HAHAHA! That is the spirit! speaking of gambling, I would bet once you come back from relaxing and blowing off some steam, you'll be killing it! I think you actually picked a great time to get out of town and chill.

Dunno about y'all, but I'm definitely gonna be drinking the curve's worth of vodka shots when they release our scores.

Depends on what type of a job your looking for. Indeed.com is a great starting point.proteinshake wrote:anyone else job searching? currently on Monster.com while I read from BP RC (if there is a better website, please let me know!).

You may also look into extended internships (paid, obv.) depending your circumstances. They may be more willing and understanding about the eight month tenure.ngogirl12 wrote:Depends on what type of a job your looking for. Personally, I am planning to try to intern at a law firm for the 8-10 months between the LSAT and law school (provided I do well enough.) I'll see if someone in NYC needs help (maybe an associate friend's firm (advantages of applying later? already have close friends at a good number of V25s) probably a RE focused firm/practice where the fact I understand valuation/real estate makes me mildly less useless), look for personal connections (few friends from high school's parents are judges in various capacities), or work for an old family friend. Alternatively, I may try to do some kind of volunteer work somewhere.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I'm totally bombing Method of Reasoning questions, I think I got at least 7-8 questions wrong and I've done 45-50 questions. :/
I read the section in Trainer but didn't find it that helpful. I'm also beyond exhausted (couldn't sleep much) and haven't worked out all week. I've been substituting that hour of gym for an extra hour of sleep.
I think I'm going to spend the rest of today reading. I have 18 questions left but I want to save them for tomorrow when I don't feel so sad towards LR.
Does anyone have advice for me regarding this question type?

I did pretty well on these. If you're out of it, don't waste the questions. Go to sleep.ngogirl12 wrote:I'm totally bombing Method of Reasoning questions, I think I got at least 7-8 questions wrong and I've done 45-50 questions. :/

Really focus on the reasoning.
Really focus on right/wrong answers...answer choices all indicate some method of reasoning or argumentation...a wrong answer for one question will be a right answer for another. Early on, try to understand what different choices are saying and what they mean.
especially if it is a flawed method of reasoning question, they re-use a few answers *a lot*... for flawed versions like almost every question has something that will reference equivocation and circular reasoning in some way. If it is ad hominem, ad populism, ad something, it will be smashed over your head. It will not likely be a subtle clue for one of these.

I feel like you'd know the answer to this: if a job description says they require 1 year of customer service experience, can I not apply if I only have years of tutoring experience and working at a campus library? that's literally the only requirement I don't technically have and it's annoying lol.34iplaw wrote:You may also look into extended internships (paid, obv.) depending your circumstances. I think you'd be fine. Just spin it into being customer service. I feel like that's easy enough - tutoring requires putting students first and retail is similar in regards to customers. 1YR experience doing anything reads to me like an extremely soft/unrigid requirement.proteinshake wrote:I feel like you'd know the answer to this: if a job description says they require 1 year of customer service experience, can I not apply if I only have years of tutoring experience and working at a campus library? that's literally the only requirement I don't technically have and it's annoying lol.34iplaw wrote:You may also look into extended internships (paid, obv.) depending your circumstances. agreed, it's an entry level job and they give you all the training you need so I don't really think they'd care. thanks!34iplaw wrote:I think you'd be fine. Just spin it into being customer service. had a miracle with dec 15 also where i went -5 in rc after guessing on like one full passage. still haven't reviewed my answer sheet so don't know how it could have happened.proteinshake wrote:I somehow went -3 on RC in Dec 2015 when I usually went like -7 on PTs, truly was a miracle.TheMikey wrote:If I go -0 on RC in September I'll go to church, even if my resulting score is shitty.Alexandros wrote:A bit baffled / amused that RC now seems to be my strong point. pretty much this. it's relevant that you think through about how you want to leverage this job's experience into your future plans. linkedin is also a useful resource.ngogirl12 wrote:Depends on what type of a job your looking for.proteinshake wrote:anyone else job searching? currently on Monster.com while I read from BP RC (if there is a better website, please let me know!).

^ Absolutely. It's all in the way you pitch your story. They are just looking for someone who is friendly and has had experience helping and working with people...you obviously have. Tutoring is even more-personal than traditional "customer-service" jobs and I would say working in a library is customer-serving as well. You will be fine.34iplaw wrote:I think you'd be fine. Protein, I think you were the one that mentioned that sleep cycle app like a month ago? Just tried it this morning. Actually worked really well.

I wasn't the one who mentioned it, but I swore by this all Spring Semester. One of my friends told me about it and when you don't wake up in the middle of a REM cycle, I found that I had so much more energy.Alexandros wrote:Protein, I think you were the one that mentioned that sleep cycle app like a month ago?
