And thanks smallville for the encouragement!
Superman is right, you will do great. And TLS can get crazy and overwhelming sometimes when it seems like everyone here scores really high. But take it when you feel like you are ready based on your goals, not at the arbitrary 170+ cutoff that exists on here. And yes, plenty of time and stay positive
For every high scorer, there are low scorers here as well. Usually, if people score highly, they continue to post here. When people score, idk like 150 or lower, or even 160 or lower, I think there's a hint of embarrassment and inferiority (there shouldnt be but that's just the way it is) and they stop posting here.

PT 48
LR: -4 (-3 BR)
RC: -3
LG: -0

171

Pretty stoked considering I just dropped a 163.

If I miss another one of these "author's tones" questions on RC, I'm going to go to Newtown, PA and have a very pointed, polite conversation about how ridiculous the Q type is.

I mean it totally makes sense when you take this test, the LG is a joke. Looking back through, I changed 3 answers from right-->wrong

I don't know it's just happening. One thing I am committing to though is treating every question and not taking any for granted. Other than that all I've been doing is BR and reading the Manhattan forums.
Dave Hall also has freebies (video explanations!) on his website (velocitylsat) that I've really appreciated during my prep. Also Dave Hall is a BAMF.

Oh wait there are RC videos? Nice, it can be pretty hard to find RC explanations.

You're going this cycle right? What's your plan with schools that are reaches right now, the submit w/ requested deferral schtick?

Wow congrats on the GPA, but I'm asking for holds from T14s where I'm 25-50% GPA+LSAT. It's the few where I'm just at or above the median that I'm stressing over. I wouldn't mind a WL, but if I got dinged I would feel so silly

I feel creeping improvement with my LR and LG sections, but RC is still the worst of all time. Managed to get a 170+ on BR, which made me feel some type of way because I've never gotten those numbers on anything. Buttttt, that doesn't count so yeah, back to drilling.

PT43
RC: -9/-6
LR1: -4/-4
LR2: -5/-1
LG: -2/-0

Raw Score: 81/90
164/171

On the days when I'm not taking a PT, I'm going to do 2 RC sections + 1 LR back to back timed and blind review them. The struggle to get the RC score down is real.

I know the Trainer gets a lot of praise here for its RC, but I find Manhattan's latest edition to be much better. Has some great drills and strategies. It's also a quick read so don't be worried about reading it so close to your test date.

I'm a big fan of Manhattan for RC. You really, really need to be reading FOR something in RC, or you're going to waste the 4-5 minutes you spend up front ogling. IMO the idea of a scale is great for author's intent and main idea, and organizing a passage.

I'm also coming around on BR for RC. My thinking was that it was less useful because unlike LR where the answer choices are where most of the deception comes from, in RC you should be focusing on the text anyway - so it's almost like BR is teaches you bad habits. But for main point and intent Q's (which is where I drop points now), BR is extremely helpful in refining your elimination process.

However, I maintain that the best thing you can do to help your RC score is to improve pattern recognition, which only comes from volume.

Nice job. Start getting confident now so nothing phases you! The -4 on BR for LR1 is a little concerning though, but it may have just simply been a tough LR

I read Manhattan's RC 2nd edition and found it somewhat helpful but repetitive. I'm definitely going to look into The Trainer. Since I've already gone through Manhattan's LR and RC books, do you think its worth it buy and read The Trainer at this point?

Agreed, I was a little :? :? when I scored the same on BR, but I nailed those questions down post-review so that I'll (hopefully) never make similar errors. Overall, I'm stoked about the ongoing improvement since ~2 weeks ago I was scoring -11-14 total on those sections.

I get an absurd amount of validation from the 7sage guy agreeing with me. "This is a really hard game, probably one of the hardest LSAT games" THANK YOU.

/will never be one of those people for whom LG is a guaranteed -0. At least I'll always have you, LR.

Has a long chat, and took the bullet. 4 weeks more studying to improve is worth the possible reward.

Week 1 Plan is to spend this week one LG a day to keep those at 0, 1 RC to track, and then push on LR, where I can do the most good to my score.
Will reassess what to do 2-4 as I go along

If I do a 164 or worse, there is no downside.

Dec PT were 168's with a on-off 171
Dec real was 164, LG 0, RC -7, LR -7/-7

Yea, something like if its okay to accept the answers that a supercomputer gives us even though we cannot solve them ourselves to check. I ran into while drilling so I have no idea what PT its from

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
