the improvement, and finally feeling a little better about where I am right now in relation to September 16. I also took PT 69 on Monday, and got a 168, so I'm going to relax a little bit this evening. Back to the books tomorrow

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Do people actually feel as though the PTs with harsher curves were easier exams?
Might be confirmation bias or small sample size on my part, but from what I've seen from 7Sage's stats, it doesn't seem like there's much of a correlation between the curve and exam difficulty?

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
All the numerical value of the curve signifies is the flexibility of the test. By definition, the curve normalizes the difficulties between exams. However, a small curve means less flexibility. In other words, you are more likely to over- or under-perform, as opposed to getting right at your average, on a smaller curve than you are on a larger curve.
