I would love this. I usually study at home on my desk, but I would love to get some experience in a library where there are other people studying and writing on their papers/reading books etc..34iplaw wrote:Yeah... blegh. Are there such things as private libraries outside of like unis? I wonder if that is an idea that could take off in some places. Like those old sports clubs of yore but instead a library with a membership fee that is exclusive... I guess that just teeters on social clubs though. Apparently, I looked really irritated, as the person at the other end of the table came to apologize since he thought his music through his headphones was bothering me. I felt a bit bad about that.Alexandros wrote:Yeah - I think I get the logic itself for the most part, it's just that the games always seem more difficult / time-consuming / 'messier' than I feel like they should.34iplaw wrote:No problem - I think the latter part of it is the most important TBH... a contrapositive is far more useful when it tells you something must occur than when it tells you something can't occur.Alexandros wrote:Thanks! That's really helpful.34iplaw wrote:Not sure which one those are, but, typically, those type of games the conditionals typically force the game to boil down to two or, at most, four possible sequencing 'tree' diagrams.Alexandros wrote:I think I need to start looking up explanations on RC. I seem to finish in time, but almost always get 1 or 2 wrong, usually for reasons other than misreading.
Also - Anyone have tips on pure sequencing games with a lot of conditional logic? ie 52.4, 73.1. I seemed to get turned around on those a lot.
Basically, a lot of the conditional logic they use, typically, in those (unless I haven't seen this type yet) are just obscenely convoluted ways of saying some ordering rule (or something in effect becomes an ordering rule when subject to other constraints.)
The other key I think (that you may be missing or not thinking of) is that if items can't stack/there are no ties, A - B -> C - D means that if you know D - C -> B - A... if ties, you need to be a little more careful... basically, it's sort of like an in out in that the contrapositive always tells you something that must be true rather than a must be false.![]()
I definitely find splitting the game into the possible diagrams seems to be the best way to go, but still end up turned around/with really messy diagrams way too often. I think I need to practice them more; they don't seem to be too common though, esp. on older games.
People in this library are deafeningly loud. It's beyond ridiculous and absurd.
I'm so sorry that you're being inflicted with a loud library. Outrageous. Public?
I think that they do get messier, but that could, in part, be due to feeling the need to diagram everything whereas not all (TBH, most) questions really call for it. I think being to hellbent on diagramming can really hurt for some of the games with twists.

Hi Everyone!
So, I took a break from TLS and from LSAT prep because I completely bombed the higher difficulty principle questions. So tonight and tomorrow, I will probably spend all day just reviewing these questions. I think I will try to redo these questions in a month to see if the review made a difference.
ETA: I just realized the test is literally a month from today. Exactly 31 days from today

Love em, just got a sweet charcoal pinstripe Canali today. I never used to go for three buttons, but this is the second this month and they're starting to grow on me.TheMikey wrote:Suits anyone?

It's all about the 3 roll 2. Seriously, 3 roll 2s are the best. If anyone's looking for a suit in a similar price range, EIDOS makes great suits, and, at the ends of seasons, you can get them from Bloomies for relative peanuts ($300-$400)... never buy a fused canvas suit!Shemp wrote:Love em, just got a sweet charcoal pinstripe Canali today. Is anyone else getting distracted by PokemonGO or am I the only one dumb enough to be playing it in their twenties?

This one's more like a 3 roll 2.5, you can use the top button but it's right at the bottom of the lapels.

At the beginning of the summer, I cashed out at Bloomies on suits/dress clothes. Always some really great deals there. I will have to check out EIDOS though...Haven't looked at their suits before. It's often tough for me to find a great slim fitting suit--I can't wait for the tailor-fit days ahead! Im a 42-44 Xtra Long slim fit depending on the brand (I am 6'4 with broad shoulders, but thin/muscular), which is hard to find. There is typically either too much room in belly (made for a fat person) or too short for me. Even some dress shirts, once i buy them, I have to get them taken in a little..34iplaw wrote:It's all about the 3 roll 2. Seriously, 3 roll 2s are the best. Haha - nice. Yeah - Bloomies end of seasons have really remarkable deals... especially on some of the nicer but not overly trendy/well-known labels. I'm done with buying clothing for awhile. The only thing I'll probably add is a blue blazer, as I lost weight and my old one doesn't fit me... it's the one thing I haven't added yet, as I hadn't seen a sufficiently good deal to jump on one.jagerbom79 wrote:At the beginning of the summer, I cashed out at Bloomies on suits/dress clothes. Ah - yeah. I suggest just finding the brand that fits you, so you can get it online/stores during sales...
EIDOS fits me pretty spot on, and I'm an 'athletic' non-athletic build (i.e. slim, not athletic, but broad shoulders). I'm not that tall though - 5'10" - so, I wear a short. They have them at most of the big box stores in major metros but not many other places... it's usually manufactured by ISAIA. Really awesome brand (both are... but ISAIA is just obscenely expensive)
I just need to slim a little so I can wear a 38r/48r instead a 40s/50c...everything will be so cheap!

PT 20 tonight, -1 LR for a 180, but I did miss two on the RC from PT 74 that I included as an experimental.

21. I play it once in a while. Not as much as I did when it first came out, but I'll go on it on occasion.Giro423 wrote:Is anyone else getting distracted by PokemonGO or am I the only one dumb enough to be playing it in their twenties?
Plenty of adults play it, so don't worry about that lol

the first few times I heard people talking about Suits irl I didn't realize it was a show. Just thought everyone was expressing their love of men's formal wear.34iplaw wrote:Instrumental wrote:I thought he was talking about the show >_>

Two RC yesterday: 62 and 63; went -0 on both. Things finally seem to be clicking, and not a moment too soon.

Checking in super late! I just discovered I have access to the Library at work (I work for a hospital that's also a med school) and I knew only the people here would appreciate how excited that makes me for PTing.
Also....how is it almost September??? agg. Just booked my hotel room for the night before the test. Maybe I'll get like 2 hours of sleep now.

LOL just received the syllabus for one of my classes, realized that it's a ton of work, dropped it. I didn't need the class anyways and there's no freaking way I'm going to stress myself out in my senior year, I'm trying to half-ass it, not take it seriously. fook that.

Just did PT 61 LG. Went -5.
I'm so confused, I thought it was pretty straight forward and I was only iffy on 1 question. Very disappointed.

How do you guys approach "which one of the following, if substituted for XXXXX rule, would have the same effect?" questions in LG? Do you guys brute force your way down the questions or is there a way to just tell based on intuition by looking at the answers.

How do you do these. Plz help.
(Also is it just me or are those questions way more common in the newer PTs?)
in answer to the question though - I usually skim them and start with the ones that look the most plausible. There are usually a few A/Cs that look more likely than others.

Yeah they're more common in the way they're asking. Older tests seem to have the occasional "suppose the rule of A--> B is now B-->A" type of thing, whereas now they just tell you to pick something that would have the same effect. Both suck, LSAC you fuckers.Alexandros wrote:^^^^^TheMikey wrote:How do you guys approach "which one of the following, if substituted for XXXXX rule, would have the same effect?" questions in LG?
