It's okay, I can't read time either. Fake it till you make it ~*~msp8 wrote:Yeah, I've got the 180watch. I felt a bit stupid buying it, because it's pretty cheaply made and just seems wholly unnecessary, but I have this thing with watches... never liked them, so the simpler the better, and 180watch is super simple/clear for me.
Have the same logic, re: reselling it thereafter.
And, fwiw, I quite like it.

Not many reality checks are better at reminding you how fucked you are for June than dropping 5 points on a PT after a week off.

I know this feeling. I basically have the same reaction as the caterpillar (or whatever the hell that is) on your avatar when I score lower than expected. But I'd rather find out my weaknesses now than on test day. At least there is still some time to improve.TheWalkingDebt wrote:Not many reality checks are better at reminding you how fucked you are for June than dropping 5 points on a PT after a week off.

Its crazy how you guys can these questions done in 1:25, I have a long way to go. If anyone wants to take a look at PT21, S2, Q20 (Anna taking leave of absence), please share your wisdom.
Even after spending an hour looking at this thing I can't really definitively say why its correct. But moreso, I am wondering how you guys come across fresh LR questions with such complicated material that you are able to finish in under two minutes or so. I am drilling now and so many times I come across questions where I do not know whether to write out conditionals or not, and at my quickest I can get them done without certainty and at least over 2min.

There's going to be some questions that take longer, but you gotta be able to skim and finish the gimme's real quick.

I feel like I discovered a groundbreaking method for perfection on LR. Most often, you are able to eliminate 3 choices and 2 seem relevant. After thinking about it for some time, pick the opposite one your brain and process convinced you to take (even if you spend an hour writing the conditional logic on a separate sheet of paper), your actual choice will always be wrong because you are a small-minded, pathetic individual.
YCW--->OCR
If your choice is wrong, the other choice is right.

^^This. I like this idea.TheWalkingDebt wrote: I am planning on doing a section approach with LR question types I get wrong on PTs, but mixing and matching question types instead of doing all one question type.
BP Ben wrote:Oh yeah, I remember Frozinite. There's some good advice in that guide, but the build-your-own section idea for drilling doesn't make much sense to me, honestly. I guess the point was to find some sensible way to time your drills, but you'll never be able to assemble a "section" of drills that's meant to take the exact same amount of time as a real LSAC-tested section. Also, the difficulty ratings are a bit arbitrary, and they don't necessarily correspond with time allotments, which can vary across question types. (For example, if you're doing an entire section's worth of parallel questions, they would probably all have to be level 1s to fit reasonably within 35 mins--just due to the sheer volume of reading and number of steps required to solve them.) So I wouldn't recommend it personally, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to try it out.
I wasn't so concerned with timing them. I liked your earlier advice of untimed drilling. It just seemed beneficial prima facie to mix them up. Now I'm rethinking that and overthinking the whole drilling pocess in general apparently haha.

Sup, Everyone! How's the coffee this morning? I went for a grande red eye!
I am planning 3 big days of studying starting today. Trying to up it to the next level. I am half way through the Trainer, and it has simply been great! I might even do it twice. Once I learn all I can from this great book, I will move on to the MLSAT books!
May your coffee gratify your senses this morning!

I'm feeling the positive attitude! It makes this crappy coffee taste a little less bitter. The Trainer should be coming in next week for me and I'm stoked!biggestlawman wrote:Sup, Everyone! How's the coffee this morning? I went for a grande red eye!

The great OP returns to offer this public service announcement: Don't forget to use up your college print quota before school ends.
Just be prepared for nasty looks when you use the building's only public printer to print out 400 pages of PTs.

Now that I'm thinking about it, doing fake sections and timing them at 35:00 might mess up your internal pacing for real sections, which is bad.
I didn't say I was timing them (maybe it was implied with the phrase "section approach" but I didn't mean for that to be the case). Also I like the mixed approach because I think it balances the targeted drilling aspect and mindset-changing aspect well. Personally, if I sit here and do 100-200 necessary assumption questions in a row, I'm going to start glazing over and not really be engaged.

Hey, does anyone know where i can find test explanations for PTs 57 onward? Or do those not exist at all? I have a bunch of Kaplan Test Explanations but they only go up to PT 56.

The 1:25 guideline isn't useful because the trick is to do the easy questions quickly so you have extra time for the hard ones. Sometimes I'll do the first 20 in 15 minutes and then spend several minutes thinking about one of the hard questions at the end.betterLawyerUP wrote:Its crazy how you guys can these questions done in 1:25, I have a long way to go.
The more you ignore the "material," the better. All that matters is the underlying logic, which you'll come to recognize more quickly as you practice.fresh LR questions with such complicated material
