What schools outside T14 do you guys think provide the best employment opportunities, big law & non-big, in NYC ?

If BigLaw is the goal, Emory would scare me.

I think there is something to be said about putting yourself where you want to be. You want NYC big law then go to NY and get it. Do well at Cardozo and Fordham and you can get into a top firm... I've seen a few of my UG classmates do thisTheProdigal wrote:That might be somewhat generous according to their own materials.LurkSoHard wrote:I think Emory places very well in NYC Big-LawC.g.19 wrote:Sorry if this isn't the appropriate spot to post this, new to this site but I've been enjoying reading through the posts as I lose my mind waiting for my score.

Less than 12% place into New York. Anyone's guess how much of that is biglaw, but that's not huge slice of graduates placing into NY.

I would also encourage any questions about Emory in the Emory Applicant thread.

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
Hearing that Emory is struggling with K&S and A&B scares me. Last I read, top 10 or 5 weren't getting callbacks from in-city big firms. That's bad. However, Emory does have some great ties with PI stuff. I know that personally. But if BigLaw is your goal, Emory is not the best place probably.TheProdigal wrote:http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/ ... tion/2014/LurkSoHard wrote:True, but not bad for t20 IMHO, but you can definitely correct me if I am wrong! And since we are on a GA kick. If you are from GA and want to practice in GA, go to UGA. The cost difference and alum association will make up for the prestige.

there's always people in the top echelons that strike out though, usually due to some mixture of terrible interviewing skills or weirdness or just fuck ups.The Abyss wrote:Hearing that Emory is struggling with K&S and A&B scares me. that being said, thoughts on Emory vs WUSTL?
I hear WUTSTL's pretty chill (even chiller by the fact that it's a free app) though its distance from major markets is troublesome for a school in its position/rank

Emory. At least you are in a better market, a better city, etc. Both throw out a lot of money. But I'd rather spend 3 years in ATL than St. Louis and ATL is the better legal market overall I would think.candidlatke wrote:there's always people in the top echelons that strike out though, usually due to some mixture of terrible interviewing skills or weirdness or just fuck ups.The Abyss wrote:Hearing that Emory is struggling with K&S and A&B scares me. Uhh? But the only NY law schools higher ranked than TX and Vandy are Columbia and NYU?kepfd24 wrote:I'll take a stab at this - looking forward to hearing what others think as well.C.g.19 wrote:Sorry if this isn't the appropriate spot to post this, new to this site but I've been enjoying reading through the posts as I lose my mind waiting for my score.

First depends what you want to do, e.g. Big Law, PI
Depends what region you want to be in - A top regional school like TX or Vandy may be better for employment than a higher ranked school which is in NY, for example.

That's missing Cornell, and Michigan, UPenn, NW, Chicago, Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard, etc. All these schools have first dibs at NYC, not Fordam, or Brooklyn or whatever.ffamran wrote:Uhh? Sounds good to me. I'd rather stick to your advice about not thinking too far ahead before we get scores back. Just cuz I'm not 100% sure, that is Jennifer Lawrence as your TAR right?theugg wrote:Seriously. The posts on this page are making me nervousThe Abyss wrote:Ok, but back to shitposting. C'mon folks.
