Thanks for the reassurance. I did think that patterns must be finite, but its good to know that it indeed is the case. What is this JY's fool proof method? The Abyss wrote:Absolutely they do. I am trying to understand how I should go about improving in grouping before I waste a ton of games. I know redoing is useful, but, not having seen these games for so long makes available the benefit of being able to approach them as fresh.
You can reuse games from PTs 1-38. It really is just about recognizing patterns of inferences.

This is really good to know! Thanks!TheWalkingDebt wrote:Yeah for sure. It's the same inferences over and over again. When people told me "eventually you'll stop seeing the content of the conditions and just see the variables and rules quickly" it sounded strange, but it's definitely true. Once you do the same thing over and over again, it's mainly about maintaining consistency and efficiency.biggestlawman wrote:So you think that the same patterns repeat themselves?TheWalkingDebt wrote:biggestlawman wrote:Is there a benefit in watching and reproducing the 7 sage method for a game? Me. I have not been studying nearly as much as I should because I'm taking two graduate courses and it's almost the end of the semester (and the end of the semester is a busy season at work). But I'm still trying to do games daily so I don't get rusty. If I dream about doing games with JY's voice telling me what to do, that is a good sign, right?TheWalkingDebt wrote:Taking PT 48 today at some point. P.S. I think PT1 India is a modified version of June '07.

What's the deal with the Indian tests? Like someone else said, that first one is just PT June 07, and the other ones only have 4 answer choices per question. Are these worth studying?

No. They are meant to be high-school (SAT) difficulty.RZ5646 wrote:What's the deal with the Indian tests? Like someone else said, that first one is just PT June 07, and the other ones only have 4 answer choices per question. Are these worth studying?

Fuck that then. Might be useful for people who are really desperate for materials, but it sounds like a waste if you already have all the real PTs.gatesome wrote:No. They are meant to be high-school (SAT) difficulty.RZ5646 wrote:What's the deal with the Indian tests? I don't feel great about PT 48, my mind felt foggy during the first section and I kept getting distracted the fourth section. I feel good about LG again. Going to BR now and I'll guess I see how it turns out before getting too discouraged.
How'd everyone's studying go today?

So I'm going to assume this thread is basically just my personal Road to 172. lol.
LR was, once again, my downfall. -5 between LG and RC and then -12 between the two LR's. For a score of 163. Talk about depressing.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
did you spend about 5:00 min always to read for all types of passages incl the new RC and how many did you miss? i don't suggest that no one does the initial read slow and scores perfect. it seems the post is not in conflict with your observation and says that there will be people who do so but was unsure how consistently they didn't run out of time. were there any instances with this time division when you had about 3 mins left for the last passage's 7-8 questions and you ran out of time?BP Ben wrote: My perspective on this: I don't think it's necessarily true. Different people have different reading styles. Some people might be able to go -0 with a crazy fast initial read (2-2:30), but for others it would be a total disaster. After a lot of experimentation, I realized that I scored much higher in RC if I spent a really long time (4-5:00) on the initial read, and rocketed through the questions (without truncating process of elimination, of course). I found that if I effectively memorized the passage, I would be able to solve the questions accurately and quickly without having to look back very much at all. That was the ideal pace for me. I've met a non-negligible number of high scorers who used a similar approach.
RC timing is a delicate dance. IMO, no methods for RC are truly one-size-fits-all. So my best advice would be to experiment with timing strategies and mindset, and find the right fit for your reading style. And obviously drill like a maniac.

Yeah, my mind was just really fuzzy for some reason yesterday. I'm taking PT 65 today and skipping drilling to see if I bounce back.
