Took PT 61 today...and finally proved a 180 is do-able.

The RC was #12 - I even knew when I was doing it that I would miss it. I had absolutely no clue. Almost blew the Games section, misread a rule and had to redo the entire last game - it's practice things like that which make me more confident for the real test.


Some tips if you're doing any more PTing his week: Drink a ton of water in the hour or two leading up to at least one, just so you're used to having to go to the bathroom during a section or two. I know nobody plans on having to during the real deal, but you should no how to deal if that ends up being the case.

Also, make sure you practice setting watches quickly, not a lot of time to do so between sections.

You too! If my past experience with standardized testing bears out, a 180 is just a matter of luck. Getting to that 177+ area, where a question or two your way makes things a 180, is all that matters. If the test goes your way, great, if not...a 177 is pretty damn nice.

Or at least that's how I'm approaching it. Obviously 180 is the goal, but being a little more realistic about it really takes some pressure off.

I'm going to do a dry-run tomorrow morning. Getting up at the right time, even driving over to campus where I'll be taking the test. Any suggestions for which PT to use? I have 60, 62, 63, 64, 65, and 66 left.

Retook my October LSAT this morning, didn't exactly go as planned. Got there bright and early and the building was open but all the classroom doors were locked. Asked a janitor if he could let me in a room but he said he couldn't, so I walked my ass back home and took it there.First two sections went great. I originally bombed RC (stupid !Kung) but I knew I did much better this time. However, I completely messed up the first logic game and I knew it. Just stared at the thing but couldn't figure it out. I should have just moved on sooner but I wasted 6 minutes getting no answers, and it wasn't even a very difficult game. Still improved on my original score of a 162 to a 166, but that should be at least a 168 if I didn't bomb LG somehow.

Oh well, at least this time when I knew I bombed a section I didn't let it affect me in the next section. And anyway, I would still be happy with a 166 come test day. Wouldn't be my best performance, but at least close to my average.

I know i am burnt,but these recent tests kick my ass,i have been getting 175-178 and then i started performing this bad on the last tests,i am gonna do two more recent tests one monday one wednesday ,if i screw them then i have no choice but to withdraw my test w tears in my eyes.

I do. At first it seemed a bit weird to me but once I got the process down it made those game types really easy for me, and I spend a lot less time on them than I used to. Finished one game in like 3 minutes.

You can do it! Just remember - minimal markings on RC: just enough to find things you think there will be questions about. And then use your time on each question you're unsure of to FIND EVIDENCE IN THE PASSAGE. That is easily the single biggest jump I've made on the test: from averaging at least -5 on RC to averaging -2.

obviously, the repetitive material seems to help. really think i'm starting to get into a grove on RC. i am starting to get the feel as to where the questions will come from as I read, and am placing more of an emphaisis on where material is located, then understanding it 100% perfectly as I read. thus i'd say the Manhattan RC strategy is much better than PowerScores, imo.

the 2 I missed, one was a formal logic question. bummed, ive really been knocking these out cold after going through the PS chapter. the other, well, it fooled me.

I definitely tend to agree. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. Can't put a price tag on a conditional diagram that connects all the constraints for you. Just gotta make sure it's not messy.

What did you think of Zones when you took that test for real? I kind of see what people mean when they say coming across an unusual game like that unexpectedly in the middle of the real thing can be flustering.

I honestly didn't think zones was that bad. I got one question wrong on zones because I ran out of time, but I only had like 8:00 left going into the game. It was certainly an odd game back-ended game and the toughest part of it was understanding what the hell the rules even meant. Once I write them all down though most of the questions weren't that hard. The final question I think is pretty difficult though.

Provided you're on the cusp of breaking through, a final push could definitely get you there. I plan on officially making games a -0 section this week, mastering parallel/parallel flaw, and shoring up my weaken skills.

Ok,i am still not giving up,i am sort of happy that i missed only the ones i didnt drill,this one was a new test,so it was sort of accurate indication i am gonna keep working hard on my weak points to see if i can rock this.

I've been scoring in the 170-173 range, with LR and RC being the main problems.

I'm really trying to push myself to the other side of the 175 (or even land 175, really). I am running out of time in the end and haven't been able to recheck answers in LR and RC. Any advice?

Anyone else find the last game on PT 58 quite challenging? It's the binary conditional game on course selection. I had 12 minutes for it, but I still missed two. I think I might have shaved that to one if I had drawn a neater logic chain, which is something I would have been much better able to do with the amount of space we get on LG now. It's really kind of outrageous that they only started doing that in June '12. Anyway, I shouldn't make excuses, but this game was really tough I thought. Was starting to consider binary conditionals an automatic -0..not so much anymore.
