This. I get really motivated to get home and start reviewing when I study at lunch.FlyingNorth wrote:Nice, AP.
Kept me honed in on a daily basis and if I didn't do well on a practice section, it got me excited to go home and work on improving.

Just to clarify, we'll be talking about what our general strategies are for studying for a retake and hopefully try to synchronize our schedules to keep each other motivated and on track.
See you all at 8pm EST.

Re: June 2014 Retakers
Hey- we had a pretty good turn out and we all decided to follow the schedule below:
--LinkRemoved--
We'll use The Trainer's 12-week Standard Workload + 7 Extra Exams but we'll be completing it in half the time. So next week we'll begin with Week 1 and Week 2, the following week we'll complete week 3 and week 4, and so on.
If you take a look at the schedule you'll see that, in addition to lessons, it includes Review days (or sessions), PTs, and drills. We're all gonna work at our own daily pace but agreed to complete the same amount of work (2 weeks minimum) each week. This way, if you are having trouble with something you can adjust your schedule to have additional drills, take extra PTs if needed, or just skip a lesson if you want.
If we follow this schedule, we'll have completed the Trainer by the end of February. March and April would be for PTing (and hopefully Reviewing as a group) and drilling weaknesses.
The point of forming the group is to help and keep each other motivated so we'll be meeting (as a group) almost every week. We can also use this thread for daily/weekly updates or for help. We still have the same link to the chat room so we can use it whenever needed. http://tinychat.com/juneretakers
If anyone else would like to join, just let us know. We'll be making adjustments along the way so comments/suggests are welcome.

Re: June 2014 Retakers
Thanks for the recap, Dasani! I think I'll be skipping the Trainer this time around, but may be combining some lessons with my MLSAT/PS plan. I would definitely like to be included in the drilling and PT reviews.

I am reluctant to get the lsat trainer after I looked at the Free chapters and they look like lots of fluff. Instead I already have powerscore LG and LRB Cambridge LG 1-38 and will soon get Cambridge LR. I hear really good things about the Manhattan LR. Can anyone verify the LSAT trainers effectiveness?

I was really impressed with the LSAT Trainer website. I think I am going to use it as a supplement to my blueprint prep.Logicgames14 wrote:I am reluctant to get the lsat trainer after I looked at the Free chapters and they look like lots of fluff. Depends on your learning style but I used the LSAT Trainer for the December administration and I would live and die by that book. It's incredibly effective at teaching you the proper habits for taking the LSAT, but if you like a more formulaic understanding of the test then go with the bibles and MLSAT.Logicgames14 wrote:I am reluctant to get the lsat trainer after I looked at the Free chapters and they look like lots of fluff. Re: June 2014 Retakers
The good thing about the trainer is it covers all 3 sections- and IMHO one of the better things for RC. LR is good too. Anecdotally, I was PTing like 165ish when I started and mid-high 170s when I finished.Logicgames14 wrote:I am reluctant to get the lsat trainer after I looked at the Free chapters and they look like lots of fluff. Re: June 2014 Retakers
hey guys, back again.
I just started reprepping today. Did about 10 Linear Balanced Games. I did all within my 8 minute limit, however I got 2 questions wrong (one per different game). I think that's a great start coming back into prep. I just need to keep my diagramming a little neater then I'll start hitting no questions wrong.
I like the plan for the study group thing. I was more or less planning to read a chapter in the trainer then drill cambridge so I'm not sure how I would fit into that. I really don't plan on reading the LG chapters in the trainer since I usually go 0-2 wrong in LG that it's more or less just maintaining consistency down to zero wrong for me.
Let me know what you guys think! Looking forward to seeing all of our scores rise after a non-ideal December score.

Also, we decided to have another meeting via Tinychat on 1/21 @ 8 PM EST. (I think this was the agreed upon time/date. Correct me if I'm wrong.)dasani13 wrote:Hey- we had a pretty good turn out and we all decided to follow the schedule below:

Re: June 2014 Retakers
Thanks, piper- yeah that date sounds right.
So we'll add sashafierce, Logicgames14 and Shasha Dew to the group. I think that makes it about 8 of us now.
Update:
I started the Trainer and did the first 4 lessons so PT 52 is next on the schedule. I'm planning on taking it early this upcoming week to get it out of the way, is anyone else ready for it and would like to review together? I'll probably be taking it on Tuesday and review Wednesday.

Ugh, looks like the Trainer won't be here for a little bit longer...Since I want to get started, I am going to read Manhattan LG and then go back to the Trainer when it finally arrives. Hopefully I can catch up to everyone who has started!

Well...I was PTing at 174~180 (ave 177+) before Oct, and then anxiety hit me hard. I didn't study as much before the Dec test; more about adjusting mentality.jlk411 wrote:How long did it take you to make the leap?bbkk wrote:Just stop by and say GL guys. Don't give up. I did work pretty hard before the Oct test though. In total I'd say I've done all the PTs at least twice, 60-69 at least 3 times.
Hard work pays.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
