This. I hate people who do this.

There are video explanations on Velocity Test Prep for the PTs for which you need explanations.

There are written explanations for some of them on LSAT Hacks.

For LG, I prefer the more detailed video explanations at 7Sage.

Regardless, I'm taking my first PT tomorrow (June 2011). Scared as hell.

ETA: Should I print out two copies of the test (one for the actual take and one for BR)?
I would print out two scantrons and just use one test to save paper. I cross letters out on the timed and then mark on the right of the AC's on the BR usually.

Good luck on your PT tomorrow!

Today I drilled 10 In/Out games. Went -2 with good timing so I'm happy.

I did 10 LGs today (Simple and Complex Ordering and one In/Out Grouping). Timing felt good and accuracy was also solid. One thing that I've noticed is the value of eliminating answers that are clearly wrong. Yes, there are certainly problems that you can identify the right answer and be off to the races, but a lot of questions are expedited by knocking off the answers that are clearly wrong first. I'm glad I'm starting to recognize that.

I just redid the LG on PT 33. I've seen these games before, so I finished Games 1 and 4 in just over 6 minutes. I finished Game 2 in under 8. But the third game (about a jeweler with rubies, sapphires, and topazes) destroyed me again. I got all of them right, but it took me 14.5 minutes to do. I think trying to split the game board was a bad idea. There were just too many possibilities. It didn't really help. I think these grouping games where the numerical distribution is not fixed may be my least favorite type of LG. Sometimes it helps to split. Other times it doesn't, but I guess that's true for other games as well.

I read the Manhattan LR chapter on principle support questions and now I'm drilling those questions. Going well so far! Watching the Tigers game @ 4 while enjoying a (probably several) delicious local Double IPA is my motivation to get through most of the 96 questions in the packet.

Best of luck to those PTing today!

Woohoo! Congrats!
Once you get the hang of LG, it's not bad at all.

I'm definitely feeling a strong urge to skip blind review and rush to the answers right now, but I am going to practice self-control. 8)

gamerish wrote:I couldn't wait for it to be scored so I had my friend score it for me so I could still BR it without knowing what I got wrong.

Score was 165 up from 156 on my diagnostic.

LG was -2 (up from -12)
LR 1 was -6 (up from -7)
LR 2 was -6 (up from -7)
RC was -3 (no change)

I've only been studying LR was like a week and a half so I wasn't expecting a huge improvement. Both sections were time issues rather than accuracy issues. Same goes for RC - all the questions I missed were in the last passage which I got to at the 5 minute warning.

I'm really happy and feeling pretty optimistic at this point which is not where I thought I'd be at all.
I'll second Rigo in saying that you are in great position for October. Good job!

Nice progress Gamer. I'm sitting at 165 as my high too from 151. Signed up for June and hoping to drop my LR incorrect pretty significantly before deciding whether to take or postpone.

Good to see you're getting the hang of LG though. The timing is tough, especially when you aren't sure how difficult upcoming games will be.

"Easy" is relative. Maybe they only seemed easy because you've been working hard and gotten a lot better.

Work has picked up quite heavily so I haven't had a lot of chance to actually study much lately (or even post here on TLS). Every weekend until June is now a study day.

Today, I managed to get drill through about 150 LR questions. I'm not sure if that's a lot, but I'll need to pick up steam and do more tomorrow as well. It's 2AM and I'm eating pizza trying to relax after a day of studying (lol). I'll probably wake up early and do a section or two before more drilling.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
