So, at the risk of sounding unconscionably ignorant: What's this talk of an LSAT "curve" of -10, or whatever? I thought LSAC states that the LSAT scoring doesn't employ an orthodox curving procedure?

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
Yeah I wasn't penalized. I was afraid to erase because when I caught it I wasn't sure how many I had bubbled in at that point, so didn't want to erase the last question from the previous section and I couldn't flip to the previous section to see how many questions were in it as I was in the front row.AbbeyS wrote:Lmao that's actually kinda funny. They probably wouldn't have noticed cause it would've just looked like you were erasing your current section but oh well, you aren't penalized for extra answers I assumeTexasENG wrote:On the June test I filled in the first five answers of section 5 into spots in section 4 (like 24-28). Then I didn't want to erase them because I was afraid the proctors would think I was cheating and I didn't remember how many sections the previous section had so I just left themAbbeyS wrote:I started panicking when there was 5 min left cause I still had 3 answers to fill in on game 3 & when I looked at my scantron, I had 4 spaces. Apparently I filled two answers on one line & I was like fucccckkkkkk nooooo!!!!!! Please tell me all my answers for the rest of this section aren't off by one....turns out it was just that one though. PhewTexasENG wrote:Yes. Idk what happened, I must have missed an inference, got through the first 2 games in like 10 minutes and then ended up just drawing out half the scenarios in each question for 3 and 4 to eliminate wrong answers. I feel like I might have missed a question though..splitterfromhell wrote:Did anyone else just brute force their way through Logic Games three and four?. The "curve" is how many wrong you can get and still get a 170. Around here 170 is the magic number.NonTrad82 wrote:So, at the risk of sounding unconscionably ignorant: What's this talk of an LSAT "curve" of -10, or whatever? Ahh. Thanks, LitigatingLiar.
I had been reading about how LSAC "equates" their tests to derive a score. Still not so sure how much the performance of any particular LSAT's test-takers determines the score scale, and how much is determined by prior metrics. It seems really convoluted, but apparently is fair

Anybody else's LSAC account estimating score available via e-mail March 3rd!? This is more like 4 weeks, not 3! Arggh!!
Anyone know whether e-mailed scores typically come before/after/concurrent with score posted in LSAC account?!

Pretty sure the official day as predicted by LSAC has been March 3rd since registration opened. And your email should come the same day.NonTrad82 wrote:Anybody else's LSAC account estimating score available via e-mail March 3rd!? This is more like 4 weeks, not 3! Arggh!!

Its either concurrent or early. In June I received my email about 3 hours after we went gray. I'm not sure when I could see my score on LSAC (might have been concurrent) as I was fairly drunk...NonTrad82 wrote:Anybody else's LSAC account estimating score available via e-mail March 3rd!? Also fwiw I broke down the Feb score release dates a few pages ago, its likely to be the week of the 29th sometime, probably 1-3 days earlier than the official date.

Ok, I just found the part on LSAC site that says March 3rd for score release. BUT before that, I had been working from this:
Your LSAT Score Report
Getting Your Score Report (click to hide/show)
Score release dates are listed for each recent and upcoming test administration.
LSAT takers who have LSAC.org accounts will automatically receive their scores by email approximately three weeks after taking the test. This is the quickest way to obtain your LSAT score, and there is no additional charge. Please keep your email address current in your LSAC.org account to receive your score promptly.
For those without online accounts, LSAC will send score reports by mail approximately four weeks after each test.

I guess 26 days could be reasonably referred to as "approximately 3 weeks". But my anxiousness has reduced my tolerance for LSAC's selective use of indeterminate language, haha.

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
It's been March 3rd since I registered way back at the end of December. Typically they do come out a little early, however, in December they lost a group of tests and w got out tests one day before the scheduled release. Typically it is a few days earlier though.AbbeyS wrote:Pretty sure the official day as predicted by LSAC has been March 3rd since registration opened. Does the curve affect scores below 170? How much lower?
Thanks

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
It's not a true curve but in the sense that that term is used on here, yes, it will affect all scores as it's equated to fit a certain distribution. So even at the extreme other end of the scale you might have one test where 16 correct answers results in a 120, but on another test it would equate to a 122. The curve to 170 is just the most commonly used measuring stick.dontsaywhatyoumean wrote:Does the curve affect scores below 170? How much lower?

I wasn't being serious, absinthe just seemed apropos given the LR question on it. Got my votes in for Gin/Whiskey, although I'm not a big drinker to be honest.Li'l Sebastian wrote:That's "other"jb111 wrote:No option for absinthe?

LSAC left me in such suspense I actually read the wikipedia article on wormwood.jb111 wrote: I wasn't being serious, absinthe just seemed apropos given the LR question on it. Got my votes in for Gin/Whiskey, although I'm not a big drinker to be honest.
