There's a bunch of them on Amazon, used for $100-$1000+!LionSquall wrote:Does anyone know if there's a way to buy the Cambridge packets? and what exactly was included in those packets? is there an alternative to them? I've heard great things form them.
And good luck to everyone taking this test!! I will be taking mine in December but I'll start studying very soon.
I think there's a blog where they listed all problems [referenced by test number, section number, question number] by type. It would be on you to then sort through the tests.

the most cost-efficient way is to buy all the PTs and use LSATBlog or the Trainer site to do problems by type. however, do not write directly on the PTs so you can go back and actually take it later and do not drill from recent PTs (I'd use 1-38)34iplaw wrote:There's a bunch of them on Amazon, used for $100-$1000+!LionSquall wrote:Does anyone know if there's a way to buy the Cambridge packets? and what exactly was included in those packets? is there an alternative to them? @proteinshake, do you have a recommendation for when I should take one, using the bibles?proteinshake wrote:take a diagnostic after chapter 5 of the TrainerCoGar wrote:Hey all,
I'm in it for September! Just started The LSAT Trainer and have the Powerscore LG Bible in the mail. Actually really excited to delve into it. Planning on taking my first diagnostic in a couple of week because I want some foundation of the test before I go in. Hopefully thats not a HUGE deal (please tell me otherwise if you think its necessary to take one cold before I get too into it).
But anyway good luck to everyone and I'll be checking back in with progress!
So far, Ive been doing the Bible chapters and drilling using the question type book in accordance with the chapter i complete in the bible. I am following Pithy Pike's drilling strategy for LG, but as far as LR since there is a substantial amt of problems for each question type, im just drilling 15-20 right after I finish a chapter in the bible and then the next day or later on do the next set as I begin new material to keep it fresh. Of course, reviewing and trying to understand why I get a problem wrong and making sure my correct answers are understood and not just "guesses."
Is this an effective way to go about studying?
Progress wise: Getting the hang of LR and getting 95% of the questions I do correctly, however, time is an issue. My strategy is to make sure I can work through the problems and understand the logic of each question and the process required before worrying about time. At this point, im prob over-diagramming, but I again I think it is initially helping hammering the foundations of each problem-type into my head.

this isn't necessarily the correct method but I'm just taking a PT after I finish each of the three prep books I'm using. as opposed to drilling, the mix of questions in a PT helps me reinforce what I've been practicing while keeping me on my feet for whatever section I haven't been drilling on recently. I would say do the same. after each Bible, take a PT (but not a recent one)! don't look at the score until after you've blind reviewed.jagerbom79 wrote:@proteinshake, do you have a recommendation for when I should take one, using the bibles?proteinshake wrote:take a diagnostic after chapter 5 of the TrainerCoGar wrote:Hey all,

RANT.
I'm currently in China. It looks like the Sept test won't be offered. I can go to Hong Kong (5 hours by train) though. I was really hoping to take it locally but hey at least I have the fee waiver.

Are the 3 you are using the Trainer, Manahttan Series and bibles? And are you saying that I a full (old) PT after I finish the LR Bible, then another one after I finish the LG Bible and so-on, just as a way to give it some spacing? And are you currently still drilling full sections and question-types? in between those tests ?proteinshake wrote:this isn't necessarily the correct method but I'm just taking a PT after I finish each of the three prep books I'm using. as opposed to drilling, the mix of questions in a PT helps me reinforce what I've been practicing while keeping me on my feet for whatever section I haven't been drilling on recently. Also, I haven't taken a diagnostic yet. I felt doing one completely dry was a waste of time. I was wanting to get a decent grasp of the material first.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Had a hectic week last week and got zero prep done. But over the weekend I was able to finally BR PT 62
Results from original diagnostic under timed conditions:
RC: -7
LR1: -9
LG: -13
LR2: -5
157
After Blind Review:
RC: -2
LR1: -1
LG: -6 (this is pretty embarassing)
LR2: -3
172
I'm going to glean what I can in games from the trainer and then start drilling them. I will have to work on timing for LR and RC because it was definitely a factor.

I'm using the Trainer, Manhattan LR, and Manhattan LG. I didn't drill much when I read through the Trainer because of a class, but I drill after every chapter in the Manhattan LR/LG. after I finish each book, I take a PT. the PT is a means to see how much overall improvement I'm making and make sure my skills in the other sections don't diminish.jagerbom79 wrote:Are the 3 you are using the Trainer, Manahttan Series and bibles? I would stay away from the RC Bible, Manhattan is MUCH better. and yes, don't add any more books unless you think you need them. if your PT average is where you want it after the Bibles, don't add in the Trainer for no reason. if not, I'd actually use the Manhattan books instead of the Trainer (PS --> Manhattan is a transition a lot of people use).

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
okay, that makes sense. Is the trainer worth supplementing for me at this point, after the Bibles, or did I miss out on using it and should just do the manhattan ones? Just dug up my Cambridge packets (physical books) I didn't use while prepping for the October '13 exam.
Praise the lord.
Took PT 56 today and BOMBED it. I don't even wanna post. -0 in games was the highlight. -10+ in LR/RC

it doesn't really matter as long as you aren't using a recent one. PT A,B,C June 07, or something from 14-38 should be fine!jagerbom79 wrote:Awesome Thank you! That was my initial plan and Im going to stick to it. PS Bibles --> Manhattan.proteinshake wrote:I edited my post!

Just drilled PT2 LG. Woof, game 3 threw me for a loop and I lost 17 minutes on it, ended up -1 on that game though. Lost time messed me up on game 4 though. Game 4 was doable after the time passed. Watched the 7sage vid for game 3 and it seems game 3 is one of the unique old games that probably won't show up, but it was still good to see.

Although if I had a bunch at my disposal, I would be so tempted to just sell them for a jacked up price on ebay and never look back. It's ridiculous how much people are trying to sell them for (but sadly it makes sense).
Yeah I looked on Amazon. Didn't realize they'd been discontinued.
-0 on that game section is something I'm proud of. Game #4 on that one was my kryptonite...took 15 minutes on that one alone.

Nothing to be ashamed about. I haven't touched LG since my diagnostic (Low 150s). You are well on your way to a 170+.tofuspeedstar wrote:Just dug up my Cambridge packets (physical books) I didn't use while prepping for the October '13 exam.

How are y'all using the early Cambridge packets doing? I'll wrap it up towards the end of the week. I planned to finish last week but I needed to focus on my comps.

Good luck with comps, that should help you prep in a way for RC lol

Edited: Proteinshake is absolutely correct. I would take a PT after chapter 5 of the Trainer. This will give you enough of a foundation that you aren't going in completely blind, yet enough that you can accurately gauge where you are.CoGar wrote:Hey all,

I think the Trainer is great. I am using the bibles and then going to use Manhattan RC as proteinshake suggest to me as well.

Checking in after dabbling with studying a couple of years back and then taking a break. Hopefully this helps to keep me honest.
Goal is anything above 170. Im currently working through early PTs (40 is next). And I finished the 7sage curriculum a couple of months ago (with mixed reviews).

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Hey everyone!
I hope everyone's LSAT prep has been going well. I'm actually pretty excited to start studying full-time this Monday! Plan is to study 9-5 M-F (lunch at noon) then light prep on Sunday using the 7Sage curriculum, Bibles, and PT's until school/work rolls back around in August (full-time teacher here). If I begin to feel tired or burned out, I will definitely reduce the study time, although I feel very reluctant to do that.
Quick question: As far as PT's go, is it better to study the older tests, or more recent tests? The 7Sage curriculum requires the early PT's, but i've also heard some say it's better to study more recent PT's?
Will anyone else be using the question banks on 7Sage to drill by questions/game types/section? I'd appreciate any feedback, best of luck with everyone's studies!
