Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Got to 3 LG sets and 2 LR and RC sets today. Too tired to do any more, w/e. 0 or -1 on all.
I might start drilling sets back to back and marking at the end to use time most efficiently, plus couldn't hurt for endurance. We'll see.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
okay so I have a job related question. so if I want to start working AFTER I take the LSAT (so anytime after Sept 24), when should I apply to jobs? I'm trying to get a job at this major sales and marketing company in my area but I don't want to apply too early and be like "yeah can I start in two months?" I feel like that'd sound weird and I'd have to tell them I'm taking the LSAT (which might cause them to not want to hire me since I won't be there long term). thought I assume they wouldn't contact me right after I apply. thoughts?

what do you mean when you say set? section? so you took 3 LG sections, 2 LR and 2 RC sections and missed no more than 1 on all? Teach me your secrets, master.Alexandros wrote:Got to 3 LG sets and 2 LR and RC sets today. Too tired to do any more, w/e. 0 or -1 on all.

Yeah - sections. (or, for RC, 4 randomly selected passages of varying difficulty.)loomy78 wrote:what do you mean when you say set? section? so you took 3 LG sections, 2 LR and 2 RC sections and missed no more than 1 on all? No more than 1 on each individually! they were repeats except for LR.

What was done today...
40 principle questions (39/40)
was feeling burnt out / out of it, so I took a bit of a break then went into LG...
Jun 08 G1; 5/5; 4:50 (R5:00)
Dec 04 G1; 6/6; 5:00 (R5:00)
Feb 95 G2; 6/6; 6:00 (R6:00)
Jun 01 G2; 5/5; 7:30 (R5:00)
Oct 01 G4; 6/6; 7:30 (R5:00)
Dec 95 G3; 5/5; 9:00 (R9:00)
Oct 00 G2; 5/5; 6:30 (R9:00)
Jun 95 G4; 5/5; 6:45 (R8:00)
Oct 91 G3; 3/5; 7:30 (R8:30) [one of these was a miscircle I'm fairly sure, and the other was an idiotic mistake - will redo]
Dec 96 G3; 5/6; 11:00 (R9:00) [will redo...weird wording... I wasn't really sure whether we absolutely had to have the hostile witness or not]
Oct 02 G4; 4/5; 12:00 (R11:00) [will redo...lost last question]
Jun 91 G2; 6/6; 8:50 (R9:00)
Oct 05 G2; 6/6; 6:45 (R6:45)
Oct 96 G4; 6/6; 7:00 (R8:00) [surprised I finished this one relatively quickly, as I misread #24 like three times which slowed me down... then again no local work was needed for this game really]
Feb 95 G3; 6/6; 7:20 (R12:00) [I was about to give up before this game, as I was just beat...first time I've seen this game...but this really reinvigorated me #suckitJY]
Jun 08 G4; 6/6; 8:00 (R10:00) [wasted a good amount of time on #19/#20...wording was really tricky but my misinterpretation of #19 was the answer to #20...I think they did this to actually be really nice]
Jun 00 G2; 5/7; 10:00 (R12:00) [one of these was definitely a miscircle...other I didn't read the 'new' so I got it wrong for that reason - will redo]
Oct 97 G3; 6/7; 9:00 (R11:00) [will redo/watch - I think I was a bit lazy with this one]
Dec 94 G4; 5/6; 12:00 (R12:00) [will redo...the one I got wrong I should have gone back to correct at #24... this is one of those weird games that really reveals itself as you get into it]
Feb 97 G3; 5/5; 9:00 (R#:##)
All done in mostly one sitting...last one was while I was waiting on my pizza for dinner. Brussel sprouts & pancetta...dope. Can we just have a test that is like 3 hours of logic games?
May do a passage or two before bed. Nothing too intense.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to just redo more AR sections independently. It's kind of difficult though because as slow as I am going through it the first time, my memory sticks pretty well so even older ones I speed through pretty quickly. It's really an odd section. Conceptually, the questions are easier than the other sections, but it still takes me longer to do than any of the other sections too.TheMikey wrote:What helped me with LG timing was timing myself for a single LG section (stopwatch, and not stopping at 35 mins), and if I wen't over 35 mins or even missed 1 question on 1 game, I would do the entire section again. Usually this helped me get below 30 mins and a -0 on that section. Even though it's inflated, I do believe that this helped me get from only being able to do 3 games in the time allotted, to actually being able to finish the section.Instrumental wrote:AR will be my end. I feel like I'm flying through it but struggle to make it to the first question of the last game almost every time. I've taken 24 tests and have yet to make it through an entire AR section. And it's not like I'm getting hung up on how to diagram them, I'm just freaking slow I guess :\

Just keep doing them. You'll start to be able to sort of divine the answers for lack of a better term. You may benefit from trying to just do loads of questions of the same type.Instrumental wrote:Yeah I think I'm going to have to just redo more AR sections independently. oh man I'm such a dummy! went ahead and BR'd an LR section from PT 71 and missed one. it was 5/5 difficulty on 7Sage and of course the only one I miss is #3, an easy Discrepancy question I overthought and corrected during BR

That moment at the end you sing the italian version rather than the spanish version at the end... you know you've listened to the right amount of Bocelli.

I'd just apply after the 24th. I feel like coding bootcamps are probably really cutting into law school numbers... maybe I'm just telling myself that hoping the medians stay a little down.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
So today:
I watched/did the Method of Reasoning lesson on 7Sage.
Did half of the Method of Reasoning questions, 58/65 so -7. Was a bit bummed about that, but it's a learning experience.
I have my LR notebook out ready for intense reviewing for the questions I got wrong. There were some I wasn't 100% on but the reasoning was either intuitive for me i.e. conclusion/premises led me to the correct answer or POE led me to the correct answer.
Going to do some review tonight and then finish up tomorrow.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
There are only 15 preptests left that I haven't touched yet, which I figure works out great at two or three a week until September. I was doing more like five to eight a week and sometimes two a day in the month leading up to the test I took last year, and that was way too much. I wanted to read the beginning part of the new Superprep, but unfortunately they use questions from five of those tests. So I'll have to put the book away and get to at least the three preptests that they use the most from before I come back to it.
I also tried to start reading the LSAT Trainer again. I used it and liked it a lot on my first run because it really eases you into the whole thing, but now that I have a good handle on the test, it's like, enough with the coddling and get to telling me something I don't know already.
So anyway, I guess there's nothing left to do except start pounding questions into my brain by the truckload.

just finished BR for PT 71 (5 section):
Score 175
LR -1
LG -2
LR -1
RC -4
definitely feel like I've made some improvement with RC over the past couple days working with Blueprint RC, this was a tough RC section (5/5). not much else to do besides improve on that to get into the 176+ range. I'll probably redo the LG section today, should have gone -0.
