BR'd this for a 178!theothercat wrote:Took PT 66 today:
RC: -7 (ummm no)
LR: -1
LG: -3
LR: -1
Score: 169
Honestly, this was not my favorite total result, but I've been focusing pretty much exclusively on LR for the last week, and this is a huge improvement in LR for me. So I'm actually pretty happy. Going to BR and hopefully get to -0 on RC and LG.
Anybody have any breakthrough thoughts on staying consistent on RC (other than drilling consistently, which I will definitely do)? I am all over the place.

I'm nervous already, but in a good(???) way.Mr. Meeseeks wrote:Less than one month to go! Overall my study effort for this test has been rather pathetic compared to June but my PT tonight matched my personal best so hopefully it won't bite me too much.
Last stretch fellow studiers! Let's crank it out
My plan is to take 2-3 PTs a week, do blind review in between, and then drill weaknesses and full sections of each LR/RC/LG to avoid losing sight of any one section. I think using the last month to try to gain as much familiarity with your actual testing process as possible, while also making pointed improvements, is a good use of time.JessiCAL wrote:How often will you guys be taking PTs now that we're in the final month? I'm not sure if I should be cranking out PTs or drilling weaknesses.
Do you find that your score increases more from drill work or doing a ton of timed PTs?
Don't worry! You'll be fine!TheMikey wrote:I'm nervous already, but in a good(???) way.Mr. Meeseeks wrote:Less than one month to go! Overall my study effort for this test has been rather pathetic compared to June but my PT tonight matched my personal best so hopefully it won't bite me too much.

21?! I'm taking like 7 or 8.Instrumental wrote:I'm taking 21 tests between then and now. Analyzing the faults I make in testing has allowed me to improve my score consistently though. Still struggling with RC though. :\
Yeah you've been crushing it though. Meanwhile, I've only been able to get above 170 twice and right now I seem to just be floating between 165-169. I also want to get through all the PTs also. I haven't quite made it to the 60s yet.proteinshake wrote:21?! I'm taking like 7 or 8.Instrumental wrote:I'm taking 21 tests between then and now. hm. during my last take I could NOT get past 169. I fixed my LG and my RC (to some degree) and managed to get where I am now. are you missing most of your questions in a certain section/s?Instrumental wrote:Yeah you've been crushing it though. Yeah RC is just what's killing me. I still make mistakes in the other sections, but it's not uncommon for the total missed from my other sections to equal what I miss in RC. I've managed to get -1 or -2 quite a few times, but no where near consistently. I really don't know how to identify what was going on in my head to attain those. Been reading advice all over here, but no luck. A lot of advice suggests that you double check the passage, but if I do that beyond the questions that explicitly point out lines of the passage, I almost inevitably end up going to slow. idk. :\proteinshake wrote:hm. during my last take I could NOT get past 169. that's pretty much my situation as well. idk if you've read the Trainer but I made a lot of RC improvement using that. if you have read it, you should check this year out: https://youtu.be/Q0nHBdkK0rwInstrumental wrote:Yeah RC is just what's killing me. I've actually never stepped foot in Panera bread. I know, i'm weird lol. I like studying at starbucks though. It's noisy but I feel like if I can focus well under a major amount of distractions and noises at a starbucks, I can keep focus during the real test if the girl next to me decides to violently/loudly write while doing what I assume was her LG section again. source: experienceproteinshake wrote:it might be too busy later, but Panera Bread in the morning seems like a decent place to study -- too loud for a PT but if you're doing something that doesn't require close to silence it seems fine.
The reason I can't do Starbucks is loud conversations. Peripheral noise doesn't really bother me, but someone having a conversation at full volume two feet from me does. I'm running under the assumption that I shouldn't have to worry about conversations during the test.TheMikey wrote:I've actually never stepped foot in Panera bread. I know, i'm weird lol. gosh that was so annoying in such a quiet room. i literally couldn't keep focus on top of being off focus already from simply being nervous. i bet she got a 170+ tho
That doesn't really bother me much tbh. It's weird that I have the mentality that at Starbucks I can have people around me talking, but at home if someone just so opens the door I lose my train of thought almost instantly.34iplaw wrote:The reason I can't do Starbucks is loud conversations. I kind of want to get to a point of finishing LG 5 mins early with -0... just close the book and stare people down, or, alternatively, take a 5 minute nap/breather.

Ditto. The one PT I did in the quiet of my own home was my best score by a solid 4 points. I'm hoping on that kind of bump test day. I wish I had this problem. *tears*Shemp wrote:First recent PT that I've taken this cycle and my worst score, -2 RC, -2 LR for a 177 on PT 75.
