Did anybody else struggle with the second section of LR on PT 44? I hope this was just an off day for me, but I'm still trying to understand the mistakes I made. I had a really weird experience with 44. I finished the LG section with 11 minutes remaining and got all of them right but missed 5 questions on the aforementioned LR section.

Hello! I am relatively new to TLS, but a long-time lurker. I believe I am going to hop on the June retake train. I haven't looked at anything LSAT related since June last year when I took the exam. I scored a 162... I am hoping to increase it to a 166+. Pleasure prepping with you all! :)

Not sure, I haven't taken that PT recently.

Welcome. Check out some of the TLS study guides here http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 6&t=200917

There's one specifically tailored to retakers by NoodleyOne, which a few of us are using.

I haven't taken 44 yet, but based on my experiences with other 40s tests that sounds about right. Super hard LR 2 and easy LG.

Thank you for the kind welcome! I'm going to go buy some PTs and take one to establish a new baseline. Hopefully, these last many months haven't eroded my score too much. I hope you all don't mind me posting stupid information about my retake process on here. I'm hoping it will keep me disciplined--something I rather lacked my first time preparing.

Last time I took the LSAT I would always do this after PTs that didn’t go well. “Oh shit I did poorly on PT62... let me google other people’s opinions of it so that I can feel better when they say it was super hard,” or “Damn I struggled on RC for PT whatever... I hope it was considered a hard RC section.”

This time I am going to try to eliminate this attitude. We need to be ready for literally whatever they throw at us. This means rocking the “hard” sections too.

I agree with this to an extent, but you ignore that people could respond that it wasn't hard, in which case I'd be even more motivated to fix my problems. If people agreed with me then I might try to come up with an explanation for it. So, yeah, I agree that some of the motivation behind making that comment was to see if people sympathized, but it wasn't just that. This test was, for me, just very strange. I had taken 3 tests previously averaging a 177 and this one test I got a 170. On blind review I thought I had nailed the test. That hasn't happened to me before. I can almost always tell if I've missed something. So I really wanted to see if people agreed and if they had an explanation for it. Did a lot of us trip over weird wording? Was there a string of difficult questions that led to mistakes on easier questions following that string?

So, I agree that the attitude of looking for sympathy is silly (and that that was part of why I posted), but I don't think that the post itself is silly. And, definitely, I agree that shooting for 178+ means being ready for anything. Next time I'll post specific questions about things I find difficult rather than asking if people agree about difficulty.

Foam-

I think DD was really saying that we should never be satisfied with using "it was a difficult section" as an excuse for a poor performance or lower than usual score.

Feel free to complain about it as much as you want though. I like to know when Im not the only one bested by a tricky LR section.

Ya sorry, after re-reading what I posted I realize that it comes off with a negative connotation that I did not mean for it to have.
Everything you said makes sense, and I will certainly be posting my fair share of complaints when I do poorly on sections.

Check out a few posts back when reb agreed that the LR section I bombed was difficult.

Shit, it made me feel better, but you know I reviewed that hell out of that thing nonetheless.

Also, if you guys aren't doing this already:

In addition to having a LSATQA or 7sage test grading account, I have all of my stuff on an xls.

I include the date and location of the PT i took, as well as scores for each individual section (-2 etc), the Raw score, the score itself, blind review info, and a notes section which I fill out after the test before grading. Mine has everything from comments on noise, distractions, level of ADHD occuring, impressions of difficulty, etc.

Ach, naw, I'm sorry that I sounded so defensive. I think you're absolutely right about that attitude being bad for improvement. I just meant to say, and could have said in much less words, that that kind of posting can have positive results beyond sympathy.

Additionally, in keeping with my previous post where I said that someone might disagree that a section was hard I should say that I didn't think the PT41 LR section was hard. If you have any questions about that section definitely ask.

I applied everywhere this cycle. I'm in at a T20 with $$ and on multiple T14 wait lists. I am hoping to turn my $$ into $$$$$$ and those wait lists into acceptances with a kick-butt June LSAT score.

are you going to make deposits at the T20 schools in the meantime? are you going to tell those schools that you plan on taking the june LSAT? I am in the same boat, and am wondering how to go about it/when to register for the june LSAT.

Due to my frat star GPA(not proud of this) my game plan is this:

If I score :

180 = ED UPENN.
175-179= ED Virginia or cornell
170-174= ED Georgetown or Northwestern
165-169= go to wake forest
Below 165= get another cubicle job and live a life of disappointment
