Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
The vast majority of people who score in the 99th percentile (likely more than 90%) miss at least a couple of LR questions. That means you're claiming to be better at LR than 99.9% of test takers. Sorry, but you don't strike me as that one-in-a-thousand guy.
And now it comes out that you've only taken three PTs this year? But you were still planning on taking the June test until a week or so ago? Your story just doesn't add up.

I took 25 tests in January and the first week of February, and missed a total of 47 points in LR, 12 in LG, and 31 in RC.

And you must be new here, because I vacillated between October and June for a long time and made the decision to postpone over a month ago, precisely because I had been lazy that semester and didn't study nearly as much as I wanted to.
This attack is so bizarre, and I'm kinda hoping you're a Jackal or Shak alt and not just some bitter rando.

RZ hasn't taken it for real yet and as far as I know, his weakest section is LG.whacka wrote:Hey RZ - I believe you about your LR score, don't know why this guy wouldn't (why would you lie about your scores to people you've never met/will never meet...?) but I'm curious about your rationale for retake. If you've got -1 total for both LR sections, and I'm assuming -(0-2) on LG because it seems like most people in this thread have learned it to that point, then you're sitting on a 175 unless you do pretty poorly on RC. I'm sure you have your reasons, just curious as to what they are.

Yup, I'm also feeling better psychologically this time around. I just want the studying to be over haha. Hope we don't meet again in the October thread!AtticusRising wrote:Yeah, I postponed in Feb and I remember you from the thread as well. I'm glad I did. I feel like I'm in a better psychological state now where the possibility of me not scoring 173+ isn't making me get cold feet. I'll work hard on eliminating my weaknesses and not worry about having to retake until I have to. I hope you're feeling better this time around too!JackelJ wrote:I remember you from a while ago, did you postpone from Feb like me? I'm also in about the same place with my PTs and am hoping it all comes together in the next 2 weeks and I'm not back in October.AtticusRising wrote:I'm one of the ones HOPING i don't have to revert to the October thread. So I'm registered and ready to do some damage (preferably not to my ego) at South Texas College of Law in Houston.
Latest PTs have been in the upper 160s with an outlier of 173. Going to start doing two timed sections back to back to beef up my endurance in these last few weeks. Aiming to make that outlier the new average (insert determined face emoji).

^there is something douchey about this. take more PTs, prly too small a sample.Lol I can't believe someone made an account just to complain about me. I feel so special.
I just looked it up and on the 3 PTs I've taken this year I missed 4 LR questions, so that's an average of -0.67 per section... sorry I exaggerated a little![]()

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Like Nlee said, I'm a first time taker, I've just been thinking about the LSAT / on/off studying / posting here for a long time. My LR and RC were good to start with but LG brings my score down a lot. I think it's a fairly common story: humanities major is great at reading and reasoning but really sucks at the unfamiliar mathy aspects of LG.whacka wrote:Hey RZ - I believe you about your LR score, don't know why this guy wouldn't (why would you lie about your scores to people you've never met/will never meet...?) but I'm curious about your rationale for retake. Basically I'm postponing to October because I still haven't mastered LG and I want to get 175+ on my first try instead of the 168-172 that a bombed LG section would get me.
One thing worth noting is that since I've mostly done older tests it's still possible that RC will screw me over. I'm hoping that practice will compensate for the increased difficulty of the newer RC sections and I'll be able to maintain my -1/-2 scores there, but you never know.

I believe him too, you don't have to go too far to find a lot of you guys hitting -2,-1,0 on preptests in LR. I happen to think that just TlS itself makes it more likely that you will reach those types of scores with the vast amount of advice that is readily available up here. Certainly, they are many people who don't reach that level on LR, but I would venture to say that if you're a member of a site like TLS it makes it more likely that you're doing the things you need to in order to take your score seriously, and as a consequence reach this type of scoring range in LR. It's those who blindly just have a "carefree" attitude about the test (most of whom are prob. outside this community) who I would find hard to believe have reached that level.

So go ahead and rock on with your tales of PT glory. Some people here are gullible enough to believe it. But unless you get an elite score on the real thing (and that won't happen any time soon, if at all), you're just on the outside looking in and no different from the rest of us.
What bothers me most is you using your self-proclaimed LSAT expertise as a soapbox for giving advice you're not qualified to give. Do us all a favor and leave that job to posters like Clearly and Jeffort who actually help people and know what they're talking about.

And what is the basis for this advice? The three PTs you've taken so far this year? It seems a bit early for you to be worrying about "conserving" RC sections.RZ5646 wrote:Not to rain on your parade, but RC is probably the worst section for retaking. I decided right away to conserve RC sections because retaking them would be almost worthless.JackelJ wrote:Guys, I just went -0 on a RC section! Granted, I didn't use a bubble sheet and it was a retake, but maybe this means I'm not competely hopeless with RC.
Also, what JackelJ (who unlike you has DONE a lot of work) is saying makes perfect sense. No would remember much of anything about a passage they read nine months ago.

Officially pushed my registration to October. I started off my studies for June quite well but have really struggled to find/make the time to study lately. Feels pretty good knowing that I can relax for a week or two and get back into a more consistent routine. Best of luck to all of you taking it in June.

I just took 74 yesterday. Seemed pretty standard.whacka wrote:So I decided not to buy PTs 73 and 74 even though they're the only ones I don't have left... I figured if I end p having to retake, they'll be more helpful to me in October than now when I've got a lot of recent PTs that I've never seen. For anyone who's taken them: is there anything I should know about? Or do they seem in line with what you saw in 70-72?
Oh also I figured I'd just edit this post instead of making a new one: I'm trying to drill some of the lesser seen game types in case they bring back old ones like they did with 72: so far on my list I have mapping, circular, and pattern. Am I missing anything?

Btw, I wanted to ask earlier as you were talking about making changes to your RC approach ... what sort of things did you change? And is it still going well?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
