Use a time-up stopwatch. Keep a record of the time it takes you to do each game. Whenever you exceed what you think (or 7Sage suggests) would be ideal for that game, print it out and do it again, faster.SauceSoMild wrote:How would you go about doing so?Colonel_funkadunk wrote:VerySauceSoMild wrote:How focused should I be on time when I'm drilling games?

Re: The Official December 2014 Study Group
Focus on developing and then habitual(izing) a process. There are only not very many question types on LG; apart from the substitution and minimum/maximum questions etc., there are only four (MBT, CNBT, CBT, NNT), and from there only two scopes (global and local), so it is very manageable to have an approach to each of the 8 possibilities (along with the minor question types). The more you practice this routine, the faster you will become. Hard to cut corners here.SauceSoMild wrote:How would you go about doing so?Colonel_funkadunk wrote:VerySauceSoMild wrote:How focused should I be on time when I'm drilling games?
This is a Manhattan strategy, but I gauge 'time' (on the LSAT) by process and not temporally. For example, if a question is giving me trouble on the first pass then I will not look at my timer to see how much time I have already spent/have left, but rather I repeat my process again. I know that I don't have time to do my process more than twice, and so at that point I move on.

GreenTee im so glad you asked. Focus on polarities. Every 3 and half minutes there will be a pole reversal that you can feel internally, however since we dont need to recognize it- we generally don't. Focus on these poles and your internal timing will be spot on.GreenTee wrote:Hi Colonel_funkadunk. I'm preparing for the Law School Admission Test, but I'm blind, deaf, and missing both thumbs. Re: The Official December 2014 Study Group
This is basically my games prep strategy, first I get a game down in terms of 100% accuracy, and then I get it down to my ideal time, however many times that takes, and then I print out two extra copies, one to do the next time and one to do at the end of the week just to confirm. Everybody's got little differences in their strategies, I'm sure, but the time-up stopwatch really helps, and so does recording your time on each attempt, so those are great ideas to incorporate.GreenTee wrote:Use a time-up stopwatch. Re: The Official December 2014 Study Group
Completed three PTs in the past two weeks:
PT61 22/10
LR -12
RC -10
LG -8
Exp LG: can't remember score
Raw 71 Scaled 158
Spent a day drilling weak LR areas them completed PT 57
PT 57 24/10
LR -8 (LR1 -4 LR2 -4)
RC -5
LG -6
Exp RC: can't remember score
Raw 82 Scaled 164
I was determined to kill LG. So I decided to ignore LR and RC for a few days and drilled Linear Games, Advanced Linear Games, in/out games games and basic grouping games ovet and over and over until I could complete most games in under 7 minutes since timing on LG is my biggest issue.
PT53 30/10 (today)
LR-11 (LR1 -6 LR2 -5)
RC -5
LG -0
Exp LR: -5
Raw 84 Scaled 166
I'm pissed that my LR score dropped but I expected it, I've been neglecting LR the past couple of days. I finished LG in 33 minutes and had absolutely no idea what to do with the extra time since it has never ever happened to me before. I got lucky since the games were exactly inter game types that I drilled over the past few days
This is my highest score to date, I've broken the low 160s curse

Always enjoy seeing your daily posts to see your not just hiding doing nothing... keep up the good work MCmornincounselor wrote:I really feel like I'm making progress with these reading comp passages. You really just have to print out every passage (I'd start with 32 onwards because of the amazing video explanation on those ones offered by velocity) and do them all one by one.
RC is the section that the huge bulk of your work is with drilling. LR maybe ~half of it is, lots goes into learning the question types, same with LG and learning to diagraham and stuff. But, RC really is all about drilling. I'd probably suggest at least doing 1 experimental RC with every PT you do and maybe do a section with your morning coffee or before bed.
I'm trying to do them all with time to spare so reoughly 2.5 sections (10 passages) every day -- tremendously helpful.

Re: The Official December 2014 Study Group
Knocked out PT 54 just now, using the 7Sage proctor. I am noticing that I spend a lot of time notating on RC and it's costly towards ending passages. I think I might start RC at the end and then work my way backwards to the beginning where there are less questions (that low hanging fruit). LG was better this time around, although I left one question blank and had to calm myself down halfway through. DON'T BE AFRAID TO SKIP QUESTIONS. LR was fairly difficult this test yet I believe I did relatively normal. I plan on doing blind review, grading, and drilling tomorrow. I'll post my score then. Cook on, brethren! 38 DAYS left.

Hi, mornincounselor, mornincounselor wrote:Does anyone have cambridge for RC? I was wondering which passages of PT's 10-20 are considered level 4.
I don't - but 7Sage's analytics note the difficulty of questions, so in case no one answers this question, that's a potential resource.
Best,
J.Y.
ETA: Also, when you're drilling your 10 RC's, do you stop and take a break (bang out 4 sections per 35, do something else) or do you just do all 10 in one shot?

I have the RC packets by Subject time for PT1-38 and there's hardly any Level 4 difficulties listed.
