I hate this phrase. It's exactly what someone says right before (or in this case, after) intentionally saying something offensive in an attempt to make it okay.

Not really. It means that though the preceding is potentially offensive, one should not be offended because it was not meant in that spirit.

many decent and great poll ideas have been proposed... you just ignore them or hate on them

Remind me of those poll ideas then and I'll consider them. Most of the ones I rejected were because they were questions that don't lend themselves to the TLS poll format.

Oh yeah, I remember now... yeah, I just don't like superheroes. I tried to watch Avengers once and turned it off halfway through because it was so boring.
