Haha yes, that's not crazy, right? Many people ITT (jaylawyer included) have been at it since June '13, if I understand correctly. Anyway, my diagnostic (not that it matters much) was a 156, flexible on time. No idea where I'm at right now, since I have not started PTing yet, but my drills have shown considerable improvement. I -0'd a few LR sections, and I'm around -4 level in RC. LG is a work in progress. Anyway, I'm glad we're all in this together. Looking forward to making big gains in the coming 170 days!

I am a veteran reader of TLS and making my first post.

I started studying two days ago for the June 2014 LSAT. However, the test is now my #1 priority and I'm fighting in the trenches four hours a day for a 180 from here until showtime. Let's get the mental troops prepared for combat. At this point, my mindset is HYS or bust.

guys when drilling reading comprehension, i find that theres usually 1-2 questions that take up a ton of my time and get through the other ones relatively quickly. these are typically the ones I get wrong as well - anyone else had this problem and know the aid? is the best I can do just review the passage afterward and make sure that I know why its right / wrong ?

Ladies and Gentleman,

I've been going through the 10 More Actual Preptest book or whatever its called (PT 19-28)

and I've been doing everything untimed.

I think there is something very valuable to be learned going through the test in this way.

You'll obviously learn this when you really start doing TIMED test, but it's interesting to see early on how the format goes.

I know when to expect a parallel reasoning question. I know where a necessary assumption question will be. I know roughly which question will be one I will have to skip. That's something the Cambridge packet will not offer.

Don't get misled though. Cambridge packets are one of the top tools to succeed.

Good to have you here, sir. I'm active-duty Navy. Stationed over in Diego Garcia if you've heard of it. Glad to hear you have that HYS or bust mentality, but just know there are plenty of great schools out there.

Anyways, I know you'll succeed. That military mentality will stop at nothing until it reaches its goal.

PT 22 untimed

RC -9
LR -4
LG -2
LR -7

Comes out to a 163.

This should have been a 170+

There is absolutely no reason to get a LG question wrong and absolutely no reason to get a RC question wrong when you have all the time in the world to answer a question.

Just spent the last few hours reading through the October Waiting Thread.

I can't wait until game day! Though the wait after is going to blow.

I really hope we all do well. I really hope I can manage a 170+

Anybody have a special insight into how to review questions you missed.

My typical routine is as follows...

"oh shit, that makes a lot more sense."

and then I move on to the next one

I agree Louie R, but at the same time I think you must drill cambridge to death for them to have full effectiveness.

When dealing with flaws/SA/NA/other question types that include conditional statements, do you guys diagram them? Right now I diagram all of them because if I don't, I fall for the following fallacy:

X----->Y
Y
Therefore X

When LSAC throws a bunch of confusing terms out there and I try and track it all in my head, I make mistakes, such as falling for the previously stated fallacy. But when I write down the diagram of the conditional, I never get the sufficient and necessary confused.

Obviously this hinges on not confusing Al//Some/Most.

Do you think after intense drilling I'll be able to get the questions right without diagramming? (I am in the very beginning of my prep and haven't even drilled yet; going through books now). Or is diagramming all questions with conditionals totally fine forever?

Louis: I think eventually conditional logic can and should become second nature, and you will not have to write everything out. But if you're finding it tough to keep the valid inferences in your head right now, the diagramming should help solidify those instincts.

Happy Holidays! I'd recommend following one of the study schedules on the book's website. Just google the book's name and it should pop up. On the one I'm using PT 52 is used as a diagnostic and then again for some drilling. I think the author intended for you to see some of the material more than once.

You can always buy more tests if you'd like some fresh material for full PTs.

Good luck studying! Sending good vibes your way :P ~~~~~~~>

If true, then this answers my question.

Thanks.

when doing LR section I am stuck between 19-21 range getting that number correct. any one have advice to improve? I guess I'll just keep reviewing long answers, been stuck here for a while though.

Really nice feeling right now. I was reading a lesson in the Trainer, doing some drills, and taking notes on them during review. I look down at my clock and see I have been sitting in the library for 3 hours without having a break. I was thinking to myself that I am probably getting close towards my 1.5 hour break soon. I get lost in the studying mindset.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
