Hang in there my friend, you are already ahead of the game by beginning to study now for the June Test. I'm 27 myself as we speak and won't be applying until after the June test. I read a post a few weeks ago by TLS'ers who were trying to convince someone that it is indeed worth it to put your life temporarily on hold to score in the 99 percentile, the general consensus is that this time will pay off!

I'm kind of wondering the same thing... Particularly whether putting in less time per day over a longer period of time will yield similar or better results.
I did this for my first retake and would recommend. Less stress and chance of burnout and you still have the ability to have a social life. I had a good score increase after doing this

Hey folks! Today I did three warm-up games and a 5 game LG section under a 40 minute timer. The Logic games were a mix and match of 5 randomly chosen games that I have printed out from the Cambridge site and all predate PT 38. 7Sage says that the recommended time for the total of 5 games is 35 minutes. I scored 33/35 correct with the two I missed being mistakes I shouldn’t have made, but nonetheless learned from. I’m dedicating 90 minutes per day Monday-Friday for LG. I have made a spreadsheet of every game from PTs 1-62, I plan on doing them between 15-20 times apiece, even games that many consider “extinct.” I do the “snakes and Lizards" game every Friday, two Fridays ago I finished it in just under 17 minutes with a -2 :( So far I have done just under 200 games as part of my prep. My goal for the LSAT is a +175, this means an almost given that my games section has to be -0. I hope all is well and happy prepping!

P.S.-I'm no expert in the games, but when I'm stuck for 30, 40, 45 seconds I am finding it increasingly useful to ask myself: "what is LSAC asking me to do here?" an answer to that question often yields that what they want me to do is 1.remember the rules in detail 2.understand 2,3 and possibly 4 steps backwards and forwards of what the rules will cause to happen. I think this is what people mean when they say that if you do enough games-the underlying logic of them are very similar. But I could be wrong

Checking in. I've been lurking this forum for awhile, not really sure where to start, but I plan on taking the June test, so this seems like a good place to start!

My plan is to get all three powerscore bibles and the two most recent "10 More LSAT" volumes. I want to take a blind test first to see where I'm at and what sections give me the most trouble, then focus on that Powerscore bible first, then work through the other two. After that, start drilling the PT's and reviewing specific sections as needs arise. I want to start in January.

Thoughts on this? I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of this, never really had to self-direct myself to study for something to this degree, but I know how huge this test is. It does help that my course load will be manageable next semester, and I'll have plenty of free time to devote to studying.

Welcome JW! TLS is a wonderful resource to have at our disposal, there are plenty of people willing to help and lend advice who have not only been through the study-grind but have been successful on test day! The consensus here on a diagnostic test (from what I have read) is very-much mixed. I did not take a diagnostic test and didn't take my first timed PT until about a month into studying. Ideally (again, this is from what I have read) people take a diagnostic test to understand which areas they should focus on, for instance: questions that one can arrive at the CR through the use of formal logic or questions that deal with a flaw. Fashioned in this precise manner a diagnostic can be very useful. On the other hand, a diagnostic can be quite a downer, missing 18 or 19 questions on LR one's first try can be overwhelming to anyone. I personally have come to think about diagnostics tests through the use of analogy: if one were to walk into a boxing gym for the first time, would they be expected to spar 5 3 minute rounds? No. They would first and foremost have to have an understanding of the basics and fundamentals (The Powerscore books), have built reliable techniques (timed drilling to understand patterns) and lastly-built endurance (2 sections, 4 sections, 5 sections) before any reliable trainer would expect them to spar. My recommendation would be (especially if you are carrying credits next semester) read the Powerscore books cover to cover, do all the exercises, do the sample problems and then move forward from there! Good luck and stay in touch!

Hey, y'all!

So, I'm wondering, is it too late to start studying for February? Basically I have all of December free, and then classes in January and February. For reference, my PT average (a few months ago) was a 168-170, and my goals are 173+.

Should I postpone to June, or sit for February?

OK, can I get some more advice from y'all on when to take the LSAT and how to proceed?

I studied a bit last year, then decided not to take it, so I certainly didn't take this test "cold". However, it was my first contact with the LSAT since February, so I think there's room for improvement.

PT 45:
Score: 168
LR1: -0
RC: -6
LG: -5
LR2: -4

Two questions:
1) How do I proceed from here, especially in regards to RC?
2) Would it be a good idea sitting for February, considering this is where I'm at now?

Just out of curiosity, is the LG -5 typical of what you've seen? An improvement from where you started? I see a lot of guides here on TLS say that is one area you can reasonably expect to get up into the -1 territory consistently. If you do that, then you're up over 170. I say this as someone who has not begun studying in earnest, so I can't say from experience whether or not that's the case. Here are the Guides I'm talking about:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 6&t=200917

Yeah! I actually started missing 10+ per LG section. So i just need to drill the hell out of them until I can go -0 consistently.
