@34 - I agree that it would hurt reverse splitters (perhaps the most), but it would also hurt splitters. I think it would help people who would otherwise be reverse splitters - Applicants who could do well on the GRE but not the LSAT (but didn't actually take the latter).
I do agree that's it's too soon to say on all these fronts - and I hope things won't change very fast, if they do. My point is only that there are a great deal of potential negatives and not many positives (unless you count the short term interests of HLS).

Thats good haha! Damnit DJ!!!!!!!Alexandros wrote:I agree completely - Increasing the importance of GPA and decreasing standardized measures is going to get you a student body with easier majors and less diverse backgrounds (Goodbye STEM people). And I think adcomms must know that, which is why I'm hopeful that the change won't be too drastic (especially since they're claiming its goal is to increase diversity). But speaking purely from a numerical standpoint, that's what it looks like.jagerbom79 wrote:Hmm yeah, Your argument makes a ton of sense. I was just thinking from a very broad standpoint that they are trying to get more students who aren't as statistically outstanding as have been typically accepted in the past mainly in regards to GPA. For the most part, I think its safe to argue that there are a ton of people as proof in this thread who have "above average and really good" (as in the average kid who goes to college) GPA who are brilliant people who will have extremely successful futures, but these applicants wouldnt be accepted because they dont have a 3.8x+ GPA. I think the schools see that these applicants with slightly lower GPAs can contribute the same and if not more than their perfect numbers counterparts.Alexandros wrote:If (for instance) CLS's GPA shoots up and its LSAT stays the same, folks like us will be just another brick in the wall.oopsu812 wrote:I'm just selfishly hoping it'll help people in the 3.8ish, 175+ range, lol.

This won't affect next cycle at all really and imo won't do anything for some time, so y'all ITT have nothing to worry about.
This is all DJ's fault btw.

My score was a fluke but I think 175 is realistic, especially with an end to the retake rule, and (as things stand) that's all I'd really need. Despite everything I've been saying, I don't think schools really want a class that's 99% poli sci majors from University of Easy State School*, and realistically it would be ridiculous if 3.8x and 175+ stop seeing $$$ because of this.

You have a tough decision to make, that's for sure. I have no doubt that you'll make the right one. I think you're right. At the end of the day, a 3.8x and 175+ with some interesting life and work experience, and a convincing narrative about why law school isn't likely to get the shaft because of a bunch of KJDs, still in undergrad, with high GRE scores, applying on a whim.

I agree with you. Don't throw away your shot, Alexander Hamilton.Alexandros wrote: I agree.
And yeah fortunately I don't have to make it right now. End of the day I can get LSAT back, but I can't get time back, and if I have to trade one for the other, better it be the former.

Whoa, shots fired at us high gpa folks
And Twix, I asked about LORs in person and and ended up informally emailing my writers about things, like updates, resumes, interests, etc. So I'm not sure how much help I can be for how to properly craft an email to a letter writer. I genuinely knew these people so it was very chill and relaxed and informal all around

Yeah I would say my relationships with these professors is more friendly than professional. I grab beers with them whenever I'm in town. So I think informal would be fine, I just figured I'd make the initial reach out (in a few weeks) somewhat more formal just to be nice. Maybe I'm over doing it though.chargers21 wrote:Whoa, shots fired at us high gpa folks![]()

Those profs are the best profs, eh? I once had a prof take out and buy drinks for ~15 people from the class who came out.TWiiX wrote:Yeah I would say my relationships with these professors is more friendly than professional. Presuming I know which T13 to which you refer, I wouldn't be shocked that the COL at the colder and gorges place is going to run you a few more thousand per year than Durham, NC.chargers21 wrote:I heard back about money from that one t13 school that's really cold. 30k more than my Duke offer. See if Duke ups your money in response or just go where you'd prefer to spend three years, IMO.
