Damn you...sir. I'm stuck at 7th. Nothing you can do with that. I've had several top-3 picks before and I've drafted from 12 (my favorite). But 7 is just blah.SweetTort wrote:Got the 4th draft pick

Real Q-- what're your thoughts on NyQuil the night before? I'm worried I won't get a lick of sleep, no matter how much I adjust my sleep cycle leading up to the test. I already take melatonin nightly.

If you don't normally do it, don't start the night before the LSAT. Never do anything dumb, dangerous, or different before a big day. Keep things standard.SweetTort wrote:Real Q-- what're your thoughts on NyQuil the night before? I wouldn't do it. Never know how it's going to make you feel the next day. If you want to make yourself super sleepy, consider doing a good workout. Usually makes me hit the pillow no problem.

I mean, I have done it and taken a PT without deleterious effects. I'm considering taking it at 6, waking up by 3 or 4, and then being fully woken up and revved up for the test.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Ok so I just did 2 RC passages that were somewhat challenging and I did them untimed.
1st: 6/7
2nd: 7/8
I made every effort to understand each viewpoint as best as I could and summarized each paragraph in my head. Now I'm convinced that it's timing that is my issue and not the actually understanding and info retention of the actual passages. Any advice for timing?

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Try not to rush yourself. Settle into a leisurely pace that you would use to read a magazine article. That helped me tremendously and, ironically, made me much faster.TheMikey wrote:Ok so I just did 2 RC passages that were somewhat challenging and I did them untimed.

For sure! How long do you usually take with reading the passages? As well as how long do you spend on questions? If you know your individual times for them.ponderingmeerkat wrote:Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Try not to rush yourself. One of my favorite quotes, v applicable to the LSAT.
"Go slow to go fast."

Dude, I am petrified. Even tho my PT average is a 177, I am convinced I have a 50/50 shot of going sub-170.
May not help that I have diagnosed anxiety. haha

What do you guys think about using beta blockers? I had a doctor prescribe them but I'm worried it'll affect me mentally. Heard it also can make you groggy.
Also, I'll be taking an undisclosed test (Monday), really worried that it'll be much different than the PTs I've been taking lately. Like they'll throw me some curveball game cuz they don't have to release the test. Valid concern?

I mean, if it's something you've taken frequently enough that you know how it affects you and you're comfortable with that, I don't see why not.SweetTort wrote:ponderingmeerkat wrote:If you don't normally do it, don't start the night before the LSAT. Personally speaking - I've had serious grogginess (verging on stoned) and have slept for 13+ hours, through classes/tests, when I'm on sleep aids (not NyQuil but same active ingredient), which is why I won't be taking any. Obviously everyone reacts differently and my experiences aren't applicable to anyone but myself, but definitely be careful.

Repeating what others have said, I think just don't drastically switch up your normal routine on test-day. Starting to take beta blockers on Sept 23/24 is probably not a wise idea. (However, I wouldn't say there's taking beta blockers in general would or wouldn't affect your performance, cause grogginess, etc. That's all highly individual.)StopLawying wrote:What do you guys think about using beta blockers? If it's LSAC and not a fake test, I highly doubt it would be drastically different. Regardless, it should be a very good learning experience.

undisclosed tests are not any different from regular tests. they're like emergency tests LSAC has on reserve.Alexandros wrote:Repeating what others have said, I think just don't drastically switch up your normal routine on test-day. I'm gonna agree with everyone and say probably not a good idea. I'm planning on taking melatonin but if you take it every day it might not be as effective for you. I already know I won't be able to sleep...Im just kind of hoping test day adrenaline holds me through a little bit.SweetTort wrote:Real Q-- what're your thoughts on NyQuil the night before?
