Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Taking this weekend off helped me completely recover from my lackluster score on PT 78. Gonna do a bunch of untimed LR and RC today and tomorrow to just drill down accuracy, then do timed sections Wednesday and Thursday, with LGs interspersed when I feel like doing them. Then Friday I'm not even going to look at an LSAT question. I'm getting a pedicure and going out for a light dinner and then taking a Klonopin at 9:00pm.
Then 3 LGs, 3 hard RC passages, and maybe a full LR section on Saturday morning!

Monday's are my busiest days of class...Hoping to get through some jY LG game reviews (oh how I am going to miss hearing JYs voice for LG--Its gotten to the point that when I PT I think through the problem in his voice and do it just like he does it lol) from PT73 (I took this weekend) and hopefully 2 LR/LG sections spread out through the day. Took yesterday off after taking a PT73 so looking to grind the next 4 days and just read and relax on Friday

I can't remember for sure but you went right from HS to UG, right? If so, do it. I know it's a cliche to "do it when you're young" but it's so true. You really just have less ability to do that stuff when you're older.SweetTort wrote:Considering saying fuck it, withdrawng my TFA app, not applying to law school this year, and taking a year abroad.

Yeah, I just wish I could use my scholarship to go abroad AND not be considered KJD. Like, it sucks that I could graduate this Fall but in order to utilize that money I have to postpone graduation.
Then again, it is a pretty dope opportunity, and it would allow me to retake the LSAT, even if I get a good score the first time.

Gap-years are in bro...Malia Obama is doing one lmao. But seriously, if you have a good opportunity that could be awesome. And TFA - Teach for America? Isn't the typical placement abroad?SweetTort wrote:Considering saying fuck it, withdrawng my TFA app, not applying to law school this year, and taking a year abroad.

No, TFA is a 2 year commitment to teach in a low-income school in the US. I'm starting to get cold feet about applying, though.

if your year abroad is just taking classes abroad for a year, then it's not a gap-year, you're just taking you're UG classes elsewhere (assuming this is what you're doing) -- so I think you'd still be KJD if this if I'm right, and would think I am. TFA is a pretty prestigious soft for admissions though, especially at Penn and NU IIRC.SweetTort wrote:jagerbom79 wrote:Gap-years are in bro...Malia Obama is doing one lmao. Oh okay, that makes sense. I have two friends who I thought thats the program they were doing but they are teaching English to kids in Thailand and Brazil.proteinshake wrote:if your year abroad is just taking classes abroad for a year, then it's not a gap-year, you're just taking you're UG classes elsewhere (assuming this is what you're doing) -- so I think you'd still be KJD if this if I'm right, and would think I am. That sounds super dope, but definitely not TFA AFAIK.jagerbom79 wrote:Oh okay, that makes sense. Apparently, Testmasters explanations start to get *really* thin towards the end of the material haha.

I'll have 3 gap years and two months abroad under my belt by the time I start law school next year, and I am extremely happy with that decision. But you gotta do what's best for you!SweetTort wrote:Considering saying fuck it, withdrawng my TFA app, not applying to law school this year, and taking a year abroad.

PT 63: 170 (91)
Woke up at 6, but ended up not getting to start my warm up until after 9, test started at 10.
LR: -3
LG: -2
LR2: -2
RC: -3
Can't decide if i want to take another test Wednesday or not. Leaving off on this note would be pretty cool, but then again, scoring a bit high would really pump me up. 168 has been my average low score, with an average high of a 172.
Anyone know how hard/easy PT 64 is, as that'll be my last PT if i decide to take another.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I just took PT 77, which I actually took back in December. Studying for this cycle, this is the first time I did a PT which I had never looked at the answers for. (I'm doing 78 on Wednesday).
I've been averaging between 163 and 166, and I got a 167 for 77 (my highest score so far)
RC -4 (??? have NOT gotten less than -6 before)
LR -9
LG -2 (OH SWEET VICTORY OF ACTUALLY DOING DECENTLY WITH GAME 3)
I didn't expect to do well on this test since I had taken all the other PTs at least once when I studied for last year's cycle and I've never seen the right answers for 77. Yesterday was the first day I took the whole day off in over a month, so that might have helped.
I've never done this well on RC (why does this happen five days before the test??), so what do you guys think I should do from here? I don't know how I can study in the next four days for RC to do hopefully around as well as I did this time. I know there isn't really much at this point and it may just be an outlier (this one was on the easier side of RCs), but I'm not sure if I should actually stop ignoring RC (which is what I've been doing..) and actually drill or do sections or something.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Awww yeah, I wanted another 170+ score and got it this morning by the skin of my teeth.
PT 75
LR: -4
RC: -3
AR: -3
Score 170
Game two slowed me down soooo much. Part of it was because I misread a rule that fortunately was made evident in the first question, the main part was just that nothing was intuitive and I felt like I needed to brute force everything. I'm sure I'll go to 7sage and see that there's an easy approach D: Still, I'm happy with the outcome. Best score I've gotten in over a month.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I found that the Powerscore RC bible helped me quite a bit. I was all over the place with RC scores and using that book helped me better attune my focus where it needed to be. Kind of late in the game since it's a fairly long book, but you may be able to glean some good info on the basic stuff. eg. VIEWSTAMP (focusing on Viewpoint, Structure, Tone, Argument, Main Point). I also really find that it helps to read through all of the answer choices before jumping to the text because usually the right answer will jump out, or at the very least you can eliminate obvious wrong ones and focus your efforts on the remaining. Good luck man. I'm kind of going through something similar. RC only started to click a few PTs ago and everything is starting to come together just a few days before the test. Still better than a few days after though!studyingeveryday wrote: I've never done this well on RC (why does this happen five days before the test??), so what do you guys think I should do from here? I'm taking more PTs and drilling. A lot of people are mellowing out, but I think those are also the ones more consistently getting high scores too. Just watch out for burnout. Don't want to have that happen right before the test.thatlawlkid wrote:Can't decide if i want to take another test Wednesday or not. So, here's a question:
If you're not applying this Fall, how bad would you have to do to retake?
