Studying before the craziness begins at work today (I'll be at work until midnight). It's Sine Die and that means insanity.biggestlawman wrote:How is everyone on this fine day?

Finished drilling suff. assumption questions. Missed 6 or 7 of the 58 q's, all of which were level 4's. I suppose that's a positive, but it means I'll have to work on not falling for trap answers on the highest difficulty questions, which is something that should resolve when I start PTing. In terms of the NA packet, I've missed three or so of 80 drilled so far (all timed), one of which was due to misreading an answer choice (a perfectly unacceptable way to miss a question, which I will be sure not to repeat). Also drilled a few complex ordering games a few nights ago and it went very well, -0 on three games with good timing. Just began the flaw packet and had a good start with 10/10 (level 1, of course). Will begin drilling RC passages in the near future.
ETA: It's a stroke of luck that I found this site, leading me to 7Sage, Cambridge and the Manhattan forums, months ago before I started studying. Great resources, all of them.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
I am horrified by what I got on the LG section of PrepTest A. I finished the first game in under 5 minutes. I finished the second game around 9 minutes even with a restart. But things started to unravel on the third game, which on hindsight is actually just slightly harder than the average sequencing game. I just froze, so after taking a stab at a few questions, I moved to the fourth game about silk and wool rugs. This turned out to be a bad idea because it was even harder. After reading in haste, I failed to properly interpret one of the rules. This drained a lot of my time, so I went back to the third game. There wasn't much time left, so I just panicked and missed the rest of the questions. With a couple of correct guesses, I ended up with a 16/24 for the section.
This is the first fresh PrepTest I have taken in two months. I am now a little concerned that I may not be as prepared to tackle the LG section as I thought. I've been drilling using games I've seen before, and I do well on them. But they obviously do not provide the assurance that I can handle a fresh set of games come test day.
On the bright side, I got -1 on RC and -4 on LR. Had I done well on LG, I could have scored in the 170s. Because this is an older PrepTest, however, it most likely has an easier RC and LR than the recent ones, so I should continue to study and drill for those sections. I'm probably still in the 165 to 168 range. I really want to get at least a 173, but I'm beginning to feel like that's not possible in 66 days.

So how many hours do you guys study for a day/week? I've read about people on this site studying between 5-12 hours a day before.
I can't imagine the mental discipline and endurance required to study 10 hours a day. Law school will definitely be a lot worse, but the context of law school and self-studying for the LSAT alone is rather different.

I mainly just picture everything I can have if I pass this learnable test. It's funny and absolutely dumb and ridiculous but I use everything as motivation including attractive people of the opposite sexRZ5646 wrote:How do you find motivation to study?

Though sometimes I feel like the LSAT is such a huge weight on me mentally and physically, if I can score well in June I'd probably be able to fly.

The first reading in the RC for PT36 is hilarious. Were internet forums really once called conferences?

Engineering PM. I get shipped to clients in need, and then, when the assignment is done, say in few months or few years, I return to the office for few weeks or even couple months with nothing to do, and I can do whatever I want, which these days is studying!ChoboPie wrote:o_O Now I'm curious, what kind of job do you work?biggestlawman wrote:D'hude! Totally agree with the sentiment. But I just wanted to make the (probably obvious and unnecessary, as per usual) contribution that no matter who you are, studying more is always better than studying less. Just schedule recovery days when you need them, but otherwise go ham.zacboro wrote:It's whatever works for you!

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
What's the best way to go about drilling LR question types? I just bought one of the Cambridge volumes and each chapter has about 60 questions in them. I've printed out the first three chapters and I plan to spend a heavy amount of time doing them this weekend. Should I be timing myself while working through these questions? Should I take my time to each question correctly and work for high accuracy with no timer? Should I complete all 60 in a section before checking the answers?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
