I'm kind of in the same boat as you. My only fresh tests left are 2-6, 8, 17, SPC. For some reason I'm rocking the earlier tests (only 180s on were recently on SPB and PT1) so I'm a little worried about not getting any fresh new tests. I'm using the new material for review (like working on solidifying reading comp strategies) and making games out of them (how fast can I identify all question stems, how fast can I identify all flaw types, etc).boblawlob wrote:Has anyone taken a test that they HAVEN'T done?
I've gotten 2 170s but I took those tests like twice so doesn't really count for me...

Re: October 2012 Retakers
For June I used mostly PTs 35-49 along with some of the more recent ones so I have had to skip around this time but most of the PTs I am taking are fresh, however, I have noticed that my scores are significantly higher on lower PTs. Today I took PT 30 and got my highest yet, a 176 (94 raw). I was elated but yesterday I took PT 54 and got a 165 (84 raw). The 165 is below my PT avg. so I will admit that I reviewed every question meticulously and think that there was some honest improvement between the two but has anyone else had a higher avg. on earlier PTs?
My avg. on PTs 30,31,32,40,42 is a 172, while my avg. on PTs 46,48,50,51,54,56 is a 168. Is this a common trend? I also ask because I have taken them in such a random order that it makes my scoring look inconsistent too, hence the 165 yesterday and the 176 today.
I am taking only more recent PTs (55-65) the rest of the way so I guess I shouldn't worry about it but was curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

yes, same trend. my average for the 30s+40s has always been higher than the one for the 50s/60sGATA1989 wrote:For June I used mostly PTs 35-49 along with some of the more recent ones so I have had to skip around this time but most of the PTs I am taking are fresh, however, I have noticed that my scores are significantly higher on lower PTs. Re: October 2012 Retakers
Took my last LSAT Oct 2011, disappointing 167. (Was PTing 169-172s) Felt burned out by the time I took the test, won't let that happen again.
Took a long break, took about 2-3 tests since not in real conditions, but only having each section timed.
Just recently took PT60, -1 LR/-1LR/-2RC in 33/34/38 minutes respectively.
Still have the LG section left to do.
Need to work on getting my time back down to 33-34 in about 25 days. Have PTs 61-65 left to work with. Plan to do the rest of the tests consecutively instead of a few sections here and there.
Might randomly work on previous sections from tests I've prepped before when I can't handle a 4 hour marathon at the time.
Time to get to work

Last time at this point I was just praying for one more month or another week to study. This time I am sorta ready for it to get here already.
By the end of this I will have studied off and on for 10 months. I just want it to be over! No more LSAT!
I want free time again!
In other news, I finished PT 46 and 53

Ahhh much love for my friends from way back when. Gisney you need to crush this. Did you actually take it in June? Think about how far we've come man haha--did we meet on the December or the October thread last year??? To all retakerers--you guys are gonna kill it. Getting this test off your chest is gonna feel great. And then you have to apply, haha. The anxiety never ends... hahaha

I did take the June test but did not get a score I was willing to settle for. I think we met in the Feb thread of last year. I was never going to take it in the other two.outlookingin wrote:

took PT 57 today and it felt really difficult. Anyone else share this feeling? I'm ok with the 170 I got, but still shaken up by how hard it felt.

I just don't think 35 minutes is enough time to get close to a 100% confidence level. But you don't need that much confidence. I feel the same way about the same amount of questions but I consisently only miss one or two a section.Wormfather wrote:PT 60 this morn. 33 minute sections
LR1 - 2 (felt incredibly rushed here)
LG - 4 (and here)
LR2 - 0 (not here)
RC - 2 (traditionally my worst section so I gave myself the whole 35, plus I recognized 1 of the passages)
Scaled score 173. I think I'm peaking, which is good because I don't have much time for anything other than PTs because of school.
Quick question, do you ever become confident in LR? I feel like 6 or 7 of the questions I'm only 85% sure I'm making the right choice, I'd like to mark an answer and confidently move on, ya know?

Re: October 2012 Retakers
Don't wait for 100% confidence. If you can't get there, get to 60%, bubble it in, and circle it so you can come back to it if you have more time. Obviously, comfort with question types will help, but there are going to be some head-scratchers in there.
Also, don't worry too much about the -2 in LR.... That's very respectable. Getting that LG down to -0 is probably a more pressing concern.

PT 57 today
LR1: -0
LR2: -1
LG: -1
RC: -1
Raw: 98
Scaled: 179
Would love if this was a test day outcome.
Really wish I had a brand new test I've never seen before so I could gauge the accuracy of these retakes.

Yeah... that's tricky.
Rc focus for the next three weeks. LR1 is good, LG is good, Rc is not. Fix it!!!!!

I might be in the same situation if I need to retake in December. How many tests would have saved? It will be interesting to see how well you do. I hope you knock it out of the ballpark on test day!Gisney wrote:PT 57 today

Anyone have some good RC advice? Today on Preptest 59 I went -4(LR), -6(LG), -2(LR), and -12 (RC). I always seem to get anywhere from -8 to -12 on RC, which is absolutely trashing my score. I'm almost to the point where I want to just try and kill three passages and guess on the 4th. Should I spend a couple days hardcore adopting a strategy like Voyager's? I REALLY need help lol.

I would say at least 4. That way you can start out with retakes then take a few new tests and finish out with some retakes.cloudhidden wrote:

You don't really neeed more for december since you will only have a little over a month for more tests

Re: October 2012 Retakers
Has anyone else noticed that their PTs from warmup / experimentals are consistently higher than regular tests? I finished SPA which I used as first-section experimentals on the last 4 PTs... 179!
SPA - 179 (first-section experimentals)
SPB - 179 (warmups - one passage/game/4pg LR at a time)
SPC - 180 (mid-section experimentals)
Now, all 3 of these are technically repeats (spring 2008 was the last time I saw them though and I didn't really recall anything on them). However, I've been averaging low-mid 170s lately (174 on my last 3 PTs including two retakes), yet I'm consistently scoring much higher on experimental and warmup sections... not sure what to make of this.
Anyway, anyone else noticed any kind of trend like this with experimental sections or warmup sections going better?

Yea I have noticed higher scores as well. I think it is because you are calmer when you know it is an exp and not worried about it. You can think more clearly.cahwc12 wrote:Has anyone else noticed that their PTs from warmup / experimentals are consistently higher than regular tests? After having thinking that I made progress in LR...took PT 65 today...
LR - 7
LG -0
RC - 4
LR -8
For a grand 166.
Really disappointed as I was averaging -3/-4 on individually time LR sections.

espresso do not give up now. 3 more weeks of practice tests should put you in top shape. I am not sure what I am going to do when I no longer have to spend my weekends and nights studying for the LSAT...write essays I guess?

I'm not sure it was a hiccup -- that's what scares me. I was legit confused over
some of the questions. It was my first PT in awhile and I was nervous as though
I was taking the real thing.
