I am going to go through my books, including the Trainer, completely and then go into drilling, looking back at my books as needed (which will probably be quite frequently, haha).

And I do not know the answer to your previous question, but I have emailed Morley form Cambridge using the email info@cambridgelsat.com before and he responded, so shoot him an email if you wish.

I'm not. I am waiting until I completely finish the trainer because it is not about breaking up questions into categories but rather developing a mindset. It is not like Manhattan LR in which chapter 1 is NA, 2 is SA, etc. I think that breaking it up like this would miss the point of the trainer. I mean c'mon, Mike has pretty much included 90% of LR question types by chapter 9.

Finish the trainer.
Take a new diagnostic.
Analyze weaknesses
Drill weakness and maybe go through the Manhattan LR guide alongside drilling particular question types.

I am going to do all that except after I take a new diagnostic I am going to read 1 chapter of Manhattan LR then drill it, then read chapter 2 of Manhattan LR then drill it, and repeat.

thanks for the help. i think that makes more sense.

i might be getting ahead of myself, but do you guys find yourself finding it hard to categorize flaws according to the types (and subsets) that Mike has laid out. I understand that this is something that Mike actually doesn't want us to do but I am starting to think this might be helpful in answering questions. I find myself using the "Taken for granted" method and most of the time I end up accurately finding the flaw but find myself spending a lot of time on the answer choices. It's hard for me to "match" the flaw to the answer choices or make the jump as to what might strengthen or weaken the support. Am I just being really dumb and need to spend more time early in the book, or work through it?

Drilled 58 SA today. Missed 13 overall, but my timing was pretty good.

Going to review all the ones I missed and those circled next using the blind review method.

Before I drilled I reread the trainer section on SA and also the MLSAT LR section on SA. It was helpful.

Welp, just realized I failed the blind review by checking my answers already. Going to erase them and then do the blind review tomorrow...

I am right there with you on the bolded, my friend. I am hoping that I/we will "put it all together"- meaning understanding the task in the question stem, identifying the flaw for those types of questions, going through the answers and picking the correct one- in the drilling stage when we drill problems like crazy.

For example, there are like 250 NA questions! Yay! Cav2015, you haven't drilled yet, right? I haven't drilled yet (or even finished one of my books) yet, so I am not overly concerned at my/our situation at this point.

haha no i am no where near close to drilling. I have the Trainer and LG from blueprint and the LG bible. Hopefully i get through all these books by mid feb. and then spend mid feb to may drilling like crazy. if i can drill 2-3 times and end up taking 70 freaking PTs..i cannot see how the LSAT can be THAT hard. Good luck my friend!

If you are still missing a significant portion of questions I really wouldn't be worried about doing them timed yet.

I drilled 50 Flaws yesterday and missed -5 on them. And did 6 advance Linear and missed one on each one. My timing was under 10 mins for all of them. I was struggling on the LG for no apparent reason. I am reviewing this morning and going to drill some more.

I am up to the chapter in which Mike talks about open conditional grouping games (as Manhattan would call them). However, I really don't like simply writing out the conditionals and contrapositives because while it is definitely a fairly fast method I cannot get accurate enough doing that. On the other hand, Manhattan's "logic chain" method that I studied earlier is slow but slightly more accurate. Still though, sometimes the "logic chain" method falls short. For example, there are times when the rule will say something like, "If M is chosen then P orQ will not be chosen." There is no real way to diagram that on the logic chain. I am going to try and crack these games today and try to figure out how to recognize when to use certain methods and how to speed both of them up while retaining accuracy.

Do you guys have any tips?

btw, where are all the women in this thread? I feel (though I could be wrong) it is just us guys.

I've felt the same way as you guys, Cav and Louis. I just finished the first part of the LR in the Trainer (Chapter 9?) and while I feel fairly confident identifying argument flaws and answering them accordingly, the matching drills that Mike includes have taken the most time for me. It really made it easier to write out flaws under each question and then compare the similarity.

As you guys were discussing, I plan on finishing the Trainer before doing any intense drilling. Like Mike emphasizes repeatedly, I think it's imperative to have really well-rounded strategies and habits before you go incessantly attacking various question types. Once I'm there, I want to focus on my weaknesses and drill them into the ground.

Anyway, what's everyone's NYE plans tonight? I bartend at a campus bar at school so I'm hoping to make a little cash tonight (and maybe get a phone number or two :D ).

Got my LSAT Trainer in the mail today! Can't wait to start working on it. It looks so pretty. :P

Ordered it on Amazon and it was shipped from 45 minutes away. What a waste of USPS.

Question for those of you who have been working at this quite a while: When you first started going through logic games, how long did it take you to do each one? I got an old copy of the LGB and started going through that. It suggested 8 minutes 45 seconds per game, but on my first tries I was spending a good bit longer than that (which, I expect that I'll get a lot faster after working at it). Right now it just seems impossible, though.

I've done games where it's taken me as long as 30 minutes to figure it out. Now I can do some of those same games in less than 5.

A poem by louierodriguez

I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
What kind of lawyer will I be?
Take the LSAT and you shall see.

I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
What kind of lawyer will I be?
Take the LSAT and you shall see.

I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
I'm going to be a lawyer.
What kind of lawyer will I be?
Take the LSAT and you shall see.

Starting Lesson 20 in the Trainer soon.
Also picked up a book on the History of the Supreme Court for a bit of light reading.

Hi guys happy new year everyone. Took a break yesterday.

For today I drilled another 50 Flaw questions and missed -6 in them, I will be reviewing it before I go to bed tonight.

LG did 7 advance linear

PT 7 G4 (4:48mins) -0
PT 8 G3 (8:38mins) -1
PT 14 G2 (7:08 mins) -0
PT 16 G2 (9:52mins) -1
PT 17 G4 (7:43 mins) -1
PT 19 G2 (6:34mins) -1
PT 20 G4 (5:20 mins) -0

I will add RC to it tomorrow. How's everyone's drilling/PTing going so far.

Figured I'd check in here since I just signed up for the June 14 LSAT! Woot. Ordered the PS trilogy and hopefully it will be at my house by the time I get back to DC.

Is anyone else working full time (40+) and going to school while prepping for the LSAT?

After getting completely and utterly demolished on LR in Dec 2013, I'm ready to sit down for 5+ months and conquer the beast once and for all. I'm planning on going back and restarting the trainer (I only got about halfway through it) and finishing the rest of it, drilling LR by type, going through the Manhattan trio, reading the economist as an RC supplement and personal enrichment, and doing more efficient and better structured post PT Blind Review. Best of luck to everyone ITT! What are your plans of attack and progress thus far?
