I don't have any other Ws, but if I get a B in this class my GPA will be could be 3.7ish. The thing is I have to take this class because it is required, but I was thinking that maybe I could drop it and take it at a community college.

a good LSAT score will render them equally inconsequential.

I'd take the W. Why are you settling for a B so early in the semester though? Do you go to your professor after every class? Drop in on all their office hours with questions? Email them with articles related to the class they might find of interest?
Squeaky wheel and all.

Re: February 2014 Waiters
Well I have taken 4 other French classes at this school and every class is structured the same 2 exams, essays, etc., and I already feel like this class is going to be almost impossible to get an A in.
I have 9 weeks until I can drop so I have some time. But would a 3.75 really make much of a difference from a 3.8 in URM admissions?

If you get to the drop deadline and you're still pretty sure you'll get a B, I would definitely drop it. Maybe 3.8 --> 3.75 won't make a difference, but maybe it will.90convoy wrote:Well I have taken 4 other French classes at this school and every class is structured the same 2 exams, essays, etc., and I already feel like this class is going to be almost impossible to get an A in.

Stop relying on your URM status. Go up to the professor and ask what you need to do to get an A. Can you do it? If so, keep going with the class. If not, take the W.90convoy wrote:Well I have taken 4 other French classes at this school and every class is structured the same 2 exams, essays, etc., and I already feel like this class is going to be almost impossible to get an A in.

Why WOULD you settle for a 3.75 when you can get a 3.8? No excuses.

Score above a 170 and your transcript can have more "W's" than UCONN's women's basketball team. Nonetheless, I would stick it out for the simple fact that chicks love guys who can speak French.

Thanks, but I wasn't relying on my URM status. It was a legitimate concern because URM admissions can be different

Re: February 2014 Waiters
Trust me, I understand URM can be different, but I also understand that you should be in the mindset of putting yourself in the best possible position to be accepted (with scholarship money) without depending on the URM status. Know what I mean?90convoy wrote:sanibella wrote:Stop relying on your URM status. Go up to the professor and ask what you need to do to get an A. Can you do it? If so, keep going with the class. I understand you have a legitimate concern, and I certainly hope I didn't seem harsh. I am sorry if my post made you feel any sort of negative way.
And if you need any help with French assignments, you can PM me.
