Visiting my friend in Syracuse tomorrow. I bet they have a ton of snow.
I lived in lake effect snow for 2 years... fun stuff, once I got my current car I loved driving through untouched roads :P

I don't get it... why?
Because why bother digging my car out of the snow or putting on hiking boots just to study in the library?
Well I would guess theres a reason you were gunna take it there in the first place rather than ur home... so I would say thats why :P

zacboro wrote:Yeah it's all snowy. THE WORST. and I gotta question, since I spent so much time reviewing the Trainer's RC shit should I try to do things his way (even though I got a -9 yesterday) or should I try to do what I've been doing (where I've been getting -5 ish). I feel like it's too close to the date to try to switch up strategies but I don't know, when doing the Trainer's way I did at least get to each question unrushed, but in the end it proved useless because I got -9... What do yinz think?
I was never successful with the time allocation recommended in the trainer. 2.5-3 mins was just not enough for me to really internalize the passage. I always scored higher when I did closer to a 4-4.5 min read, and spent less time on the questions. RC strategies should be personalized. I think Mike would agree that it's better to spend the time you need upfront, rather than waffling around later, and getting questions wrong.

But the general principles in the trainer RC lessons -- e.g. Reading for structure, learning what question types are really asking, etc -- are really valuable things to keep in mind.
But you need to calibrate to your reading speed and style, so don't treat his time allocation guidelines as gospel.

I recommend you bring this mentality to all of the prep materials you read.

There are multiple ways to go -0 on any section, and different strategies will work better for different people. This is especially true for RC, since everyone's reading style is different. Take a bunch of sections, trying a different mindset/strategy every time. Figure out what leads to you getting the most correct answers, and do that.

Raider, you're in Boston! Check out Central Square if you get the chance, lots of fun restaurants there & also the Prudential area (Newbury Street is full of amazing shops/restaurants)
I'm here through Monday night! Im so excited! I'll definitely check them out. As a long time sox fan Fenway is also a must for me.
