6 sections is a great idea. Gonna do that for at least a couple of my last PT's.

Re: February 2013 LSAT Study Group
I'm taking the week off from work all of next week. Gonna do six sections a day. Finally I can prep in the morning, when its day out. I could only do so on weekends and always felt weird as a result. I need to climatize myself to the test.

Next Monday I'm going to do an 8-section PT-- then 5 section will REALLY seem easy...ws81086n wrote:6 sections is a great idea. Gonna do that for at least a couple of my last PT's.
I find I actually perform better (small sample size though) on 6 section PTs. I might do a couple sections the morning of the exam to prepare. 1776LSAT talked about that in his guide and it seemed to work for him, I'm finding similar stuff for me.

You're totally right, that is a much better approach. Provided you try the lower answer choice of whichever ones you want to try first, firstgobosox wrote:I used to, but now I have a much much MUCH better approach.ws81086n wrote:Anyone else start with (E) and move up on a conditional LG question where it's obvious that you're going to have to test every case?
Take a step back and think in theoretical terms about which variables have the most constraints based on them that apply to this situation, and do that one first. For example, if there is rule that says if F is in G is out and if G is in F is out, that's a great place to start. It takes an extra 2 or 3 seconds, but it usually pans out in the first AC or two.

I really hope that i wont screw up my test, otherwise all this work will be in vain.

Re: February 2013 LSAT Study Group
after a couple of uninspiring days, i've had some break throughs today, for seemingly no good reasons
been lights out on LR today
picking up speed on RC. my new approach is that i have no time to pause or check my times or fill out my bubbles answers by answer, i chug along without any impediment. getting through every question now with similar accuracy, except, all of a sudden, i am struggling with main point questions. idk why. never had problems with these when i read like a snail. same is true with structure questions. getting those right, they just slow me down. idk any advice

mentally tracking the structure of the passage as you go really helps

Took PT 67 today. Feels good.
95/100, 176.
-3 RC
-2 Combined LR
-0 LG (zones is NOT as hard as everyone says, but was a bitch to try and make a setup for it.)
About where I'm hoping to be... Just wish I could get to -1 or so on RC... People taking it tomorrow, update me on how you do! 1 week left!!!!!

Nice job. I agree that Zones was not all it was cracked up to be. I attempted it 2 months ago, well before I was anywhere close to where I am now LG-wise, and I thought it was very manageable.

zones def wasnt that bad, HOWEVER, I took the oct. lsat and when I got to that game (I believe it was game 3 on the test and it was the 4th section for me) I was a little mentally exhausted and when I first read it I had a WTF moment and had to read it numerous times to grasp what it was asking, so that kind of got me tripped up and pressed for time so I ended up having to rush through it and got like -3/-4 wrong....when I re-did the game later on my own time when I was relaxed, it def didnt seem as hard as it was on game day and I got -0 on it, ah well

5 Section PT62 with proctor:
RC -1
LR -4
LG -1
LR -2
LRX -4
94/102, 175. I found this PT to be on the harder end though I am quite upset at my LR performance. I wasn't as confident and quick as I usually am. Need to really sharpen the LR edge before next Sat. Thankfully I have almost zero commitments until then, so going to PT-review-drill.
I've basically plateaued around the 92/93 raw score area. Really going to push hard to break this plateau and end up on the other side of the mid-170s hump.

So are people generally planning to take next Friday off, or continue prepping? I'm not sure what the ideal balance is between relaxing/avoiding burnout and being as prepared for the test as possible.

I'm going to do some games, maybe an RC passage or two, and some LR drilling. Noting timed. Going to try and get some exercise too.
Oh, and watch Suits.

I know whatcha mean. It was the 4th game on the PT, guess they switched it up. In a way though it's worse if the third game is a bitch, as opposed to the last.JDot wrote:----------------ws81086n wrote:Nice job. I agree that Zones was not all it was cracked up to be. Sounds great - I think I'm going to do exactly this (although I'll probably replace Suits with The Good Wife).

Definitely going to do some LR and LG drilling. One is liable to be more and more nervous the closer one gets to test-day, so whatever you do, be it a PT/drilling/whatever, it will better and better simulate the actual test. Unless of course you're just a freak who doesn't get nervous.

Re: February 2013 LSAT Study Group
Well after 3 months of studying I seem to be hovering around the 170-172 range. The misses being pretty much split up equally between LR and RC. If I felt like this was the best I could do I would be happy with it. However, I dont think I have reached my maximum potential and am therefore going to postpone until June.
My goal is to get LR down to -0/-1 per passage and hopefully with practice I can get RC down a few points as well. At this point I would be perfectly satisfied if I could consistently get -3 on RC.
Good Luck of the Feb Test everyone! I hope I DONT see you in the June thread (and I mean that in a positive way).
