Dayton Ohio is actually a pretty nice middle class area. It's family friendly in terms of being a good safe area to raise a kids, has good schools, low crime, etc.Rigo wrote:The only Ohio city I've ever heard good things about is Columbus.TheWalkingDebt wrote:Somehow Akron is worse.Rigo wrote:JFC Cleveland is bleak.
It's where my older brother and his wife settled down and are raising their kids.
Here's a house a few miles away from their current one that they're considering upgrading to since their kids are outgrowing the current house with their eldest son now in high school and the younger kids now old enough that they shouldn't have to share a bedroom.

Cedar Point is awesome. I strongly dislike everything else Ohio.Clyde Frog wrote:Sandusky is niceTheProdigal wrote:There are good things to be said about many Ohio cities.Rigo wrote:The only Ohio city I've ever heard good things about is Columbus.TheWalkingDebt wrote:Somehow Akron is worse.

Cedar Point is the best. I entered Cedar Point afraid of roller coasters, and by the time I left I had ridden every coaster at least twice.

Last time I went (when I still lived in Detroit) it was for my 8th grade end of the year school trip. It was basically setting 150 or so 8th graders free practically unsupervised inside the park. Lots of fun. Meanstreak, the Gemini, the Raptor, the Mantis and of course the Magnum. Those rides were awesome.RZ5646 wrote:Cedar Point is the best. Indiana comes in 2nd on my list of worst states (South Carolina rounds out the top 3). Have fun looking at beans and corn, and I hear Gary is a fun place to visit.Rigo wrote:Fret not, guys. I'm in AMAZING Indiana now.

Took PT 63 today, hoping I see a bounce back into the 170s after a disappointing, albeit not unexpected, drop out of that range. Pre-BR I feel like I did pretty well on LR1 and LG. Feel dicey on RC and LR2. I think I felt a bit disjointed after question 13 or 14 on LR2 and started to worry about time on RC. We'll see though.

Akron is where AA was founded. Once you go to Akron it really makes sense.

Are you taking 80/90? If so you are hitting a string of shitty cities. Cleveland, Toledo, South Bend, and Gary. If you would have made a detour to Detroit you would have gone through the Great Lakes region's greatest hits of dumps.Rigo wrote:Holy shit Gary smells.

lol, makes sense. So much for believing my brothers glowing descriptions about how great Dayton area is, he lives in the burbs and has never mentioned anything about there being bad areas in the city.buckiguy_sucks wrote:
lol no. The burbs of Dayton are middle class. The burbs of any Ohio city are nice.
Akron, Canton, and Youngstown are the worst though in my humble Ohioan opinion.
Columbus is great

I did property preservation work years ago in Dayton and thought it was an overall pretty nice place to live. Cleveland, on the other hand, is a disaster. The homes there were annihilated inside and were literally falling apart. There's not much to love about Cleveland.Jeffort wrote:lol, makes sense. Yeah I'm the same way with Akron since I grew up there. I was also doing work in Cleveland around 2007-2008 during the housing bubble burst so I'm sure it has steadily improved since then.buckiguy_sucks wrote:Clyde Frog wrote:I did property preservation work years ago in Dayton and thought it was an overall pretty nice place to live. I think I have a bit of a grass is greener mentality b/c I grew up in a Dayton burb and know the city a lot better than Cleveland, but I would say Cleveland is on a faster upswing than Dayton

Finally done for the night. Staying in Janesville, Wisconsin aka Paul Ryan's home town.
On another note, the Taco Bell cashier is super perky. Like insanely friendly.

Taco Bell is the best. Buzz off.
I ordered $10 worth and am sitting in my underwear in my grubby Motel 6 chewing down.
I feel very Midwestern.
