But thats not a real hike, that's what you do on Sunday mornings to sweat out the alcohol from Saturday night before you go to brunch. I get that.Rigo wrote:Griffith Park be litcherrygalore wrote:I don't get what people get out of hiking? Honestly. Can someone explain?amta wrote:gonna hit you with a solid, "nah fam". hiking is essentially elitism while pretending not to be elitist. that's why its so popular with whites.

Actual long distance hiking is pretty cool in an athleticism and self sufficiecy kind of way.
I understand it's a to each his own thing. Just like a golfer could never explain to me why golf is cool, I realize some people just don't get hiking.

I'm a huge hiker. I think part of it is just getting outside and doing something that's away from the city. It's nice to just chill without like electronics and people around you. I also like the exercise bit a lot too. Feels good to have hiked up a mountain for like 4 hours and then get to experience the view as a reward.cherrygalore wrote:I don't get what people get out of hiking? Honestly. No golf is dope because you get the satisfaction from knowing that you're so rich that an entire piece of land is cultivated and manicured just so that you can hit a small ball across it. It's also the only sport you can drink and drive, which I think is kind of special in its own way.Rigo wrote:Actual long distance hiking is pretty cool in an athleticism and self sufficiecy kind of way.

Golf courses are a waste of water.
So are lawns.
