Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I don't think my story's that unusual. I'm a 39-year-old carpenter with a blown out hammerin' elbow and a back that don't feel so good either. I went to a state school on scholarship around the time most of the people in this thread were born and barely graduated with an English degree around the time they were learning the multiplication tables. There were factors at play in this that would have to be disclosed in an addendum. You can probably guess what they are. I've matured considerably since then and now I'm a dependable, hard-working guy who's good at tests. I need to change careers in the next few years before my body breaks down any more. Law school itself seems pretty appealing, but I'm not so sure that I'd enjoy the actual lawyering, and I'm also not so sure that my employment options would be that great.
I scored 175 in February. To me that's not quite "near 180" and it's also far enough below my preptest scores that it doesn't accurately reflect my best effort. Prior to the February test I had taken 51 preptests with a median score of 178 and a mean of 176.7. My most common score was 180, which I achieved 14 times, or 27% of my preptests. Even though I don't think that I'll be applying to law school I think I will retake at some point in the future just to shoot for an official 180 for bragging rights. However, I just let the registration date pass without signing up for the June test, partly because I was disgruntled about the available test centers in my area and partly because I'm just not feeling very motivated to do a bunch of studying for the LSAT right now. Recently I've been studying for the GMAT and have scored 770 in a practice test, and I just kind of started studying for the GRE because the scale is so compacted at the top end that I think I can get a perfect and it would really fill a hole in my test score collection. But first, I have to go down to my local community college this week and test out of algebra so they will let me take an accounting class.

I certainly am not awesome. What I am is a cautionary tale. Kids, get a STEM degree and stay away from drugs and alcohol or this could happen to you!

STEM degrees are good, but a double with a humanities major is the best education. Not easy, I know.Shemp wrote:I certainly am not awesome. What I am is a cautionary tale. Kids, get a STEM degree and stay away from drugs and alcohol or this could happen to you!

Go to LS with a full ride. 180 should do it, and seems you can do a 180.Shemp wrote:I certainly am not awesome. What I am is a cautionary tale. Kids, get a STEM degree and stay away from drugs and alcohol or this could happen to you!

Shemp dude you're doing this all backwards. You're supposed to strive for HYS, ruin your life with debt, slowly claw your way back to a positive net worth in biglaw, quit law, and then live the hippie life doing a satisfying manual labor job.

few carpenters imo are academic enough to be able to score 175.Shemp wrote:I don't think my story's that unusual. yes, the june test occurs on monday at a time when classes are in session at schools. so lsac has much limited test centers available for june with many major metropolitan areas getting no centers.

I bet Testmasters doesn't offer a free tutoring session with the purchase of 80 linear feet of crown moulding.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I thought I got an LR score of a combined 39/50 earlier today. I spent the whole day with an expression similar to that of my avatar on
my face. I drove around aimlessly for 3 hours contemplating life.
Later that day 10 minutes into review I thought I had nearly lost my mind. I had spend 10 minutes trying to figure out how any of the other answers on Q#10 could have possibly been right. I then went and double checked the answer key. Turns out I had done a terrible job correcting my answers.
My actual score ended up being a 44/50 (88%) which means I am close to closing the gap between my timed PTs and timed drilling (90%++).
I'm basically at the point now where the only thing stopping me from being 167-168+ on every test is a consistent 20/22-23+ on LG.
