I'm happy but at the same time just concerned that these drill are too basic to prepare for the real one. Will the drill package get harder for other sections?
The Cambridge packets use games from real previously administered LSATs. The games are very similar to the ones you will see on your LSAT because the test hasn't changed much. The LSAT uses the same types of games over and over and basic ordering games show up very commonly. The Cambridge packets also give you every logic game from PT1-38. So if you do all of those drills you along with PTing you will definitely be prepared for pretty much any type of game you will see.

Yes, other types do get harder.

Usually -5 on a good day and -7 on a normal day

I think they should just replace LG with another RC section.

God no. RC is already weighted more than LG because if has more questions. If anything, they should weight LG more by adding questions and subtracting RC questions.
Everyone has different strengths though so I understand the sentiment.

I haven't started prepping for the June test. I've got a 4 month schedule laid out and for once in my life don't have either work or school to worry about. Am I being paranoid that I haven't started yet based on this thread?

No. You have plenty of time. Just be diligent.

"This game is very easy, aim for under 5 minutes." Took me 23 minutes but thanks for the encouragement JY.
Let's get to the bottom of this.
Did you have the most trouble with the R-->NR conditional?
Did you not realize that ordering of the other variables and T can only be 1 or 2?

Did you not understand all the inferences up front? That's the main reason it's such an easy game because you can place a ton of things up front so the questions shouldn't talk much time at all.

Are you not doing the little drills in whatever prep book you have?
23 minutes is pretty deer in the headlights (don't worry, you'll get there)
I'm just trying to figure out what you're not getting.

I'm guessing you're just having trouble representing the rules in the initial game setup. LG truly is about doing work up front most of the time (with a few exceptions that you'll intuitively know about once you get super good)

gamerish wrote: In both games I think the main issue was my terrible attempt at diagramming the games. In the N R game I did everything in one line and used subscripts to represent N and R instead of using a double layer sequencing like JY suggests and in the first game... I don't even know how to describe what I did.
I only use subscripts when notating the rules; never on the game board. Adding another layer to represent the second or third variable set is so much more effective visually.

Once you know how to set up every game, a lot of stuff will start clicking. Hoping your LG course works out for you.

What can a course teach you that you can't teach yourself for free? It's hard to imagine 7sage has anything more valuable than their LG explanations, and they put those online for free (god bless you JY Ping).

Gamerish, IIRC you haven't been drilling that long. I still felt like I had no idea what I was doing until I had done like 50 drills. I still suck, but I'm certainly improving.

So a combo of this thread and my first LSAT-based nightmare last night led me to push my study schedule up to late Jan. and add on the MLSAT books on top of the PS books. Also ordered the newer prep tests.

I apologize if this is a really stupid question: Are you guys preparing for the writing portion? I've never seen anyone on this thread discuss it.

Hey all,

Applied this cycle before seeing my Dec score, but ended up scoring 15+ points below my PT average. SO, i'll probably be retaking and applying next cycle after I hear from the schools I sent in for this cycle.

I think I'll just try to drill games in the meantime rather than continuing to read the Bible. Having three very different methods for diagramming and attacking questions is really screwing with my head.

@RZ After using the Trainer, the LG Bible and the free 7sage videos it's clear to me that JYs method of diagramming and solving problems resonates with my way more than either of the other two. Not only do I like his method the best but I definitely like the idea of having someone actually tell me how to do this stuff rather than reading it for myself, even if it is just a video. So the course seems like the best way for me to go.
Yeah, pick one method that seems most intuitive to you and stick with it when you are still learning the basics of diagramming

No, don't waste your time. It doesn't count towards your score and most, if not all, schools don't look at it for an admission decision.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
