so obviously that's a terrible RC performance, but at least I can totally bomb it and still get a 171. the last passage had 6 questions and I only got 1 right, probably because I was pretty rushed for time. let this be a lesson to not spend more than a minute or a minute and a half on ANY question.
goal is for sure a 173 though.

Hi guys. Im new here. Trying to break the 155 mark. I've been using Kaplan, which has been great, but I really need at least a 156 if I'm gonna get into YHS. I have a great GPA and an amazing/really unique soft so I think I can do it.

I wouldn't stop studying the week before for no reason, I would just make sure you take it easy and don't go into a mode of panic and go completely overboard in a "Cramming" Fashion. I am going to still PT and study through the week and if one day I need to rest, I will take the day off.ashrice13 wrote:I'm thinking about doing as many PTs as possible this week and then only doing 78 next week....but I'm kind of too scared to take that much time off next week.

I do think that, if I get a really good PT in the next week or so, that I may not score the ones I do after that. If I get another 175 or so, I'm not going to wreck the confidence with some shitty RC passage haha.jagerbom79 wrote:I wouldn't stop studying the week before for no reason, I would just make sure you take it easy and don't go into a mode of panic and go completely overboard in a "Cramming" Fashion. Did a bunch of RC today, and I've been doing some supplemental LR questions by type. I just did 25 (well, I was trying to get as many done as I could in 35 minutes hoping to be at that 24-26 mark) of MBT and MalmostBT questions that all appeared in the last 10 or so questions of their respective tests. So, it was a pretty good pace I think to get through mostly later section questions.
I missed one, and it's one I marked. There were one or two easy ones there... including one of the most uncomfortably easy questions that I've ever encountered...June 2003 LR 1 #3

Yeah, you're right. At least working FT I know exactly when I can get study and get down to doing that each day. Trying to balance readings and assignments with the LSAT on top of varying class times last year was hell.

Yeah. Got through the summer working FT + lsat but now the semester's started I really don't think I'd be able to keep this up for much longer.(Fortunately, I won't have to.) Major rops to Dec/Feb lsat peeps in UGPhiladelphiaCollins wrote:+1ashrice13 wrote:As someone who works full time I do not envy everyone who is in school right now. I'm on -3s in LR at the moment, the problems are mainly in NA and identify a conclusion - some of the ACs have bloody negation traps that I fell right through in NA and I keep making stupid mistakes in conclusion Qs. Some drills today and I'm sure I'll be back on -1/-2s.Alexandros wrote:Right? Ugh. I knew I was fucking something up because I kept getting two answers that would work, but I couldn't figure out what.
btw, your pep talk about PT72 being a statistical outlier was bang on - just did PT73 timed but in sections, got a 173. Looks like (some of) my skills are still there after all
Glad to hear it!Though not at all surprised.
How's LR going? I'm think I'm gonna be going through all the LR from 71-77 (and 78 when I get there) and picking them apart to make sure I'm solid on the reasoning/idiosyncrasies of the 70s.
Defo doing the same with all the 70s when I'm done with them.

Good idea! Thanks for this. Prob going to do this and the games if I can or at least as many of them as I can.galeatus wrote:I'm on -3s in LR at the moment, the problems are mainly in NA and identify a conclusion - some of the ACs have bloody negation traps that I fell right through in NA and I keep making stupid mistakes in conclusion Qs. Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I keep making the stupidest mistakes by misreading a word in either the stimulus or answer choices in LR--and by misreading rules in LG. I think I just need to slow down, but it's making me so anxious because I know misreading is largely keeping me from getting 164-166 which I'm averaging to a few points higher, ugh.
Anyone have any tips to get past that? I do need to slow down since I tend to have a few extra minutes in LR wrong but average -3 to -5 wrong anyway, but anything besides that?

If you are making stupid mistakes then you just aren't taking your time/thinking clearly. Try going through the section a little more at ease and not worry about time when you do it because if you already have a few extra min consistently then its clear you can work in the allotted time-- now just make sure you don't stress about it and let it negatively affect your performance.studyingeveryday wrote:I keep making the stupidest mistakes by misreading a word in either the stimulus or answer choices in LR--and by misreading rules in LG. I think my favorite LR question is the one where the stim argues that parents should teach their children to reach high shelves so they don't become short.

I'm pretty sure I did that one recently. I'm kind a fan of right handedness conveying a survival advantage. IIRC, there was one that was kind of really messed up or morbid once in some kind of really dark humor way.Alexandros wrote:I think my favorite LR question is the one where the stim argues that parents should teach their children to reach high shelves so they don't become short.

I like the one (I think it's a Principle question) where some kid advocates that his parents go to psycho therapy to help save their marriage.Alexandros wrote:I think my favorite LR question is the one where the stim argues that parents should teach their children to reach high shelves so they don't become short.
