Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
I finished MLSAT chapter 1 last night and did all the games from my Cambridge bundle, which includes PT3-34.
I'm still missing like 1 a game for the harder ones, and I definitely want to get this down to 0, especially for this game type.
What do you guys recommend — should I buy a later bundle and drill all games (including repeats) until I'm at -0? I don't know if I should start Chap 2 of MLSAT when I clearly have issues to work out here, or if I should keep working on these while intro'ing new games.
Thanks!

Be patient, move on in MLG, and do your old ones over and over again. But when you review your old ones, don't take them too soon after you originally took it, or you will just memorize it. I like to change the letters around on my old games and take them when I'm bored.
That's a good way to make a game seem less familiar!

Somewhere between 25 and 40.
Literally the only perk from being unemployed.

Haha, me toooo. I may be running out of $$$$ but at least I can spend a full workday trying to improve my horrendous LG skills...CanILive wrote:Somewhere between 25 and 40.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
And speaking of horrendous LG skills, actually...
I'm starting to believe that a huge obstacle for me is, sadly enough, the speed at which I write and my slightly obsessive need for my diagrams to be perfectly neat. I say this because I've been playing the same games about 4 times in a row, just to see how long it takes me to set up the problems. In other words, I draw the master diagram, rules, and the hypotheticals next to answers that I'd likely need even if I got all the major inferences of a game. Even when I already know and have memorized everything, it takes ~4:30 just to put everything on paper!
On the bright side, that means that when I've been getting new problems done sub 7:00, I'm only really spending 3:00 or less in active thought about the problem. But on the other hand, jesus christ.

Not really. I am banking on not having a consistent weekly amount of time to get studying done.rebexness wrote:Aren't you concerned about running out of material to study?CanILive wrote:Somewhere between 25 and 40.
I am pretty sub-par at LG, and my solution to this issue takes up a lot of time.
When I get a LG incorrect I look at the solutions in the Manhattan forum and watch a video explanation from 7Sage. I then mark the question for review tomorrow and plan on doing this until I fully understand LGs.
I am going to drill using LGs from pre 2000 and then move on to PTs.
I am worried about burnout though....

About 2/3 hrs right now -- will up that to 4/5.itachiuchiha wrote:how many hours are most of you guys putting in each day?
Congrats on the solid RC scores! How long does it take untimed? Do you check afterwards?Daily_Double wrote:Got a -2 on PT 18 RC earlier today, untimed. Just got a -1, on PT 11, RC, untimed. I've done more today, ravaging games, but this is by far the best news I've gotten all week in terms of individual prep. Really happy with today. I'll update with the rest of the numbers later tonight.

My best result on RC is PT 6, -3 and all -3 go to passage 2, female missionary in Canton and China, Q10, Q11, Q12, I thought this passage was really easy, then got -3 out of 6. Not happy.

5 hours everyday, including weekend. So that will be 35 a week.itachiuchiha wrote:how many hours are most of you guys putting in each day?
1 hour for LG, 3 for LR, 1 goes to RC.

TLS brethern, officially going sub 5:30, -0 consistently on basic linear LG. Leaving about 30min for the other hell 3 games.
Apologies for the humblebrag, I'm stoked.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Just drilled PT 7 RC untimed
Got -4, Q6, Q8 ( circle the wrong one ) Q10, Q11 ( misread the question )
I keep choking on one single passage, for PT 6 it was passage 2, for PT 7 it was passage 2 also.
I think I may have endurance issue.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Not averaging? Nice!!
I have about 30 pages left of the 2nd ch of MLSAT, but drilled the 7 Relative Ordering from Cambridge's 1-38 bundle today.
PS2-S3-G1 (3:48) -1
PS33-S4-G1 (5:23) -0
PS4-S3-G3 (5:07) -1 (circled incorrectly, but work was OK)
PS38-S2-G1 (4:13) -0
PS5-S4-G2 (4:41) -0
PT10-S2-G1 (5:10) -1
PT1-S2-G3 (5:30) -0
I'm going to look on Cambridge's website to see if I can get more recent bundles too. I think I've heard that LG has changed in recent years, so I def. want to get my hands on those games
