My brain sucks today. I don't know if it's because I'm at work and distracted, or just burned out, but LGs are making much less sense to me. Last time I took the LSAT, LG was a gimme section. I feel like it's taking me way longer to get comfortable with it this time, and it's making me kind of nervous.

Yeah, in my school's library, some areas are literally dead zones for wifi, it freaking sucks. But wait, you're transferring schools completely or you're just going to be living in a different school's dorms? If the latter, I had no idea you could do that. then again, i have no clue what benefits RA's have and if that even is oneSweetTort wrote:TheMikey wrote:I swear I hate my school's wifi, I'd be furious if I lived on campus
RA right here. Fucking blows.
Moving to a different school next semester for an exchange, so I'm really hoping the wifi is better.

That's the way to do it IMO. I had a friend that studied at university of Bologna rather than studying with some American institute abroad.SweetTort wrote:TheMikey wrote:Yeah, in my school's library, some areas are literally dead zones for wifi, it freaking sucks. I'm basically doing this program where I transfer for a semester, but graduate from my host school. Like, studying abroad, but abroad being a different university.
As for that whole stim/stem first, I'm a stem first kind of guy. It really helps me focus, especially as I've become more and more critical as I practice. I find I get to caught in the weeds if I don't have an idea of what I'm looking for.
On break from PT. Was crushing it but had a really hard LR section, but I have a feeling it was prob the exp given it had a question redacted. All that said, some obnoxious pricks had like five people shushing them and they wouldn't be quiet. Worse off- one is the circulation member. Beyond irritating.

No, sorry, I misexplained.
Like, for example, if I went to the University of Kentucky, I would transfer and do a semester at UC Santa Cruz, but still graduate from UK. So, it's like transferring without actually transferring.

It seems that the more PTs I take, the worse I get! Last 3: 164, 162, 161.
I'm studying everyday (though I don't think it's really intense...), and it's just extremely frustrating. Any advice on what to do?
Also, any advice on how to be able to finish the LG section in time? What helped you get to that point?
TIA!!

Seem to have a low-grade fever (wtf immune system
) - I guess that explains why I was so fatigued yesterday. Gonna take it easy, drill, and go through harder questions. I'm not gonna bother taking a full PT until this is mostly out of my system, because I'm pretty sure I'd just underperform and get more sick.

Prep test 70 section 1 LR killed me for some reason...went -3 in the first 15 questions which is absurd.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I've been thinking about this. I don't know that I won't get target, and obviously hope I do, but common sense would indicate that there's a good chance I'll have to retake. But the semester + extracurriculars tends to take a lot of my energy, especially towards the end, so I'm not sure if December is realistic. I guess I'll cross that bridge if and when I come to it.SweetTort wrote:greatspirit wrote:Pozzo wrote:There's no reason not to retake multiple times if you have the time. If you have a huge jump in your score, you may want to consider an addendum to explain, but there's no other disadvantage that I can see. It'd be much better to wait out a cycle for a better score than apply this year with a low score. We're talking 1 year of your life vs. the impacts made over the course of your life by attending a better school or with less debt.greatspirit wrote:Seeing people opting to postpone to December/delay their applications by another year in response to not feeling prepared enough for September is making me doubt my current strategy:
1) I'm taking it in September ---> 2) Will continue to study for the LSAT up until I receive my September score, and will (95% sure) sign up for December ---> 3) If my December score is not up to snuff, I will take the LSAT a third time in June 2017 and thus delay my applications by one year.
If I get to the point of a June 2017 3rd attempt, whatever score I get from that exam I will just have to deal with.
Is there something disjointed in my thinking? From what I've seen amongst most of the study group I was briefly part of, and some TLSers, there really seems to be an opposition to multiple retakes.
That's what I've been thinking. Like, LSAT "averages" aren't really a thing. There is no harm in retaking multiple times.
The only thing I'd add to this is that it might be smart to take a break after the September test. Burnout is a real thing. Also, don't take it until you're ready. No harm in retaking, but no benefit in taking when you know you won't get the score you want.

I won't be applying this cycle or next, so I guess it's not a big deal. If I have to do this over again during my gap year to get the score I want, so be it.

Regarding the photo, there's significant white space on the bottom edge of the photo... Is that acceptable?

You should be okay as long as its uploaded on LSAC and as long as it still looks like you. You should be able to crop out the white portion on LSAC just in case

I think it appears that way because the photo I uploaded is not a perfect square but is too short on the bottom...

Tested out my mastermind watch for the first time. Works well. PT60 was a bit more forgiving for me than 59, but still not happy with the 166 I got. RC was a good bit improved. It was -5, but three of those were from the four blind guesses I took at the end. When I took the time to review the questions I didn't have time for, I got them right so that is solid. Gotta work on my speed and keep in mind my approach to apply it to other RC sections. Also majorly messed up on AR because one, I got hung up on the last question of game 3 which killed my otherwise good time and two, I missed a key inference in the last game.
Mainly bothered about the LR though because I go through thinking I'm doing well and I missed six total. Would rather it be more blatant hang ups that can be easily corrected.

Just did the same prep test. Had some really loud distractions but I was not a huge fan of the LR/RC. BRing now. Just finished LG. I'm assuming -1 test -0 BR.Instrumental wrote:Tested out my mastermind watch for the first time. Works well. PT60 was a bit more forgiving for me than 59, but still not happy with the 166 I got. I actually *really* enjoyed that games section. Game 3 was kind of really unique so I can see how that tripped people up. Game 4 I was the same, but I kind of caught the main inference on Q20 - I think I need to make a rule of double checking non-list questions when something clicks because I missed 19. I think the main important inference deals with grouping in that game. I actually had two separate diagrams.

As someone with no work experience, does it make sense to apply to NU?

I don't see the harm in applying everywhere. The reality is that the cost of application is far less than the potential benefit if you are admitted... even if you don't attend.SweetTort wrote:As someone with no work experience, does it make sense to apply to NU?
You may receive a scholarship that you can use as leverage against other schools. I understand everyone's financial situation is different, but I think one should make every effort to apply to every school in their score range even if it's one they wouldn't really want to attend.
Well, not everyone as it would diminish the benefit, but I think it's good advise for fellow people in this thread.
