Were you consistently scoring 180 on PTs before the real thing? I've been getting high 170s consistently with only 180 so far, and I'm trying to figure out what the best plan is for Saturday. I suppose it wouldn't make much sense to cancel a score in the high 170s (if I should be so fortunate), but I wonder at times...
The amount of PTs I took was really low by TLS standards, about half a dozen total, and only a couple of those after most of my practice, so I was not consistently scoring 180s.
Even though my practice was aimed at maximizing 180 chances, I think I had maybe a 50/50 shot at getting a 180, perhaps a little less. So, chance will play a part in the score you get. The goal is to minimize it as much as possible.
And don't worry too much about the last few points. I don't know about your exact GPA & target schools, so I can't answer with confidence, but the people in this thread saying 177 and 180 aren't really different are correct in most instances. While I do think the perfect improved my chances, for the vast majority of GPA/LSAT/school combinations there is not a whole lot of difference between 177 and 180. If you have a decent GPA (say ~3.7+) I don't think it will have any effect on your chances.
