Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I cannot seem to get fast enough on logic games where I can finish the section nearly perfectly in the allotted time. However, I can finish them perfectly (or nearly so) each and every time given at most an extra 7-10 minutes. Hence, when I have to push and push to the point of feeling as if I am losing control, I end up missing several questions at times. How have you all progressed when studying for LG? What happened when things clicked for you? Am I not drilling enough games, which wouldn't allow for a sufficient amount of anticipation when going through it? So frustrating...

I think I am at a similar stage. I always figure out games, and sometimes I can do them quickly, but overall I'm not fast enough. But my LG diagnostic was like -10 so I've made strides. Drill baby, drill.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Did 4 LG sections today:
PT 50 -4 (32 min) misread a rule on the last game, that's where all the misses came from. Read as F can't be with H or K instead of H can't be with F or K
PT 48 -0 (28)
PT 47 -1 (25)
PT 46 -0 (29)
I set a stopwatch just to see how long it takes me but I don't look at it throughout the section trying to get under 35 minutes. I just let it take as long as it takes in an effort to improve accuracy and I still end up misreading some rule/answer choice/etc. Super annoying.

For those who took the June 2015 test, was the LG section difficult?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Lots of people were really thrown off by it because the set ups were weird, but I thought they were pretty simple once you got over the odd rule system. Finished with about 3-4 minutes left and didn't miss any, when on PTs I normally finish right at time and miss 1 or 2. I practiced a lot of the old tests which I think helped me a lot on this section but hurt me on LR.Monkey D Luffy wrote:For those who took the June 2015 test, was the LG section difficult?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Immediately after finishing I thought that it was the easiest LG section I had yet done (I took 3 practice tests prior to the actual test so not enormously meaningful), but people seemed to be really caught up on the last game (magazine articles). It kind of psyched me out because I thought the last game was particularly easy. After reviewing the test I stand by that; I think the uniqueness of it threw off the people who had done a ton of studying because they were not prepared for it (not saying not to study, just saying that don't let studying bring you to a place where you are totally unprepared to deal with anything new)Monkey D Luffy wrote:For those who took the June 2015 test, was the LG section difficult?

Are you guys able to tell what type of game you categorized it as, or is that not allowed yet?QuentonCassidy wrote:Immediately after finishing I thought that it was the easiest LG section I had yet done (I took 3 practice tests prior to the actual test so not enormously meaningful), but people seemed to be really caught up on the last game (magazine articles). I didn't categorize the game because I haven't learned any of the categories or techniques, but I am pretty sure that we still aren't allowed (I saw some thread just a few days ago about not saying any specifics from the June 2015 test), but idk maybe a mod can help with this answer if I'm wrong.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
It wasn't really that difficult when I reviewed it and reworked all the games. However, during the actual test, a combination of the peculiarity of the set-ups along with nervous energy threw me off and I ended up missing more than usual. Basically, the games can only be so difficult but as a means to create some originality/complexity it seems as though the test-makers conjure up unusual or oddball games, which if you aren't sufficiently prepared, then it can be somewhat confusing. I'm starting to think that being exposed to the most far-reaching variations of combo game-types (within the 'normal' categories like: in and out, linear, over/under-funded, etc.) is the best way to make sure that LG isn't 'difficult' come test time. That's just my opinion.Monkey D Luffy wrote:For those who took the June 2015 test, was the LG section difficult?

I thought they were easier than usual, however if you were expecting to categorize them and follow a studied plan, then I could see how someone could get thrown off.Monkey D Luffy wrote:For those who took the June 2015 test, was the LG section difficult?

Checking in. First time. Using an online prep course and some independent study resources. Been at this for about a year now.

I'm taking a 6 section PT (55) tomorrow, blind reviewing and then celebrating my 30th birthday with lots of bourbon and a fine cigar. Nothing (or very little) will be accomplished on Sunday, because I will probably be massively hungover. Happy studying folks.
