Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Would anyone be able/willing to diagram and walk me through Question 24 from Preptest 63 Section 3 (LR)? I tried diagramming it out, and I got a wrong answer because of my diagram. The explanation on manhattan prep wasn't really helpful to me because I usually like to see the answer to these types of questions with a diagram.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I'm doing well on time for most sections but I still stress that any time spent doing something other than the test is wasted. So I usually just remember where we started, ballpark the endpoint to give me an approximation of how much time is left (I could figure it out exactly but that'd take more than a glance and, as I said before, would stress me out) and go from there. After taking ~15 PT's I have a pretty good internal timer so that's mostly what I rely on. Main point being, I use as little time as possible to check my time.whacka wrote:I just move it to the 12, my watch is pretty easy to reset so it takes literally like 3 seconds to move it to the 12buckiguy_sucks wrote:How do you guys deal with timing? Do you just count 35 minutes from whatever time it is, do you reset your watch to 12 every time so 35 minutes is the 7, or do you have one of those LSAT watches?
EDIT: Also, hi, first post but I've been lurking for awhile. So hi.

So I am not personally a fan of diagramming for LR in general, sometimes I find it helpful for parallel reasoning questions that have shorter stims.
But here goes nothing:
Support:
1)Rise in blood pressure from aging commonly associated with calcium def.
2)Calcium deficiency freq. caused by a lack of vitamin D
3)Vitamin D is necessary for body to absorb calcium
4)Milk has calcium to make up for calcium deficiency in older people,
Conclusion:
Therefore, geezers can lower BP by drinking milk.
Gap: Does milk have type of Vitamin D/other things that cause calcium def?
Remember these aren't conditional statements because of inclusion of terms like "frequently"
Get older -- > Vitamin D to absorb calcium deficiency --> Calcium deficiency --> Blood pressure rise
Conclusion: Drink milk --> Calcium intake --> not blood pressure rise
Great, but does intaking calcium actually solve the problem? No, you need to know they can absorb the calcium they are getting from the milk.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Just took PT 69
Score: 173
LR1 (-3)
LG (-1)
RC (-1)
LR2 (-3)
There were 2 LR questions and 1 RC question that I initially had the right answer and switched to the wrong answer during the test. Starting to feel more encouraged for test date. How's everyone else doing? What's everyone's strategy for the day before? Taking it off or light drills or taking a PT?

73 and 74 are tough PT's with a relatively "small" curve. I took 73 today experienced a drop in score as well.buckiguy_sucks wrote:PT 74:

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I would probably stick to a retake or a test known to be easy. I sort of had my confidence crushed today so will be spending the week drilling and doing a retake on Friday.buckiguy_sucks wrote: I took 73 in September. I'm not sure if it's worth it to retake it in the next couple days. Any thoughts?
Edit: I'd be taking a test anyway so I'm asking if it's worth it to take it over taking one I've never seen

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
It seems like all of you believe that the recent practice tests have gotten much harder. When you guys say "harder", how much more difficult do you find these tests? What exactly makes them more difficult?
Just asking because I will soon be making a PT schedule for the October exam and I want to make sure that I incorporate some of these tests earlier on in my schedule so I can review them thoroughly.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
How many PTs are you guys looking at still getting in before the test?
My current plan is:
Tues (tonight): Test
Weds: Test
Thurs: Test
Fri: Break
Sat: Test
Sun: Break
Mon: LSAT
Am I trying to squeeze too much work into this week? Not really feeling burnout as of yet. I feel like working full time has been a blessing in disguise, as it keeps me from being able to obsessively study too much.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I think some would argue it's too much, but I don't think so. I planned for a PT a day through Saturday with Sunday off. I find taking PTs to be more useful prep-wise than drills. Sunday I'll probably do a timed section or two.Joscellin wrote:How many PTs are you guys looking at still getting in before the test?

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Did 62 & 66 recently. Scored 173 on each -- which is the lower end of my range of the last ~6 weeks.
Had 2 wrong on LG in 62; 1 stupid wrong on LG in 66 (on one game, finished the game in ~3:50, but stupidly read over a key word ("other than X, we can determine the position of how many...") -- I didn't take the 'other than X' into acct. Annoying.)
On both tests, those LG mistakes cost me a 175, which is where I want to be scoring.

Depends on the person. If you're good with that much testing, then that's fine. I wouldn't believe anyone who speaks in absolutes (like the hypocrisy there?); studying is a very internal thing.Joscellin wrote:How many PTs are you guys looking at still getting in before the test?

I'd test that much if I could. And I was planning on it, but real world is preventing it. As of now I'm planning on a test Wednesday morning; Fri morning; Sun morning (for a Tuesday administered test).
Also, my last test taken was Saturday.
I consider this slightly less than I'd like, so I'd be in the same range as you if it were possible. I'll be doing a good chunk of drilling each day otherwise, though.
