Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
did 2 sections today.
-0 on PT 56 LG -- it was a cakewalk imo (2/5 difficulty).
-5 on PT 39 RC -- idk why I keep doing better on the harder passages. the last two passages were 5/5 and I went -1 across both. the first two passages were 2/5 and 4/5 and I went -4 across both. curve on this test was -12 so it might seem worse than it is out of context. regardless, I do think my RC has gotten better lately.

Hi Everyone,
Do you guys have any advice/tips for how to handle questions that have 2 very close (and/or tempting) answers in LR or RC? Are there any things/signs in particular that you look for? For a few examples of what I mean, please refer to: 65.4.21 (answer choices C & E), 65.1.22 (answer choices C & E). I know that these questions are both "ID the role" Q's, but my question is moreso regarding just nuanced problems in general (because everyone knows LSAC *loves* those).
I don't have problems IDing reasoning structures at all (I *always* ID premises and concs correctly), and in the end, I do understand why TCR is what it is. I just spent a long time on these problems (def longer than I should have
), debating between the 2 answer choices, and wondering if you guys had any tips for speeding up during nuanced questions.
TIA!

Oh hot damn guys, I didn't realize they teach hypnotism in law school. I might be reconsidering my decision not to apply now.

He again put the woman in a trance, according to documents filed by the Lorain County Bar Association seeking Fine’s emergency suspension.
Fine reportedly told her that she would have the “most massive, most incredible, most powerful whole body orgasm in your entire life,” that she was “being made love to by the world’s greatest lover” and she would not cancel her next meeting with him, the suspension motion states.

I look at the differences between both options and try to find a flaw in either choice. Sometimes I'll re-read the prompt to see if there was a detail I missed that stands out.JessiCAL wrote:Hi Everyone,

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Guys,
The stress of test day seems to be getting to all of us now, and I'm seeing more and more people getting frustrated by their recent PTs. Please do bear in mind that not having confidence is a very slippery slope - it's very easy for our anxiety of the test to cause us to doubt whether we are fully prepared for the test or not, which leads to us us to second guess the decision making and habits that we've spent so much time honing and perfecting in the past couple of months, which leads to an outlier PT score, which further destroys our confidence...you can see where this is headin', and it certainly doesn't bode well on test day.
Plus, from what I've read in this thread so far, I've learnt so much from all of you, all of you are have amazing skills for this test, and there's absolutely no reason not to think that you guys are well prepared for it, regardless of what one PT says.
Might be a bit of over-exaggeration, but I believe everyone in this thread has prepared for this test better than 98% of the test-takers out there, and what's the 98th percentile score? A 171!
Keep your heads up!! You bright people can absolutely smash this!!
(Apologies if any of this doesn't make sense - haven't had my first coffee of the day yet.)

Generally you shouldn't have trouble picking between 2 in LR.JessiCAL wrote:Hi Everyone,

In RC, you just gotta go back to the passage and check.

That pep talk is much needed. This is the part where I am cranky at the whole scenario. It is ridic to me that a curve where 1 answer = 1 point means this mythical difference in thousands of dollars of aid. I get that bands matter, but it is just ridic.

@34iplaw -
Went to on a wine run tonight for my fun-day tomorrow. Bought some decent Prosecco for brunch and then I was going to buy the Gascon Malbec you recommended, but they didn't carry it, unfortunately. Instead the guy recommended the Chateau Haut Theron Malbec from Cahors and said its very similar to the Gascon and not as full as Argentinian Malbecs. Will let you know how it goes...Maybe youve tried it? Hear it pairs perfectly with a 180 lol
Cheers to the weekend guys and to a successful exam next week! We're on the home stretch.

I had dreams about logic games and logical reasoning, lol. I was creating LR arguments within conversations and finding the conclusions in them (drilling in my sleep?), and then later I was doing something, not sure what, but I think I was an actual entity in a logic game and trying to get in order somehow.
This test has definitely taken over my life lol.

Can you take PT on Monday and then BR on Wednesday after your exam? Or is the exam really late? It also depends how much you think that will stress you out :/TheMikey wrote:BR part of PT78 today.. and the other half tomorrow..

Tuesday: study for my test throughout the day and go over at least 1 section this day
Wednesday: test in the morning, BR the rest of the 3 sections and then rest on thursday/friday.
will be shitty, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, huh? lol

Yep! Honestly, I don't want to rush it but if I could get through 3 sections today of BR, I'll BR the last section tomorrow morning and do the PT tomorrow. But i'm not going to rush it, but if it happens then this will be my game planstudyingeveryday wrote:That sounds pretty doable (not too much fun, but at least you'll rest Thursday and Friday)!TheMikey wrote:my exam is around 9:30 a.m. this could be my schedule for this week:studyingeveryday wrote:Can you take PT on Monday and then BR on Wednesday after your exam?
