Re: The Official February 2015 Study Group
Well I've been took my lurking on the forums for the last month and a half or so. I took my cold diagnostic about two months ago and got a 166. Since then I've taken over a dozen PTs to get ready for the Feb test. My last three tests have been 172, 173 and 175 with the last one being a 5 section PT 73. The only thing freaking me out now is getting nervous on test day and second guessing all of my answers. Whenever I get a weird pattern (Like 3 in a row or all to one side for 6+ questions) I start worrying I screwed something up and start feeling like I should go back. Right now its taking a lot of willpower to keep moving and I worry I'm going to choke on test day.
Still, Feb. 7th can't come soon enough.

Anyway I graded my PT before BRing because I am a feckless whore, and holy shit 174. -3 combined LR, -4 RC, and -0 (!!) LG, which I finished 10 minutes early (!!!!) giving me time to rework my gameboard for one of the games and catch the one mistake I did make. The thing I'm happiest about is actually that I had no timing issues whatsover, which is super rare for me.
Going to BR for real now and then drill RC more, but I'm pretty pleased.

How in the world did you finish a LG section 10 minutes early!? I feel I'm doing okay on those and the best I've ever gotten was 5 minutes. 10 minutes blows my mind.leslieknope wrote:Anyway I graded my PT before BRing because I am a feckless whore, and holy shit 174. -3 combined LR, -4 RC, and -0 (!!) Congrats on the 174 and especially on getting the timing down. That is definitely a key component IMO.

Pretty sure nlee said literally the exact same thing yesterday. Is the reason for the universal meh response to a 167 that it's Cornell and gtown's median? There's some really interesting psychology going on in the 166-169 rangezacboro wrote: Got a 167 on today's PT which I'm not proud of, but I'm not overtly mad at.
Anyway, I took a PT yesterday and got a 168 so I decided to take a day off - which ended up amounting to me not taking any sections and doing LG all day. An extra point or two for $ negotiations would be clutch, but damn will it suck not to beat 170.
Also, CONGRATS on the great PTs today guys

Re: The Official February 2015 Study Group
Grats on the PT scores ITT!
Also, Zacbro - I dropped the ball yesterday, my apologies. Here's Shaq's guide to BR.
Step one: Download the 7Sage proctoring app. Set the voice to your liking. I like to use JY's because he's my idol.
Step two: Set all devices to airplane mode or turn them off (except for the one you'll be using the app on, le duh). Have your watch in front of you - the one you'll be using on test day. Even though the app will be timing automatically, you still want to be practicing with a watch. People tend to forget this, and then they get frazzled day of because they haven't practiced with an actual analog watch.
Step three: Have your scantron handy and 5 section PT ready to go. I recommend putting your experimental in the first three sections. Get those pencils sharpened and ready to go.
Step four: Set the 7Sage app to a 5 section PT and hit start.
-----
Step five: While you are taking the test, use your pencil to note questions that gave you difficulty. For example, for questions I was 30-50% unsure, I did a normal circle around the question # in the booklet. For questions I was 50%+ unsure of, I did a dark circle. And imagine frustration mid-test - it was a very dark, heavy circle. Your point might break at this point. Fret not, for you have backup pencils handy. Swap one out.
Step six: Finish the exam.
-----
Step seven: Take a 15 minute to an hour break. Drink some water. Shake yourself out.
-----
Step eight: Return to the exam. Start your BR. I like to BR everything, but pay special attention to ones I've noted with a light or heavy circle. Take your time. Understand the underlying concepts and the reasoning behind your AC's.
Step nine: Grade! I suggest using the 7Sage LSAT analytics for this, if you haven't been already.
Step ten: I like to take a purple pen and grade directly on my scantron. I'm a very visual person, so that aspect helps. I'll use the purple pen and circle questions I got absolutely wrong (inclusive of pre and post-BR).
Step eleven: With a blue pen, I'll bubble in my second attempts.
Step twelve: If I get anything wrong after post-post-BR, I'll use a red pen and angrily box out answers on my scantron.
Ideally, you'll have an excel sheet handy to track these mistakes. I got lazy and rushed in my prep and stopped doing this. I will be more diligent this time around.
Hope this was useful. I just really like colors. I recommend using V-5s. Those are my favorite pens.

Re: The Official February 2015 Study Group
The LSAT convinced me it was okay to spend $200 on powerbeats 2 by dre cause I've only missed 15 LR questions in the five sections I took today.
