Ok, Lurker Storytime it is:

I had just moved to San Francisco and was out with some friends when I saw a guy hitting a woman up ahead. Armed with 2 years of spottily-attended Kung Fu and plenty of Fernet in my system, I went up to the man and took him down from behind (by the way I'm a 4'11" woman, so I don't think he saw it coming). I kept him restrained on the ground and waited for the cops to come, and was actually able to calm him down somewhat. What I didn't realize, though, is that the man and woman were part of a much bigger fight, and while I was keeping the guy down several much bigger men came up and started throwing bricks at him - one of the bricks nicked my shoulder but didn't do me any real harm. Luckily the police showed up at that point and I rolled away from the brick throwing and left with my friends after the cops had no interest in talking to me.

I didn't realize until I was walking away that my shirt was covered in blood from the man I was holding down...
